The Sky of Painful Blue

The sky was a dark eerie shade of grayish blue. Although, it was hard to make out the abnormal sky color due to the ocean of clouds that spread across the skies. Each cloud was black in color and spread everywhere quickly, making sure to block out everything. An intense flash of white would appear in the clouds followed by a loud rumbling, to show a thunder storm preparing itself for an awakening.

Down below on the ground, hundreds of golden yellow buildings stretched up high. Each one having a different shape such as a pyramid or a stair temple, completely made of great square stones, crumbling with age from years of existence.

Atop the tallest of them stood an extremely small figure. They stood upright, but clearly had feline-like ears and a tail, giving it the appearance of a human mixed with an animal. The creature sighed loudly as it’s unwavering gaze kept steadily on the dark sky. The figure then began to speak in a soft but firm voice, clearly distinguishing it as a female.

“My, it’s gotten this far already? I feel truly sorry for this world, only just recovering from its mutual collapse and now this! I fear every monomakia is in grave danger now . . .THOSE FOOLS! How dare the Council lay me off like this?! I warned them of this happening, and now all the citizens of Brigadoon shall pay for their stupidity!”

The figure clenched her small fists tightly at the thought. “Maybe I should just let them suffer for degrading and practically annihilating their only hope! Then maybe they’ll understand.”

The cat creature released her grip and looked down at her dark-purple furry hand. She shut her eyes and closed her fist again, much more gently, before looking at the sky again. Her entire body was covered in purple fur such as her hand, having a black leather bracelet around each wrist. The ears on the top of her head stood straight up with a bit of the fur curling at the ends. A small patch of long hair, the same as her fur, came out and fell over the creature’s right eye in rolls of fancy curls.

“No. I mustn’t think that way. I may not be a chairman anymore, but I’m still capable of doing something to save this world.”

The figure stood up straight and tall, trying to look as composed as she could, letting the wind ruffle her ears and fluffy tail.

“I, TeTe- Former Chairman of the Life Improvement Committee, will do anything in my power to help in any way possible. I fear that I may not be much help though. . .Argon. . .you are the only hope left for us.”

---------- 20 years ago, Brigadoon time ----------

Two scientists stood in front of a large monitor as it flashed numerous symbols and time periods. The taller of the scientists, who had shaggy brown hair and large round glasses, typed furiously on his keyboard, changing the image of the monitor from numbers and dates to hundreds of small chart windows and a skeletal image of a humanoid like being behind them.

“How is everything coming along?” The other scientist asked. This one was a woman around the age of 25 or so, like her partner typing away, and much smaller than him. Her silky black hair was pulled back into a braid to stay out of her eyes. She also had a small oval pair of glasses resting on the tip of her nose as she looked over the graphs and charts before her.

The man at the keyboard looked over to her and then went back to typing before answering. “Quite well actually. I’m amazed he’s coming along so well so quickly. It’ll only be a matter of at least two weeks before completion!”

He typed in a few commands on the keys, making all the charts blink out, while a larger window appeared out of the center of the human diagram showing an animated picture of what appeared to be DNA.

“I managed to complete the complex code for dimensional core travel and set it into the biological information last night. Everything is almost complete, now all that has to be do--”

The man was cut off and was drawn to the mechanical door behind him, which just slid open. His female comrade also turned, giving the visitor her full attention.

Once the door was completely open, a familiar purple cat-creature came strolling in and approached the two scientists at the back of the room.

“Everything going well?” TeTe asked curiously looking at the screen with the DNA still pictured on it.

The two scientists bowed their heads slightly in respect towards the chairman as she approached them near the computer.

“Chairman of the Life Improvement Committee, our work is almost near completion. We shouldn’t have a problem if the progress continues at this pace.” The female scientist piped it.

TeTe nodded and looked at the screen again. “So how long do you think we have, Gunbirdo?”

The man at the keyboard hit a few more letters, making another chart appear. “Estimated time reads about . . . . 15 years. It’s still a long time till it will reach the limits of Brigadoon, and my research has shown that will require a large effort on it’s part to break in. So in the mean time, we’re safe for the moment, and our secret weapon will be at full power capacity by that time.”

“You have nothing to worry about, chairman.” Said Ardain, the female scientist, as she adjusted her glasses.

TeTe glanced at the diagram on the screen once more. “It’s not that. I’m more concerned about the rest of the committee. They’re still in denial about all this. And I’m sure they won’t be pleased with the idea of creating an all-powerful, transforming monomakia. . .”

Gunbirdo snorted at the chairman’s comment. “I wouldn’t be bothered too much by it. We cover our tracks well, plus it’s won’t matter soon. In just a matter of days, our work will bear fruits, then it won’t matter if they find out.”

“But if they discover what you’re doing, they’ll have to eliminate you and everything you’ve worked on!” TeTe shouted angrily at the scientist.

Both just stares at TeTe intensely. “We’re well aware of that. But this is our job, and if we get killed for it, then that’s fine. As long as our work is finished, we don’t mind.” Ardain added.

TeTe glanced down at her feet before continuing. “I see. You two really are dedicated to your work.”

The chairman turned abruptly and began to exit. She stopped at the door as it slid open, speaking to the scientists without turning.

“Continue. I’ll check in again shortly, and keep me posted on any news.”

Both scientists nodded. Sensing their agreement, TeTe calmly walked out and away as the door shut behind her.

AN: Wow this sucked, but I guess this is what happens when you’re bored. I’ll try to update if people review and want me to, and feel free to give ideas for the fic, the story is still pretty open.
