Scroll 7: The Dream And The Past
I Woke Up In A Dream Today...
A voice said, it was feminine... The words seemed to bring to life the old memories that decided to lay dormant in the hanyou's mind.
To The Cold Of The Static/And Put My Cold Feet On The Floor...
These memories seemed fresh, even though they were stale and forgotten. Almost like they happened yesterday, not over 50 years ago. Slowly, the first memory invaded the hanyou's dream.
Forgot All About Yesterday...
He saw her... Her long black hair flowing like an ocean in the breeze. These finally forgotten memories, haunting his dream. He was standing there watching her. Kagome...? The hanyou asked inside his mind, but this female's scent was different, and he recognized it. No... Not Kagome... Kikyo... Kikyo was sitting on the ground, her back turned to him. This near forgotten female.
"Ah, hello Inuyasha." Kikyo turned to him, now noticing that he was there, giving a light smile.
The sound of her voice sent a shiver down his spine, as those golden yellow hues locked with her deep brown ones. "Kikyo..." He said in a low voice.
"Yes? Is something bothering you?"
Inuyasha shook his head. "No, its nothing..."
"Then come and have a seat next to me." She patted the ground next to her.
He shrugged his shoulders, and walked over to her. Bending his knees, allowing him to sit almost like a dog as he looked to her. "Can I help you?" The hanyou asked in a questioning tone.
Remembering I'm Pretending To Be Where I'm Not Anymore...
Kikyo tilted her head. "Why are you so suspicious of me all of a sudden? I know you have been watching me... Day in and day out..."
Inuyasha looked down. "So? What of it? I'm just studying your patterns so I can get the Shikon No Tama."
"... Your lying..." Kikyo said.
Inuyasha was taken aback. "What do you mean, 'I'm lying'? How would you know?"
"I can see it in your eyes... Your eyes reflect your soul... Didn't you know that? Also, we have spoken in private, have we not?"
"I know that! And yeah, so what?" Inuyasha raised his voice in rage.
"Calm down... There is nothing to get all worked up about." Kikyo placed a hand on Inuyasha's shoulder, and he stiffened, growling lightly.
"Don't touch me..." He moved his hand from the ground and brushed her's off of his shoulder.
"Hm... What are you worried about? I won't hurt you... Because, Inuyasha, You are like me... Wether or not you see it... Thats the main reason why I can't kill you..."
"Keh, yeah right... I don't wanna hear bunch of shit from you... So just stop while your ahead." He said bluntly.
Kikyo shook her head. "Your still your old self... Even when confronted with the person that you love..."
"What?" He yelled looking at her.
She placed a finger on his lips. "I know how you feel... Thats why you keep watching me... I'm not stupid."
Inuyasha looked away, a light line of crimson crossing his features. Inuyasha and Kikyo had talked a few times in the past, but they kept that a secret from the villagers. Inuyasha was always tense when going to she her, and this time was no different. They only talked briefly though. Thats how Kikyo learned to read Inuyasha's emotions.
A Little Taste Of Hypocrisy...
Kikyo's eyes locked with his, and Inuyasha swallowed deeply. "Can I help you?" He repeated.
"Yes, I believe you can..." Kikyo respond, not moving an inch.
"Ok, what can I help you with?" Inuyasha was getting alittle ticked off.
And I'm Left In The Wake Of The Mistake/Slow To React...
Kikyo grinned lightly, and Inuyasha backed away slowly. I don't like where this is going... He thought, as he felt Kikyo's hands on his face, almost forcing him to look at her.
"Are you afraid?" She asked, in a mocking tone.
"Me? Afraid? You wish..." He answered, his face still in her hands.
"Then why are you pulling away?"
"Because you are acting really weird..."
Kikyo laughed lightly, pulling her gaze from Inuyasha's for a moment. "Weird, you say? Your one to talk, Inuyasha... But, I bet your heart is racing, is it not?"
Kikyo was right. His heart was beating faster then normal, but he could never admit to these human emotions. Thats what made him weak, that is why he wanted the Shikon Jewel. "Feh, I don't have those petty human emotions like you Kikyo..."
"You know... You are a terrible liar..."
Inuyasha slanted his eyes. "Where are you going with this anyway?" He was now annoyed with all this talk about love, feelings, and the like.
Kikyo dropped her hands from his face, placing them on his broad shoulders, Inuyasha flinching slightly.
"Kikyo, what..." He got cut off when Kikyo moved her right hand to cover his mouth.
"Like I said, I'm not going to hurt you. You of all people, should know that. You have nothing to worry about."
Inuyasha mumbled something though Kikyo's hand. Kikyo removed her hand and looked to him, tilting her head.
"Do you want to run that past me one last time?"
"I said, It's not you going to hurt me that I'm afraid of... Its me hurting you..."
Kikyo giggled lightly. "Whats living if you don't do something out of the ordinary?"
"But..."
Kikyo held her hand up. "Shush... No more talking..."
Inuyasha shook his head slightly, then looked back to her. Before the hanyou knew what was happening, Kikyo had him in a tight embrace, like she was clinging on to him for dear life. Slowly, the priestess reached up, gently placing a soft kiss on the hanyou's lips. She pulled back then, and pushed him over.
"You don't have petty human emotions, hm?" Kikyo couldn't help but grin.
Inuyasha growled lightly. "What the hell did you do that for?"
"You act like your mad, but I know otherwise..."
Inuyasha pushed himself up, so he was supported by his elbows. Kikyo moved over to him, lightly kissing him again. This time, Inuyasha placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her back.
Even Though You're So Close To Me...
She fell back into the grass, and just started laughing. Standing up and looking to him, she give him a passionate smile. Gently, the priestess brushed off her kimono and her pants. Inuyasha remained on the grass, still propped up by his elbows. His heart was beating rapidly, and his breathing a little heavier then normal.
"You will speak nothing of this, ok?" Kikyo tilted her head, and Inuyasha nodded slowly. "Good..." She finished.
Your Still So Distant/And I Can't Bring You Back...
She turned and headed back toward the village, Inuyasha finally able to regain his senses enough to sit up. He ran one of his hands though his long silver hair, and sighed lightly, trying to piece everything together in vain. What just happened there? He asked himself, as he looked down the path Kikyo had taken back to the village. The feelings of passion running though the hanyou.
It's True The Way I Feel...
Ever since that day, I haven't been able to forget her... The hanyou thought as he walked though the forest. His golden yellow hues were affixed to the ground. He took in a deep breath, catching the scent of Kikyo. When he let the air out, learning that he had wondered close to the village.
Was Promised By Your Face...
Quickly jumping into a tree next to him, those keen hues of his scanning the area to see if anyone was around. No ones around, good... Inuyasha concluded, jumping down from the tree a moment later. Slowly walking though the grass, it bent due to the weight, and crunched. His ears twitched lightly with the sounds. He got lost in his thoughts and ran into someone. Being knocked back a few inches due to the force of the impact, he opened his eyes, and growled. "Will you watch where the hell you are going?" Looking to the female's face, his ears lowered. "Kikyo..." He said in a low voice.
The Sound Of Your Voice...
"I'm sorry, Inuyasha... I didn't see you there..." Her brown hues focused on the ground for a moment.
Inuyasha walked over to Kikyo, and wrapped his arms around her in an embrace. "Don't worry, it was my fault also..." He whispered lightly in her ear.
Painted On My Memories...
Her voice rang though his mind, during the embrace. "It's both our faults..." She smiled up to him, carefully nuzzling his chest. He looked to her, locking their gaze.
"I will always protect you... I swear..."
"You may not always be able to protect me..."
"I can try..."
Even If Your Not With Me...
Slowly, the memory faded, and he stood in the darkness of his mind's own prison. Whats going on? Why are all these memories coming back now? He shook his head, placing hand over his face for a moment.
I'm With You...
That phrase became stuck in his mind, as the void began to shift again. Why...? He wondered, as things started to become clearer.
You/Now I See/Keeping Everything Inside...
"Inuyasha... Why do you hide so much from me? I mean, if you really trust me, then why are you afraid to tell me how you feel...?" Kikyo asked, looking to him, a serious expression on her face.
"Because of my past... And no matter what you do... You can't change the past I hold inside..." Inuyasha responded, shrugging lightly. "Thats the way I am..."
"You know... I'll always be here if you need me..."
"Yeah, yeah..."
With You...
"I'm serious..."
"You know, Kikyo, I'll live longer then you..."
"So? I can help you while I'm with you... What is your problem?"
"There is no problem!"
"Then tell me something... Why do you care for me?"
"What?"
"Why do you love me?"
"I could ask you the same thing, could I not?"
"Just answer the question..."
You/Now I See/Even When I Close My Eyes...
"I don't know ok?" He muttered lightly, shaking his head.
Kikyo laughed softly. "How did I know you were going to say that?"
I Hit You And You Hit Me Back...
"I told you to leave me alone for awhile, I need some time to think!" Inuyasha yelled at Kikyo, bearing his fangs. He raised one of his clawed hands, and hit the priestess across her face, his claws accidentally digging into the weak skin of her face.
"I was worried about you, you damn jerk!" Kikyo yelled back, placing one of her hands on the scratch. Blood tricked down her fingers, and she growled lightly. Taking the hand that was now blood stained, she smacked the hanyou hard.
The smell of her blood invaded his senses. Slowly, he took a step back, but lost his balance, and landed on the ground. He looked up to her, placing his right hand on the mark that Kikyo had made.
And We Fall To The Floor/The Rest Of The Day Stands Still...
Kikyo knelt down next to him, placing her hand on the mark once more.
"That hurt, you know..."
"It's supposed to! Your bleeding! Its not going to feel good..." The hanyou shook his head, swearing under his breath.
Kikyo just looked away, muttering a few things. Inuyasha removed his hand from the mark. His hand had stains of her blood on it. Placing his hand on the ground to somewhat conceal the smell, his yellow hues focused on the ground. "... I'm sorry..." He said after a moment of silence. Kikyo didn't respond. She sat there thinking to herself. Slowly, the day passed, the two sitting there, not saying a word to each other.
Fine Line Between This And That...
Night crept slowly in from the east, the last of the sun's light disappearing to the west. The hanyou rested on a hill that laid near the village that Kikyo lived in. He sat criss cross, his yellow hues to the sky. I curse this day... He said within his mind. Why does there have to be no moon tonight? Sighing deeply, he closed his eyes for a moment. Slowly opening his eyes, his gaze trailed to the west, as he watched the suns final light become engulfed in the darkness. "Damn it..." He swore lightly, murmuring random things. He heard a crunch in the grass, though it was faint. It seemed that his keen hearing was fading.
"Inuyasha..." The voice said softly. "You normally know I'm around even before I come into view... Is there something wrong with you? Are you sick?" It was Kikyo. She took a step forward.
"Stay where you are..." Inuyasha growled at her.
"Why?" Kikyo asked, confused. She had never seen him act like this before. He had been mean, but never to this extreme. It was almost like he was hiding something. "Inuyasha, whats the matter?"
"Its nothing that concerns you, just leave me alone damnit!" He turned away from the priestess, slowly standing up and walking off.
When Things Go Wrong I Pretend That The Past Isn't Real...
Kikyo started following after him. Why doesn't she ever listen to me...? He asked, shaking his head slightly. Stopping suddenly, he looked to her. "Why are you following me?"
"Because I know you are hiding something from me... Don't you trust me?" Kikyo seemed to have a really hurt expression on her face.
Damnit... I can't stall any longer... He looked to his hands, and his claws were slowly shortening and becoming less sharp. The golden yellow color started to fade from his eyes, being overcome with a deep black color. His long silver hair became stained with darkness, turning it black. Slowly, the two dog ears seemed to move from their position on his head, down to where a normal human's ears lie, and changing shape. He crossed his arms across his chest, and forced a sigh. "Are you happy now?"
Now I'm Trapped In This Memory...
"Inuyasha... Is that you?" Kikyo asked, in near disbelief.
"'Is it me?' Who the hell else would it be? You saw me transform, didn't you?"
"Yes..."
"Then why did you ask such a stupid question? Are you that surprised to see me as a pathetic human?"
"I didn't think that you could turn into a human... Thats all..."
"Well... This is just one of the many pleasures of being a 'half-breed.'" He cringed at the word. That word had haunted him all his life. He hated that word with a passion. "Not only do we have the unnecessary human emotions, but, we also turn human at certain times... Unfortunately, my time is when there is no moon in the sky... Are you going to plot to kill me on a night like this?"
"No... I'm not going to kill you! What don't you understand?"
"Feh..." Inuyasha responded, as his arms slowly fell to his sides.
And I'm Left In The Wake Of The Mistake/Slow To React...
Kikyo ran over to him, wrapping her arms around him the best she could. "Why don't you trust me?" She asked in a low voice.
"Because..." He paused for a moment, looking for the right words. "Its how I've always been... Its not for any one the judge..." Pulling away from her, he looked to the sky. "Like this... I'm basically defenseless..."
Even Though Your So Close To Me...
Kikyo nodded in understanding. "Never forget, Inuyasha... I am human every day of my life... Yet, I continue to fight demons... We are all mortal, are we not? Human or demon... Your life will come to an end one day... By the hands of an enemy, or by the hands of time..." She got cut off.
"Or by a loved one..." Inuyasha added blankly.
"'Or by a loved one...'" Kikyo repeated, rolling her eyes. "The point I was trying to make, was that even though you are human, there is still a lot that you can do... You are only human once in awhile... Not everyday... So you have no room to complain..."
Your Still So Distant/And I Can't Bring You Back...
Slowly, the hanyou's golden yellow hues opened. He raised one of his hands, looking to it. A dream... He thought. "An evil one at that..." He grumbled.
"What was evil?" Kagome asked, turning her gaze from the window to him.
"Your awake?"
"Yep. Why are you so amazed? I couldn't sleep..." She shrugged her shoulders lightly.
"Then it was you!"
"Ok, what did I do now?"
"You where saying all that stuff when I was sleeping..."
"I wasn't talking..."
"Words don't randomly come out of no where..."
"I wasn't talking..." Kagome repeated. "I was singing..."
"Whats the difference?"
"Singing is when you try to create rhythm with words..."
"Whatever."
"I don't get why you are so mad. You looked like you were having a good dream."
"Keh." He looked away, closing his eyes. "If you call that a good dream, then I'd hate to see what you call a nightmare..."
"Hey, Inuyasha... Look... The moon is almost gone... It'll be a new moon soon."
"So? Whats your point?"
"I don't have one really... I was just saying... But nights when there is a new moon are so mysterious... Because the only light is that of the stars..."
New moon? Inuyasha thought. Could she be referring to the time when there is no moon in the sky...? If so... Then that means... "Damnit!" Inuyasha yelled out, startling Kagome.
"Is something the matter?" Kagome asked, confused.
"Its nothing, ok? Just leave me alone!" Inuyasha walked out of the house once more and Kagome sighed.
I'll never get any information out of him at this rate... Shaking her head, she sat down on the floor, just thinking to herself.
