"Erik is Dead"

I read the words
Written plainly in the paper for all
Unfeeling people to read
Time now for my promise to be kept
And I leave.

I find him on the sofa. Still, waiting,
And I remove the ring which had grown
Comfortable on my finger
Sliding it over his instead

"Erik is Dead"

The words flash in my mind
As I bury him in the unmarked grave
He's gone, and I'm empty
