Kiss the Sky
by prexus
Footsteps echoed in the hallway. Kakashi Hatake, seventeen years old, rich and popular, and late for the after school club meeting again. And … there would be hell to pay.
He had been outside in the courtyard with his friends.
“Ne, Kakashi!” His friend tossed a ball at him.
He caught it easily and threw it back. “Nani?”
“Don’t you have a meeting to go to?”
Kakashi grinned at him. “They can wait.”
His friends stared warily at him. Brave man he was. “Isn’t that Haruno girl going to get mad?”
He smiled cockily. “Mad at me, Kakashi Hatake? What girl would get mad at me?”
The bruise on his head last week said that there was one girl in the school that could get mad at him.
Itachi, who was sitting under a tree looked at Kakashi, shading his eyes. “Ne, Kakashi. Don’t be so sure of yourself. I bet you that you couldn’t get Haruno to attend the Matsuri with you.”
“How much?”
“Nani?”
“You heard me Itachi. How much?”
“Twenty thousand yen.” Itachi smirked at him.
“You’re on.”
He reached the door of, he looked up, F-5, is it? He slides open the door. Every face turns toward him, every face including the President of the club. Fiery personality she has.
Kakashi grins at the girl-president, who is glaring at him with contempt. Sakura Haruno, one year his junior, good school marks, nice body, ideal girlfriend. He smirks.
She gestures towards empty chairs. “Take a seat, Kakashi-senpai. You’re late, again. You’d think that with only a week before summer holidays, you would have learned how to be on time.”
He smiles charmingly at her; he strolled over to an empty seat next to a girl. He winks at her and she blushes. “Is this seat taken?”
The blushing girl stared up at him with awe and shook her head wildly. “N-no!”
“Good.” He slides into the seat and stares directly at an annoyed president.
“If you are done Hatake, I would like to continue.” Sakura drilled her fingers against the professor’s teaching podium, with an eyebrow cocked at him.
“I’m not stopping you Sakura-chan.” He smiled at her and she stared furiously at him, torn between yelling at his witty comment or going on with the club meeting.
She picks neither. A strangled sound comes from her throat and, “Oh forget it. Meeting adjourned. Go home, we’ll talk about this next week.”
A symphony of scraping chairs and rustling shirts filled the classroom as everyone squeezed their way through the door. A frustrated Sakura Haruno is to be feared.
The door slid closed. She breathed a sigh of relief. At least baka-Kakashi was gone now. The click of the lock sent her head flying out of her arms. Oh, woe is me. She glared at one baka-Kakashi, and then glared at his hand that had locked the door.
“You just locked the door.” She glared suspiciously at him.
“Hai, Sakura-chan.” He smirked. “I would have never noticed.”
“Open it. Now.” She stood and grabbed her book bag; Sakura stalked over to where he stood next to the door.
He shifted into the frame of the door, blocking any access. “You see, Sakura-chan, there’s a gate fee now. Ne, you have to pay me first.”
She stomped her feet childishly and turned her face away, mumbling angrily. “Why? Why do I put up with you Hatake?”
She decided to play along and stared at him, a challenging glisten in her eyes. “Ok. Have it your way Hatake. What do you want?” She began to pull things out of her bag. “Riceball? Comic book? Home – “
A hand suddenly shot out and grabbed her wrist, stopping all her motions. He pulled gently and she stumbled against him. He stared at her. She glared at him but the blush that crawled into her cheeks betrayed him. His breath brushed against her cheek as he bent towards her ear. “I want …”
She held her breath. What the hell?! Hold yourself together Sakura! But I’ve never been touched by a guy before! Sakura! Remember: Baka-Kakashi. Baka Baka Baka!” Her thoughts stopped.
“I want … my Come, Come Paradise back.” He pulled away, letting go of her hand. He grinned at her.
Sakura blinked at him. The realization of what he just said hit her. She took away his book at last week’s meeting, she remembered, he wasn’t paying any attention to the meeting.
She growled and dug through her bag. She hurled the “damn porn book” at him and he stepped away from the door, unlocking it.
The aggravated girl threw open the door and stomped her way down the hallway.
“Wait, Sakura-chan!”
She stopped halfway down the hall. “Nani?!”
“Did you enjoy my book?”
She turned a corner and yelled, “Go to hell Hatake!”
Kakashi Hatake watched Sakura Haruno with a wolfish look in his eye. “You’ll be all over me by summer holidays Sakura Haruno. I’ve got twenty thousand yen that says you will.”

A/N: This is a KakaSaku fic. I’m not a big supporter or anything, but I thought it might be interesting to do one. Oh, and I don’t know why the fanfic is called “Kiss the Sky.” I’ve always wanted to use that as a title for one of my fics. Maybe the meaning will be revealed to me later on. ; This fanfic is going to be chaptered, and I’m new to chapters. I’ve always done one-shots for Harry Potter fanfics. ; hehe. I hope this tidbit of first chapter was clear to you. If not, gomen nasai!! But basically, this is an AU fic (as you can tell, hopefully) and it takes place in modern Japan. Kakashi is going to be seventeen in this story and Sakura will be sixteen. ; Oh yeah, Matsuri. You might be wondering what Matsuri is. It’s a summer festival held in Japan. I got the idea when I was browsing through the AnimeExpo site. I was checking out the programming and looking ahead so I would know what’s going on at the expo this year. I’m going! Yay! Hopefully, it’ll be as bombay as last year. ;; Anyway, review, onegai? =D This fanfic will be continued if it’s successful.
Disclaimer: Oops, almost forgot about it. I don’t own Naruto. =D Heck, I can’t even draw it.
;] Give in to the peer pressure. Review, review, review. Everyone else is doing it. =D hehe
