Two years had past since Harry Potter and his two best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley had left Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after spending seven years studying there. During their sixth year there Ron and Hermione had gotten together after confessing their feelings for each other. But that relationship could have lasted longer but in the end of their seventh year Ron and Hermione broke up, promising each other to still be friends.

After they had left school both of them started dating other people. Ron soon found another girl that he liked. Her name was Karen and she had long blond hair and she was almost as tall as Ron himself. They seemed to be very happy together except for the dosing of fights they had during a year. And those fights were nothing like the kind Ron and Hermione had had.

Hermione on the other hand went out with a guy for a week before she broke up with him. She had a feeling that she would never be able to get over Ron. But that was before she met Paul. He was a great guy and she was glad that she had met him; she couldn't sit around at home crying over Ron anymore.

When Hermione and Paul had been going out for three months they decided to spend a romantic weekend together. But it seemed as though that weekend would be the end of their relationship. Already during the first hour together they started to argue, after another hour Hermione had seen a side of him that she had never seen before. A side of him that she hated.

When they the next day went to visit his brother Steven, Hermione had had enough. Not only had Paul brought up the subject that always led to an argument, Ron, he had even slapped her. She couldn't stand him any longer; she wanted to get out of there, out of their relationship not to ever come back.

Luckily she got her chance to end it all after Paul had agued with his brother. Steven and Paul started to argue and Steven told his brother that at least he managed to find a girlfriend that weren't still in love with her first boyfriend. Paul had punched Steven in the middle of his face, calling him a liar.

'Stop it!' screamed Hermione. Paul shut up, turning to look at Hermione.

'What?' asked Paul swallowing hard.

'Yeah, what?' asked Steven.

'Steven's right,' said Hermione looking directly at Paul. 'I'm not in love with you, I'm really not. Actually I don't think I like you at all and to tell you the truth, I'm not over Ron. How could I be?'

Paul just stared at her, Steven let out a small laugh.

'What?' shouted Paul after he had punched Steven one more time.

'What I mean is that I don't want to see you ever again,' said Hermione smiling, opening the door. 'It's over,' finished Hermione and slammed the door shut. That's when she broke up with the second guy she had dated since Ron.

Hermione didn't know what to do, she did the first thing that came to her mind, she apparated to Ginny's apartment. Ginny was Ron's younger sister. But to Hermione's surprise Ginny wasn't there, the only one there was Ron.

'Hi,' said Hermione nervously, thinking about what she had just told Paul.

'Hi,' said Ron and got up from the sofa that he was sitting on.

'What are you doing here?' asked Hermione.

'Ginny said I could stay here for a while, we were suppose to have lunch together but she had some work to do,' answered Ron. 'Aren't you suppose to be with Paul?'

'Yeah,' said Hermione, sighing.

'Maybe you don't want to talk about it,' said Ron.

'You know what, yesterday I got to see a side of Paul that I had never seen before, and I didn't like it,' said Hermione and sighed before she continued. 'How come it never works out with the guys I have gone out with since we broke up?'

Ron walked up to Hermione and put an arm around her shoulders.

'You just have to find the right guy, Hermione,' he said and let go of Hermione.

Hermione looked up at Ron, Ron knew those chocolate brown eyes very well by now.

'I had the right guy, but I lost him,' said Hermione. Ron just looked at her.

Then there was a moment of silence and Hermione was the one to break it.

'I have never really gotten over you, Ron,' she said. Ron sat down on the couch again and Hermione sat down in the armchair opposite him.

'How can I fall in love with someone else when I'm still in love with you?' said Hermione. Ron took a deep breath.

'Hermione, it's not that I don't love you, cause I do,' he said.

'You're just not in love with me,' said Hermione. Ron shook his head.

'No, that's not it. I'm in love with you but I'm seeing Karen. Hermione nodded.

'I know,' she said. 'And I don't want to be the one who breaks the two of you up.'

'You won't be,' said Ron. 'I've been planning to break up with her for a while. But we've been through this Hermione.'

'I now, But I didn't know what I was loosing, I didn't know that I'd always be in love with you,' said Hermione. 'Even if we don't get together I will never get over you, I love you Ron.'

'I just don't want to go through that horrible pain again if it doesn't work out,' said Ron.

'Me neither,' said Hermione. 'I'd better be going, bye.'

'I guess I'll see you around,' said Ron, 'bye.'

Then Hermione walked towards the door, when she reached it she took a second look at Ron before she turned down the handle and left.

She didn't even consider apparating, tears had started to make their way down her cheeks. She was halfway down the stairs when she heard someone calling her name. Hermione turned around and saw Ron standing at the top of the stairs.

'Hermione, don't go,' said Ron. Hermione shook her head.

'I have to,' said Hermione, while wiping her tears away.

'No,' said Ron walking down the stairs. 'I'm sorry Hermione, I really am. I love you too much to see you get together with another guy again. Because who knows, maybe the next guy's the one.'

'Ron you said it yourself, I don't want to go through that horrible pain if it doesn't work out,' said Hermione.

'It will work out,' said Ron who had now reached her. 'This time nothing can stop us.'

'What about Karen?' asked Hermione.

'Who's Karen?' said Ron smiling before her bent his head down and kissed Hermione softly on the lips. Hermione put her arms around his neck and kissed him back.

'I think you're right, I think this guy's the one,' said Hermione as they broke apart. Ron smiled and kissed her once more.
