Midnight

Prue gasped as she awoke from a deep slumber, her heart hammering in her chest. She had, had that dream again; one where she was clad in black leather priming every available male at a biker bar. This time she was playing pool and had ended up in a confrontation with a scruffy looking clod, leaving his male ego shattered when she chose to leave with another man.

"That seemed so real," she said aloud, softly.

Raising her hand, she let out a long sign as her fingers ran through her dark hair; her green eyes locking on the man sleeping beside her. If it had just been a dream then how come she felt as if she had just betrayed the only man she'd ever loved. "Cheating on someone in your dreams doesn't count," she berated herself, smiling and leaned over kissing his stubble cheek. "Andy, Andy wake up...you need to go"

"Huh? why?" Pulling himself from the haze of sleep Andy attempted to pull Prue back into his arms.

"Because," she squired firmly wriggling away and reaching for the bedside lamp. "I uh-I just need you to go it's an--"

"Yeah, I know-sister thing, an emergency, right?" Andy squinted as his blue eyes fought the brightness that now illuminated the room. "I think by now, you should know you can me tell what it is"

"No I can't"

Thinking quickly, Prue made eye contact on the comfortably worn Levi's crumpled on the floor and flung them into his lap with her telekinetic power. She needed for him to leave so that he wouldn't see that she'd been shaken by the dream. The dream, that was calling her into another man's arms.

Andy stared at her confused "so you want me to leave just like that? Talk about feeling like a boy toy"

"A-n-d-y" she drew out his name as she tried to explain. "You know it isn't like that"

"Do I?" he questioned in agitation tossing back the covers to stand. "All I know is that lately every time we're together you ask me to me leave." Prue remained silent watching as he stepped into his jeans. "I get the feeling your hiding something from me again Prue." he added snatching his shirt from the back of the chair, that was positioned next to Prue's bed.

Prue followed him, as he stalked toward the door. "I'm not hiding anything. I just don't know how to explain it."

"You mean, you don't trust me enough to share it with me." His hand reached for the door coiling around the knob. "Damn it Prue, I thought we were past the secrets stage. " Prue's hand touched his forearm as he attempted to leave. "We are-I just need sometime to sort things out."

"Sort out what? he pressed. I've seen you turn into triplets, a man, and a dog. Hell, I've seen you marry a demon! There's nothing you can't share with me" he cupped her face, watching her green eyes hit the floor in stubborn rejection. "Please just go" Andy clenched his jaw consenting to leave. "This is starting to sound like when you wouldn't tell me you were a witch." Prue waited until he was half way down the stairs. "Wait" she paused until she was certain she had his attention." Andy-I love you"

His hands fell to his hips, his blue eyes narrowing slightly. Prue smiled slightly as he climbed the stairs meeting her at the top step. Andy's eyes soften, meeting hers. "I know. I just wish you trusted me" "I do"

Andy's hand fell into her raven hair, drawing her in close, "then tell me, what's bugging you, Prue?" Prue felt her mind lock wits with the mortal inspector. "I just need to work this out on my own"

"Then I guess we're back to square one." he said flatly. "Good night, Prue" She watched silently with stubborn pride until she heard the thud of the door, turning only when she felt the weight of her younger sister's stare on her back.

"Andy leaving half dressed, that can't be a good sign." The youngest Halliwell stood dressed in nothing but Cole's white dress shirt her arms crossed over her chest. "Neither is you sleeping with a demon" Prue hissed before deciding to head to the attic.

"Half demon" Phoebe countered traipsing after her older sibling. The bedroom door cracked open revealing Cole Turner's bare chest and look of anticipation, angering Prue all the more.

"I thought we talked about this Phoebe. No demons in the house!" Phoebe held up one finger signaling Cole to wait. " Phoebe took hold of his hand, tangling her fingers with his. "Maybe we should continue this later" she said softly.

"Maybe, Prue seems pretty upset" Cole drew her hand to her lips and kissed it gently." It's okay go to your sister"

"Are you sure?"

Cole nodded "positive"

"When will I see you again?" she asked

"When it's safe" Phoebe watched longingly as he disappeared into his shimmer. The youngest Halliwell then trudged her way up the stairs to the attic where she opened the door, poking her head inside carefully.

"Prue, Honey. What happened?"

Prue glanced in Phoebes direction before running her hands through her long sheets of hair, I was with another man tonight" Phoebe stepped inside and followed her older sister to the couch, "but you were with Andy all night" she concluded.

"Yeah and a couple of other people"

"And was one of those people, TJ?" A pensive look crossed Phoebe's face, "so your astral projection is still escaping when you sleep?"

"It's doing more than that,” Prue groaned tightly hugging her knees "things got pretty hot and heavy. I almost found myself making love to another man"

"hmm...maybe it happened because Andy doesn't quite satisfy you in that department?"

"PHOEBE, Be Serious!"

Phoebe scratched her chin trying to exercise some of the information she had learned in psych class, "Well let's think about this for a moment, TJ is young and reckless, doesn't have job, basically he's everything that Andy's not"

"But I love Andy" Prue defended

Phoebe crinkled her nose and made a sour face, "Yeah but you gotta admit Prue, Andy's uh, a little-"

"A little what?" Prue challenged darkly

Phoebe thought carefully, "Mature?"

"Andy is not Mature!" Prue squinted her eyes recalculating what she'd just said, "Wait that didn't come out like I intended"

"Don't get me wrong Prue, I love Andy as much as you do," Phoebe laughed, "the guy died for us to save our powers".

"Don't remind me," Prue said softly remembering the painful time when she and her sisters were caught in a time loop by the demon, Tempus, and his demonic ally, Rodriquez. Andy had rushed in to save them, only to be hit with an energy ball. Thankfully the elders had seen fit to heal Andy and reset time as a gift to Prue for her selfless act, of sacrificing the man she loved for the life of her sisters. Ever since, the witch and mortal had been joined at the hip.

Sensing her sister's frustration, Phoebe gently let her hand take Prues. "I think you at least owe him your honesty Prue; if your astral side keeps escaping to be with another guy, maybe there is something lacking in your relationship" Those weren't the words the raven haired witch wanted to hear Prue thought dryly as Phoebe continued to probe.

"You don't want this to turn into Piper's wedding all over again"

Prue shook her head, feeling her face flush red, as she recalled how her astral projection had managed to reek havoc during the blessed event. "No...No I definitely don't want that to happen again"

"Then you need to let your feelings go, be honest" Phoebe pleaded pulling to her feet, an impishly grin sliding to her lips, "but only after you've had your fun with TJ" "Oooh, Phoebe!"

Apartment of Andy Trudeau

It was nearly three am when Andy hit the sheets of his bed, packing it in for deep slumber. His body turned restlessly under the covers as he thought of Prue. The four beers that he'd consumed after coming home had done little to clear of his head. "Why won't you just talk me?" he questioned reaching out for the bedside photo of the beautiful witch. 'Why were you in such a hurry to make me leave Prue?" A sad smile crossed to his lips as he thought of the time they'd spent together on the swing in heaven. "Maybe it isn't in our destiny to be together" he said aloud turning stubbornly away from the picture. Sleep consumed him almost instantly as his body let the alcohol and the general exhaustion from the day take over, sending him into a plight of a dream.

"Inspector Trudeau?" Andy looked around through the thick swill of fog and spotted a blonde haired women dressed in a long black flowing gown. It didn't take him long before he realized he trapped in the realm of a dream.

"And you are?" Andy tried to move away from her but quickly found his feet were frozen.

"Ashley Berman," the women replied

Berman, the name teased at his brain, possibly something from a case "have we met?"

"Only in our dreams" The young women smiled confidently as she leaned into his lips teasingly. Andy looked at young women confused as he tried to tear his lips from hers, "our dreams?"

"We're in one right now," she smiled sadistically joining her hands around the base of his neck. She then forced a long deep kiss from which he could not escape.

"What are you?" he groaned unable to fight the sensation the kiss had caused.

"Mortal, like you" she said softly letting her lips trail down his neck before pulling away in anger. "My brother was Jack Berman; the infamous scientist who invented dream leaping. You and your witch had him killed.

Andy thought for a moment. 'Berman killed a lot women, crushed their bodies from the inside out while they were sleeping. Prue only gave him what he deserved," Andy replied stiffly, recalling that he'd even tried to kill Prue by waiting until she was so sleep deprived that she ran her car into a telephone pole. He and Morris had been investigating the dream lab when Berman worked and remembered the moment he died trapped within his own dream world, where Prue had used her powers to hurl him off the side of a building.

"Your Very Good, Inspector," Ashley purred letting her fingers rake lightly over his chest. "So let's make this easy. Give me what I want" "And exactly what would that be?"

"Your witch"

Andy's eyes widened slightly as a gun appeared from no where into Ashley's hands. "Call her"

"No" he replied stubbornly, scratching the back of his neck as if he were amused." It doesn't work like that, Prue and I have an agreement. She let's me fight my own battles when mortals are involved and I let her fights the demons."

"Foolish" Ashley smiled sardonically admiring his strong male ego. We'll do it my way, and wait." Her hands squeezed the trigger, and a single shot fired from the gun hitting Andy dead center on the right side of his chest. Ashley smiled wickedly she circled around him taunting her prey as he withering in pain on the floor.

"Inspector, your pain is very real. Don't try to fight it"

Andy felt his body tremble against the excoriating wave, "It's just a dream" he rasped closing his eyes tightly shut.

"Yes, one from which you cannot escape" Ashley replied kneeling his side. "Now call your witch"

Andy swallowed hard, emitting a gulping noise from deep inside his throat, "No...won't let you h-hurt Pr-Prue"

Ashley purred softly in his ear, letting her hand caress the side of his face, " How heroic. Still willing to die for the women you love. She'll come. She and her sisters can't resist saving the life of an innocent especially the one who saved their powers."

Andy's blue eyes closed slowly, letting his body slip into a world of darkness while his mind fought against the vision conjuring in his mind.

For a second time that evening Prue awoke suddenly, this time with the feeling that something was gravely wrong. "Andy" she breathed at the sound of the phone.

She wasted no time in fleeing from her bed, nearly beating Piper to the phone. She watched intently, as her middle sister's' face grew grim, "Thanks, Darryl, we'll be right there" "What it is?"

"Andy. He's been shot"
