Ness: Hi everyone! Arent you just ecstatic to see me again? I know, I know. Its been awhile. Im really sorry. Really, I am. My comp died, but the good news is, I finally got a laptop! YAY! And I turned 16 on May 7th! YAY!
Sirius: :sarcastically: Woohoo!
Ness: :glares at him: Anywhoo... I know almost all of you are waiting for me to update The Pull of a Full Moon and Through The Years, but, to be honest with you, I have got to take a break from them. Not a long one, just long enough to sort out some plot bugs that managed to sneak themselves in. In the meanwhile Ill entertain you all with this new fic. Its more than one chapter, and is set during the Marauder years. I am not using Through The Years as a canon for this fic! This is an AU. Okay? Good. Oh, and as many of you know, Remus girlfriend is You-Know-Who. Those of you who have never read my works, let me just put it this way: If you dont like self-insertions, youd best not read. I mean, its not like a Mary-Sue (actually, Im only in two or three chapters), so dont freak out. Anywhoo...
Disclaimer: I do not own anything you recognize from the books.
Chapter One: Uh oh...
"Isn't she beautiful?" seventeen year-old James Potter sighed, staring down along the table toward his long time crush, Lily Evans.
"Dude," Sirius said, clenching his teeth in annoyance. "Just give up on her already. She's never gonna fall for you."
"Well, you never know," Peter said, reaching for a third helping of eggs. "She may have a change of heart."
"Yeah, sure," Remus said, looking up from his Numerology book and laughing. "Maybe in some alternate universe."
"Why can't you guys be more optimistic like Peter?" James asked, glaring angrily at Sirius and Remus. They merely shrugged in response and went back to what they were doing.
"Hey, speaking of girls," Sirius began, looking up from his breakfast and toward Remus. "Where's Ness?"
Remus shrugged, and frowned in frustration at the mention of his usually punctual girlfriend, "I don't really know. The last time I saw her was yesterday, after lunch. She said she was gonna go to the library. I haven't seen her since. I think she's working on that potions essay."
"Oy, whehf is thaf efsay due anyfay?" Peter asked, his mouth full of food.
"Today," a girl with short brown hair and brownish-green eyes said, taking a seat next to Remus. "And I wasn't working on that, I finished it last week. I found a really cool potion we could try on Snape."
"Were you up all night?" Remus asked looking at Ness tired eyes sternly.
She smiled guiltily, "Yeah."
"What kind of potion?" James asked, snapping his eyes away from Lily and over toward Ness.
"Well," Ness began, smiling sneakily. "If it's brewed correctly, it should make him sing very embarrassing songs without stop every time he opens his mouth."
"That's great!" Sirius said, grinning evilly.
Peter swallowed his food with a strained look on his face, "That essay was due today? Oh, crud!"
"Why? Didn't finish it?" James asked.
"I haven't even started it," Peter replied, putting his head in his hands. "Ness, could I-"
"No," Ness said sternly. Peter stuck his tongue out at her.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Sirius asked in a voice suggesting they were doing something for the good of humanity. "If we're gonna have this potion ready by lunch wed better got started now. To Myrtles place we go!"
Ness laughed, "Aren't you forgetting about classes?"
"They'll be glad to be rid of us for the day," James said, winking charmingly at her as she rolled her eyes.
"Besides," Sirius added, glancing over at Peter. "None of us did that potions essay anyway."
"He's got a point," Remus said, smiling mischievously at his disapproving girlfriend.
"Fine," Ness said, sighing in resignation.
"YAY!" The boys cheered. Ness laughed and led the way from the Great Hall.
"Okay, now all we need is a few Doxy eggs," Ness said, examining the potions book with a furrowed brow. "But no more than three eggs or something terrible will happen... it doesn't say what, but apparently it's bad."
"Sounds exciting," Sirius said, smirking evilly. "Let's try it."
"No!" James said. "What if it makes us ugly? I haven't even had a chance with Lily yet."
"And you never will, Potter," a voice said from the doorway.
"Ugh," Ness said, turning and seeing a red-haired green-eyed girl. "Lily, what are you doing here?"
"Well, I saw you guys leave the Great Hall this morning and then I noticed that you weren't at any classes earlier so I wanted to know what you were doing," Lily said, shrugging innocently. "So when I saw Vanessa sneak out of the potions storeroom with a bunch of potions ingredients, I decided to follow her. You're doing something against the rules, aren't you?"
"Not that it's any of your business, Evans," Sirius said, glaring at her. "But yes, we are. Now go back to class and leave us be."
"I don t think so, Black," Lily said, poking Sirius sternly in the chest. "You could hurt someone with an illegal potion!"
"Oh, please, Lily," Ness said, rolling her eyes and lifting the bag of doxy eggs to pour into the cauldron.
"No!" Lily shouted, taking out her wand and pointing it at Ness. "Expelliarmus!"
The spell shot from Lily's wand and hit Ness in the chest, sending her backwards and knocking the doxy eggs out of her hands. As the bag hit the concoction brewing in the cauldron, a huge explosion rocked the bathroom.
"Ugh..." Ness shouted in frustration, coughing as she waved the smoke from her face. "Lily! How stupid can you be? I should—"
Ness stared at the empty room in horror, "...Uh oh."
Ness: Well? What do you think of chapter one, hmm? Oh, I had midnight tickets to the PoA premier. It was really good and Sirius is so funny. And they made Remus like a main character. He was like in every scene. It was so cool. I wanna see it again.
Remus: It was rather good, wasnt it? I wanna see it again too.
Sirius: :puts on a pair of sunglasses: Totally, man.
James: Well, dont forget to review!
All: See you next time!
