Magnificent Millicent, and other Harry Potter spin-offs

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Harry Potter characters portrayed here, in this fic. I don’t think I own Millicent Bulstrode’s cat either…..

Please read and review. Constructive criticism is valued. Flames will be acknowledged, but not with a happy heart.

Millicent Bulstrode was on the Hogwarts Express, going back to her home in London. Her parents owned a muggle sweetshop, which explained her size. They lived in a house above the shop, and Millicent liked to eavesdrop on the people who came into her parents’ store. In due time, when she was 18, she’d have to take care of the shop and run it. She wasn’t a very cheerful person, although she was very quiet.

Since she was five, Millicent had always wanted a companion. Her parents rarely spoke to her, and when they did, their voice was concealed by a heavy layer of cheerfulness. So, at the age of 10, when her sorrowful face had gotten unbearable, her father took her to a petshop where she was allowed to get herself a pet. Millicent made eye-contact with a light-brown, chubby feline. She christened him, “Nutmeg,” and ran off to pick him up and heave him to the counter.

Her parents were delighted with the new smile that always shone on her face when she was in the company of Nutmeg. And they were all the more delighted when she was accepted into Hogwarts. They invented a new sweet in her name, called “Milly Mice.” They came into the city with a pleasant outcome of visitors pouring into the shop asking for a full-batch.

Millicent sighed as she thought of her lack of friends. She was a Slytherin, so not many people at school welcomed her when they saw her. Mostly glares shot at her when she would walk into a room, but she had done nothing to offend their presence. In fact, her favorite class, was NOT potions, but it was transfiguration. Something that she was not incredibly gifted at, but enjoyed thoroughly, even if she was constantly being scolded by Professor McGonagoll.

The train conductor announced that there was only ten minutes left until they came to station. A very bright smile lit up her face as she thought of her beloved Nutmeg. Somehow, life didn’t seem so miserable that much anymore. She gathered her things as the station came into sight, and bolted off the train when the doors opened. She caught sight of her mother and father immediately, and ran towards their outstretched arms. This was the first time she had smiled in public since the petshop incident. In her father’s hands was Nutmeg. Millicent squealed and took her from his grip, and gave him her trunk. Finally, her parents weren’t fakely smiling at her anymore. They were wearing genuine smiles, just as she.

“Guess what Father?”

“What, my dear?”

She smiled even brighter. “I think I got at least 9 OWL’s this semester.”

Hermione looked on beside Neville at Millicent’s happy face. No one was really able to believe that it was her.

“Can you believe it? A Slytherin is actually pretty.”

Neville glanced at Millicent a last time before heading towards his grandmother.

‘Maybe I’ve found a friend…….’

Maybe he had.

Pathetic? Brilliant? Should I write about Parvati and Padma next?

Review please!
