What is Hope?

I sit in bed, late at night, and ponder a question I have always wondered, What is hope?

People often talk about it but do they know its meaning? I wonder, if they did know, Would the world be so corrupt?

Is hope a sudden flicker of a candle In a dark and silent abyss? I wonder if it is.

Is hope a child's giggle in an overwhelming sea of cries? I wonder if it is.

Can you tell me? I'm dying to know. As I slip beneath the shadows, What is hope?

Can someone tell me? Quick before I'm gone! What is hope, and can it be mine?

I look to the dark pit but instead I'm on angel's wings! He softly whispers in my ear, then sets me to the ground

I'm back in bed, but I no longer ponder the question that nagged at me. For now I know what hope is It is reassurance from an angel and undying love from a heavenly father
