"Still They Sleep"

Work: The Lord of the Rings
Character(s): none (Dead Marshes)
Category: Poetry
Rating: PG

-

Under a sheet of water
Phantoms from the past all green and pale
Like viewed through glass and mist
All dead, so long gone

Little candles light at night
Under a dead sky with no stars
Rot and water glow as one
And still they sleep

Pale hair floating and soft tattered rags
A faded standard, suspended, stagnant
Ghostly faces and gossamer weapons
Pray do not disturb them

Some are sad and noble
And some twisted and cruel
But now they lie the same
In a fen so forsaken

Comments? Favorite/least favorite lines or parts? This poem just sort of popped into my head and was screaming to be written despite its utter pointlessness. I like it though ;)
