Hello guys! It's me again. I got the idea for this story when I was bored. It's a one shot so I do not intend to update it, unless I rewrite it, which I probably will not do. Gohan – 15, Goten - 3

Disclaimer: I do not own DBZ, which is owned by Akira Toriyama, and I do not own the book in this story, which is a game and owned by Sega. It's called Phantasy Star II and was released way back in 1989 on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.

Summary: The latest chapter in Goten's bedtime story reminds Gohan of Goku's death. Will Goten be able to help heal his brother's scar?

Good and Evil

"Brother! Brother! Story time!" a feisty little toddler shouted inside his room at the opened door. It was bedtime and that meant that his big brother was to read him the next tale in his book.

A couple of seconds later, the boy's teenage brother walked in and ruffled his hair. Goten loved his big brother very much, he was always there for him and protected him from all the monsters underneath his bed.

"Calm down squirt!" the teenager shouted at the boy jumping in his little bed. It was so old; he once slept in that thing. He noticed that Goten was trying to reach for the top of the bookshelf, his little hand trying to grab a hold of a book that was hanging out a bit.

Gohan giggled and grabbed a chair and pulled it up to his brother's bedside. "I'll just wait until you catch it," he laughed.

Goten stopped jumping and turned to his brother and just stared at him. His eyes slowly began to shine and he locked deep into his brother's mind. "You're so mean! MEANIE!!! I want mama to read my story now!"

Gohan then jumped up and grabbed the book out of the shelf and picked Goten up. He started to swing him around, Goten began to laugh until Gohan stopped and laid him in his bed and pulled the covers up to his armpits.

"You know I was only kidding Goten!" Gohan chuckled to his little sibling. Goten gave a brief nod and pointed to the book. Gohan knew how stubborn Goten was and wanted his book to be read now. Gohan sighed and look at it.

"Phantasy Star, Part Two: The Great Collapse"

It retained its position among classics such as Alice in Wonderland and the Hobbit. It's previous book that started this four-part saga off which was one of his mother's favourite books. The second one took place after the first and Chichi had read it to Goten a night and he loved it.

Gohan liked the storyline and it's characters especially the one named Nei. The poor girl was a numan, half human and half biomonster, which made her an outcast to society. However, an agent named Rolf saw the person for who she was and took her in. He liked how she had cat like ears on the top of her head and had long purple head.

Last night's chapter proved to be quite a climax...Rolf, Nei, Rudo, Ami and Anna had finally broken into the water control tower called Climacontrol and in the center of this dungeon they found a woman. The chapter finished with the words coming from Rolf's mouth: "What's this? She looks exactly like Nei!"

"Brother! Are you there?"

Gohan came back into the focus with the words of his little brother shouting at him. He smiled and stroked Goten's forehead, "Sorry about that, wanna get started?" he softly said. Goten just nodded and Gohan opened the thick book from the red bookmark. He took a breath and read on.

Chapter Thirty-Nine (AN: I don't know what this would be at in the game because this is pretty much about half way into it)

Good and Evil

Indeed she did, she had the exact same body swimsuit type armor and boots, except they were the colour of red not purple. Though she did have Nei's famous long purple hair, the cat like ears on the top of her head and the deep red eyes.

Nei took a step back from the person standing in front of her. No scratch that, the monster standing in front of her.

"I am Neifirst," she said. Her voice was deep and as cold as ice. "I am a Numan, I was created here through genetic enhancement of scientists using the DNA of a human and a Musk Cat. However those pathetic humans wanted to use me as a pet, I just couldn't allow that to let them walked all over me so I killed them and vowed to take revenge on the human race!"

Rolf couldn't believe what he was hearing from this person who was called Neifirst. Nei remained still.

"That person behind you four is the same, a monster! She will want to kill you all and seek her revenge!" Neifirst pointed at the shivering Nei.

Nei however, grew anger. How dare she try to control my emotions! "I do not! I was in Neifirst for a very long time! I hated it! It was filled of vengeance, hatred and pure evil. I was so glad when I was able to escape,"

Rolf, Rudo, Ami and Anna were confused with the words of conflict that was being thrown between the two numans.

"You? Haha! Yeah right! You want to help these pathetic humans?"

"Yes! And I will stop you if I have to!" Nei shouted and she attached her Laconian Claws to her hands and looked at Neifirst. Neifirst just looked back at her and an evil grinned formed on her face.

She began to laugh, quiet but began to get louder. "Really? Then go! Attack me! Kill me!" she shouted.

Nei however remained motionless and looked back at the numan. She didn't want to move, she knew what would happen if she killed her.

Unknown to Rolf and the others, Nei's full name was Neisecond. She was the good side of Neifirst's soul; so desperate to escape the evil side it created it's own form and ran away seven months ago. That meant if Nei killed Neifirst, then she would die to.

A gasp left Goten's mouth as he heard what came from Gohan's lips. Gohan sighed, "Just like Piccolo," he muttered.

Neifirst swiftly fixed her hair and create a tiny energy ball in her left hand. She looked at the humans beside Nei. "Stay out of this humans, this is between us sisters," she shouted.

Neifirst fired the energy ball at them, which created a force field, trapping them. She then turned to her sister who was in fighter's stance.

Neifirst raised her arms and separated them for a second and swung them forward. Suddenly, the room grew very dark and a very evil flash of Neifirst's face started to flicker above her with her hair failing down to ground.

Suddenly, the two numans immediately jumped at each other and started to throw their claws. They were clashing, a cling could be heard nearly every second. Nei had two but Neifirst had only one but she was far more experienced than her younger sister.

She swiftly kicked Nei in the chest, sending her flying across the room and Nei hit her back on the machines. Neifirst felt her back being attacked as soon as Nei hit the wall. She smirked.

She raised her hand with her claw up into the air and then threw it down to the ground. A huge claw appeared over Nei and swooped down to attack her. Nei managed to quickly jump out of the way and threw her own body into Neifirst's.

They both hit the ground and got up instantly and began clashing their claws again. Nei managed to break free of the hold Neifirst had on her and sliced her right quickly. Blood fell from both the girl's arms as a wound was opened on Nei's arm to.

Neifirst gave Nei in return a huge kick to her face tipping her over and Neifirst quickly grabbed her hair before it fell out of her reach. She began to pull and twist Nei's hair as she screamed. Neifirst could also feel her hair being pulled as she slowly began to swing Nei around. She picked up speed as she thrown Nei into the wall.

Nei was in pain as she hit it but she knew her sister was in to. However, she had been learning her own tricks to and she quickly pushed her feet on the wall and back flipped in the air.

Neifirst didn't notice this until Nei's heel boots had grabbed the sides of her head and lifted her up as Nei softly landed on the ground taking Neifirst into the air and slamming her back into the ground.

They continued to feel pain as they hit each other and opened up wounds letting fresh blood flow. They were both extremely weak as they looked at each other.

Rolf and the others were continually trying to break free of the dome Neifirst however, managed to recover a bit quicker than Nei as she jumped straight at her, with her claw pointing.

Screams could be heard from them both as it ripped right through Nei's chest.

Goten broke into tears but Gohan was so locked into the story he didn't even hear him.

The dome faded around Rolf and the others as they saw what had happened. Rolf quickly ran to Nei as Neifirst pulled her claw back out.

Nei fell back to the ground but Rolf caught her.

"Oh...Rolf?" her voice whispered. It was so quiet she couldn't even speak properly.

"I'm right here!" he spoke to her.

Nei lifted her right hand weakly and touched Rolf's cheek. "Please promise me...you won't...forget..." Rolf tried to speak but he was holding back tears. "You're my friend...you're the...only...friend I've ever had,"

Neifirst looked at them.

"Please...please...stop Mother Brain from...creating more of...us...and...you...must...spread the love...you shared with...me...to all the people...of Algol..." Nei's voice spoke no more as her eyes slowly closed forever.

Rolf trying to wake her up as Neifirst laughed hideously before her soul left her body as well and Rolf shouted Nei's name.

Gohan slammed the book shut quickly. His eyes were shining as tears raced down his cheeks. He didn't notice that two small arms wrapped themselves around his waist.

"Daddy..." left his mouth quietly. Nei's death, his father's death. Their words were almost exactly the same. Goku told him he loved him and that he was very proud of him. He told him to take care of his mother, as she needed him.

Nei told Rolf to never forget who he was and to spread the love he shared with her to all of their solar system. She told him to stop the evil...Goku had told him not to be sad and Nei had told Rolf not to sad.

Gohan missed his dad so much it hit him hard. It was his entire fault that his dad died and he could never really tell anyone of the demons that were deep inside him.

Sure Goten had brightened his life but he looked so much like his father it hurt to look at him sometimes. He loved his brother dearly just as he loved his father but it was Goten who made he hate nearly everything in his life as he looked so much like Goku.

Gohan then heard a sniffing on his chest and he looked down to find Goten on his lap hugging him.

"I'm sorry Goten," he said weakly.

"It's okay big brother, you said it's okay to cry,"

Gohan then remembered him saying that to Goten when Trunks said it was very not cool to cry.

"I did say that didn't I?" Gohan said as he wiped his eyes. He didn't care; he just wanted his dad back. "I'm just sad for Nei, she must be to..."

"Uh uh!" Goten shouted. Gohan then suddenly looked down at him. How can't she and Rolf be! Rolf has just lost the person who meant most to him! Just like how I lost the person who meant most to me! He shouted to himself. He needed his father back; he didn't know how to cope anymore.

Gohan looked at his little brother to find that he was smiling at him. Goten reached up with his little arm and wiped the tears off his face.

"Nei wasn't sad cause she told Rolf that she was happy and that he shouldn't be sad that she was dyin' so he wasn't. She said that cause she loved him and he loved her,"

It hit him then really hard. Gohan looked at his brother's coal like eyes and stared. How can a three-year old know that when I've been trying to figure it out since dad died when I was eleven? The boy was so much like him in many ways but not just in appearance but also in personality and now in thought. The boy saw the light but the teenager couldn't but now he understood.

Goku died because he wanted to protect his family, friends and the world from evil. Because he loved them, not just to protect everyone. Gohan had forgotten what he really said when Cell was about to self-destructed. It broke his heart when his dad said that he would never be coming back but he would see them again.

Gohan smiled and tears of joy started to fall down his face and he hugged Goten tightly with Goten hugging him back. He snuggled into his brother's hair.

"I love you Goten,"

"I love you to big brother,"

Gohan was finally healed as he looked out into the night sky with no moonshining.

"Thank you Nei"
