A/N: I wrote the song that Luna sings here makes scared face and it’s much prettier if you could hear me sing it, but you can’t, so I guess just use your imagination. Any way, this is pretty much a one shot unless, I don’t know, I come up with something else fun to do with this.
You Were Meant For Me
The Great Hall was full of noise as the students all sat eating happily. Luna sat at the Ravenclaw table, presumably daydreaming about something. About someone actually. Her large eyes found their rest upon the redhead seated at the Gryffindor table directly across from her. He of course took no notice of her staring, or if he did he didn’t let on. Talking at the same time as he ate, his eyes never once met hers until the very end of the meal.
Not having touched her food at all, she knew it wasn’t just the food when Ron’s eyes locked with hers. Instead of smiling, he gave her a nasty scowl before savagely stabbing into a piece of pie.
Without understanding why, Luna stood quickly from the table, and ran from the room. Her feet carried her from the hall all the way to her dormitory. Flinging herself on the bed, she lay face down on the dark velvet quilt for ages.
The other girls came into the room eventually, each one ignoring Luna and pretending to fall right to sleep as soon as they hit the bed. Once she was sure all of them really were asleep, Luna ran out of the common room.
Her feet led her to the courtyard, and she collapsed onto the fountain, the night sky reflecting in the glassy water. Both feet dipped into the cool water, the warm breeze blowing her hair gently in the sultry night air.
An unexplainable urge came over her as she sat there staring at her blurry reflection, feet slowly churning the fountain water, all reason gone from her mind.
She wanted Ron Weasley.
He hated her.
But why?
A whisper filled the air; she turned but was still alone in the dark stone yard. A hum slipped from her lips as she sat, emotions taking over. Standing up, she began tracing the curve of the fountain with her fingertips as she danced around it, hair swishing out behind her as she moved to her own music.
A poem she had written came to her mind as she danced, and she began to sing quietly but passionately.
Boy, if I could show you one thing
Would you want to see my world
Would you care to be my world?
Oh, all the great big sky
Is shining in your eyes
But for all that shines
You can’t seem to see me
What would it take
For you to see the me
That I know you could see
How can I get you to be
The boy that I see
When I look in those great eyes
Instead of the boy standing outside
In the pouring rain
I laughed at your face
As you ran from me
Why won’t you see
I’m just a girl from a place
Not so different from your world
Why do you refuse to believe
I can be something more than what you see
There’s so much more, so much more
Than what everyone else sees
If you could just get beyond
My outer being
Oh you would see
What beauty can really be
La la la la la, yeah yeah yeah
If you could only see…
You were meant for me
"Someday Ron, maybe you’ll see"
The silence rang out after the last words were said. Luna suddenly became very aware of how exposed the courtyard was, and worried if someone had heard her.
Grabbing her bag from the edge of the fountain, she made a move for the school when someone stepped out from the shadows.
A tall, freckly, redheaded someone stepped out blocking her entrance to the school.
Wearing a smile on his face as his great green eyes locked with her blue.
