Chapter 24: Sprit of Purity
“I hate you,” she repeated. He blinked, his eyes felt wet, but he held back his tears.
“Sakura…”
“Get away from me. Run far away and never come back.” She barked at him. “Far, far away.”
“Sakura if you hadn’t trapped us back here I would slap you right about now!” Tomoyo yelled.
“You’re satisfied aren’t you?” Sakura asked Voldemort. “You’re enjoying this. I don’t care if I have to claw at your heart with my own two hands.” Syaoran gripped her by the shoulder and looked her straight in the eye.
“What did I do?” He asked. She looked away.
“Leave!” She pushed him backward. He stumbled backwards. She turned to Voldemort.
“Firey! Earthy! Windy! Watery!” Nothing happened.
“I have your Clow Book, you’re powerless.”
“Not necessarily.” A pink light filled the room. When the lights faded out, Sakura had disappeared.
“Only one less to deal with…. Now to rid of the rest of…,” he was cut off, attacked by a large red ball.
“Leave my friends out of this.” Pink wings fluttered from Sakura’s back, in her hand was a small staff on top was the same symbol that was on her ring. Her hands were glowing pink.
“Sakura?”
Flashes of light, but nobody could make out what was happening through the smoke and chaos.
“I’m tired of waiting and just letting our own friend get beat up by some stupid wizard.” Tomoyo said, beating on the shield.
“Yeah, c’mon,” Hermione said. Ron, Harry, Hermione, and Meiling began thumping the shield.
“If only we had some…laser thingy.” Tomoyo said, she looked at her fingers and slipped off her ring. “Bam..BAM!” She said, holding the ring to the shield.
“What the heck was that?”
“A sad, failed attempt to get out.” Tomoyo replied.
“Wait, you’ve got an idea there,” Harry said. “We should at least attempt to unlock our rings right?”
“What are we suppose to do? Yell ‘CRYSTAL OF DETERMINATION?” Meiling said sarcastically, her ring began to glow a dark red.
“Whattayaknow, Meiling did something right.” Ron said. Meiling punched him in the stomach. They all cried out, wings emerged from their backs, and their rings transformed into staffs.
“I have wings…only GIRLS are suppose to have wings.” Ron said, poking at his back.
“Quit complaining and help me break this open,” Tomoyo muttered, “I can’t do anything with my abilities.”
“I’ve no idea how to use my ring or anything thought,” Hermione said. “And Sakura’s magic is really powerful.”
“You four have the elemental rings, that should be as strong as the Fiery, Watery, Earthy, and Windy cards. Haven’t you been listening to Hikari-san’s lessons?”
“Uh….” Tomoyo sweatdropped.
“This stinks.” Ron leaned onto the shield and fell flat onto his rear.
“Ron! Are you alright?” Hermione kneeled by his side.
“Yeah, I’m alright.”
“HIS THICK SKULL BROKE THE SHIELD!” Meiling cried.
“Gee, I’m so glad you’re so concerned about how my thick skull hurts like hell right now.”
“It seems that the rings have made our own auras to multiply in power.”

Syaoran…
My only one…
I have to fight…for him…
or else lose him…forever
---
Deatheaters swarmed the group, Tomoyo, Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Meiling took their positions, preparing to fight back quickly.
“Promise me that we will make it back ok,” Tomoyo said softly, almost in a whisper, and the battle began.
Hermione’s hands had turned blue, as she had the power of water, streams of water burst from her hands, knocking two of the deatheaters out. “I thought it’d be hard to control our powers…but it’s quite easy.”
“Says you. I never listened to Hikari’s ramblings.” Ron said thickly, his red hands blasting fire at random places…which just happened to be at some of the deatheaters’ faces.
“Ron you moron you’ll hit the wrong person sometime!” Hermione exclaimed chasing after him to assure nobody else, besides the deatheaters, would be hit.
“Hermione-san…watch out behind you!” Tomoyo yelled, a deatheater was about to attack her, Tomoyo threw herself in the way.
“Tomoyo!”
---
“Hikari…you can’t let Voldemort control you. You’re your own person.” Sakura attempted…trying to bring her out.
“Silence.” Voldemort roared. “Crucio!”
Sakura waved her hand in front of her, the spell flew off in another direction. She flung a second ball of fire at him…Voldemort took one step to the side, avoiding the attack.
“Why can’t I hit you?” she yelled in anger. She hurled a second fire ball at his head, but it missed as well. “Hikari! Wake up!” She tried again. In frustration, she accidentally threw her staff at his head. “Ah! No!” Instead of hitting Voldemort’s head a second staff floated upwards towards hers…Hikari’s.
Sakura, caught up in watching the staffs, didn’t see an attack coming up from her. When she realized it was coming it was far too late for her to dodge, it struck her hard. She fell to the ground- feeling weak.
“Don’t” Voldemort said, “even make an effort to rise from your position.” She could barely hear his voice…only crashes from some where else. Her vision slowly grew fainter then…blackout.
---
“Tomoyo!” Just before the deatheater made it’s mark, Harry tackled him from the side.
“Hermione…are you alright?” Tomoyo asked.
“Yes, I’m fine…but what about Harry?” Hermione questioned.
“He’ll be ok…Ron, don’t use your powers, you‘re just not ready…for now use your wand.” Tomoyo ordered. Ron nodded, resisting the urge to argue with her, and took out his wand. His wings shrunk then disappeared.
“There’s several of them left…Harry’s well…he’s doing his thing.” Tomoyo concluded. Meiling limped over.
“I took out as many as I could…but I can’t go any further. I’m too badly injured to do anything else.” Meiling said with a sad expression.
“Tomoyo…” Hermione paused to smack a deatheater with a stream of water, “Couldn’t you just heal Meiling?”
“I-I’m scared if I mess up. She might be injured more then ever.” Tomoyo said. “Besides there’s not that many left…Hermione, Ron, and Harry can take them. I’ll watch over Meiling. Afterwards….we really need to help Sakura. She’s in there battling Voldemort by herself…Syaoran isn’t quite ready to battle him alone.” They all nodded in agreement…Hermione and Ron took off to help Harry.
“I feel so useless here…” Tomoyo said.
“You aren’t useless, Daidouji-san!” Meiling said. “You’re a good strategist.”
“Besides that…all I can do is heal people.” Tomoyo stated. “And at that I’m no good either.”
“You haven’t even tried! Come now---my injury is in my leg. Help me.”
“I can’t!”
“Try at least!” Meiling exclaimed.
“Alright…I guess. I’ll…try then.” Tomoyo bent down next to her, her hands hovering over Meiling’s wound-glowing lavender.
---
“Sakura…wake up. Hurry, we all need your help. You must wake up!” Sakura stirred before her eyes gradually opened. Next to her was Hikari prodding her to awake.
“What…where am I?” Sakura asked. “Hikari! You’re out of---”
“No. I am still under his possession…I am in spirit form. Quickly now…I have many things to show you to help your success in winning this fight. This is the only way I can assist.” Hikari said, running off.
“Wa-wait!” Sakura ran after her. She caught up to Hikari, panting heavily. “Hikari-san…where are we?”
“In a Memory…my memories. I have information I can show you…not tell you…in the dwellings of this place. I can show you…the battle between my siblings and I with Zylon witches. Their power and fighting style solely came from Voldemort‘s power. ”
“I thought you said that the witches stole the crystals and imitated their magic to defeat you.”
“This is true…but before they were very weak until Voldemort revealed to them we won by the power of our crystals. In thus, he gave them powers to which they could create replicas of our rings. It was he, who wanted so much to rid the world of muggle-borns, used the witches to defeat us to gain new powers.” Hikari stopped. “I can not take you any further…I must go now. My siblings will lead you on. All seven will show you one memory of the past that will help you with this fight.” Hikari finished.
“Hikari…you could stop all of this by fighting Voldemort’s control of you off.”
“I’m too weak. I need your help.”
“You aren’t too weak…Hikari---”
“I have to go, do not waste time. The first sibling has arrived. I bid you farewell.” Hikari dissolved. Sakura was confused…she turned around to see a figure, female. She had long black hair that fell to her waist and amethyst eyes…much like Tomoyo.
“Hello, I am the bearer of the Ring of Purity. My name is Merodi,” she introduced. “Don’t worry…I know your name. Come with me. The first memory you need to see is how the Rings were first created.”
“How would we be able to---” There was a flash of lavender lights then nothingness.
“I bid you ado fighters of Zarfina. You eight siblings are the only ones who can fight against this evil force. Each of you…are destined to create a Ring of power you will wield to help fight against this war. The Protectors of Light.” A tall man said, he had dark blue hair that was twisted into a ponytail. His robes were also blue and elegant-looking. He stood before a group of eight people- Hikari among them.
“Wait a minute…I know him. That’s Clow Reed!” Sakura cried.
---
“Sakura…” Syaoran whispered--shocked. Her body was pale, lying on the floor. “I let you down…I let you…die.” He ran to her body, holding it tenderly in his arms. “It can’t…be.”
“But it is.” The dark lord himself said. “Now the Staffs of Light and Faith, and the Book of Clow are mine.” He smiled spite himself.
“I’ll never…forget or forgive.” Syaoran said, his head down, his expression in shadows. “For killing the girl…most precious to me.” He brandished a sword in his hand glowing green. He ran towards him and slashed a cut onto his body.
“AGH!” A female scream was heard…Hikari’s voice.
---
“I-I can’t do it!” Tomoyo said, her face strained as she tried to heal Meiling’s leg.
“You’re doing fine Daidouji-san…keep going!” Meiling urged.
“Arg!” Tomoyo gave the leg one last push of magic before falling backwards.
“You did it! My leg…It’s fine!”
“Y-yeah…I did. Come, let’s meet up with Harry and the others…then we’ll assist Sakura.”
“Right!”
