FOUNDER'S LEGACY
Part 3
Love through the Time
Chapter 19: Lily’s Unfortunate Day
After that, disastrous first dinner things went back to normal quickly, but Lily kept her distance from Salazar's relatives. She was frigidly polite but she never repeated actions from the first night. The strange glint in her brother-in-laws’ eyes was annoying her and Lily could almost taste their arousal when she entered a room they were occupying. That caused her to spend most of her time with Salazar or Severin. The situation was getting unbearable. The strangest thing was Andreas who avoided Lily and his youngest son.
'Maybe he took the lesson to heart and hopefully he won't be insulting someone without getting all the facts ever again.' Lily thought viciously.
It was late afternoon and Lily was trying to find Salazar, when she started getting some strange vibes. Her body started shaking and the hallway darkened before her eyes.
'They poisoned me. ' she realized. The small snack she ate only about fifteen minutes ago was the cause. She desperately clutched the wall. She did not want to loose her consciousness. She tried to shake off the effects of a poison she felt spreading inside her body. She lost the fight and fell to the ground in deep sleep.
Morfet smirked cruelly; he had been following her, waiting for when the poison would act.
“You'll pay now, bitch. Incarcerous! Silencio! Locomotor Mortis!” Morfet then touched the right brick on the wall and slinked inside the narrow tunnel with Lily floating right behind him. The entrance closed with slight creak.
Morfet sneaked out of the castle with his sister-in-law still unconscious. A group of riders were already waiting for him in the village. Morfet sneered at the leader, “She is here.” as he dispelled the charms. Lily dropped to the ground.
One of the riders recast the spells on the young woman and took her on his horse. As soon as Lily was in their grasp, Morfet asked. “And where is my payment?”
“It's here.” The leader answered. ''Avada Kedavra!”
Morfet did not have a chance to evade the deadly curse. He died with surprise still etched on his face. The kidnappers rode away leaving his body lying in the centre of the village without care. A message carved into his chest, containing only one word. TRAITOR.
Salazar was nervous. It was evening and his father was still prattling on about useless nonsense. His other brothers and their petty wives had already retired for the night. Suddenly a group of villagers entered the dining room carrying a body.
“Morfet!” Andreas cried out. The villagers left quickly seeing the rage building on their Lord's face. A house-elf popped into the room. She bowed lowly to Salazar and frantically informed him. “Master Slytherin, the Lady has vanished! She said she would look for you because Master Severin made his toys float, but the Lady hasn't returned and it’s been a few hours.”
A frost fist squeezed Salazar's heart. “Look after Severin, Binky. Nobody can come within ten feet of him except Lily or me. I am permitting you to use force to deter intruders. Now go, Binky.” He shakily ordered.
The house-elf popped out. Salazar turned his attention to his father. The pieces of a puzzle fell into their place suddenly. He approached him and hissed angrily. “What did you do to my wife?”
“She had it coming.” Andreas defended.
Salazar's blood boiled. He remembered quite well, what had happened last time someone abducted Lily, even if others only had hazy memories of it, Lily especially had only a few memories of her abduction. Salazar caught his father under his neck and almost chocked him, the magic flashed dangerously around the dark-haired Founder. “I want to know what you did to her. NOW!”
Andreas gulped; his youngest son was frightening. “Potters.” He choked out, “They wanted to weaken you. They promised money.”
“Do you know what you did?” Salazar asked coldly as his dark aura expanded from him, causing the castle to shake. “The Potters want revenge.” He hissed as he let his father fall to the ground. “I killed Adam Potter because he abducted and almost killed my wife.”
Andreas was frightened; he knew his son had a right to kill him there. Especially since, he had turned a member of an Ancient house over to the enemies. He only hoped Salazar would not go that far.
Salazar continued. The loathing was evident in his voice. “You are going to get my wife back. I do not care if you have to declare the war on Potters to do so, but I want my wife back. Then you are going to stay away from us. I will disown myself from the Gaunt family as soon as possible. If you do not accept these conditions, I am going to destroy you and the Gaunt name. You will not be able to show your face anywhere near decent society. I swear to it. You have three days.” Salazar turned his back on his father and left the older man shaking in fear after his display of magic.
Lily groaned. Her head was pounding. As she opened her bleary eyes, she immediately noticed that she was not in her room; she was not even in Gaunt Castle . The walls were a tasteful blue colour and the furniture and the colouring complimented each other perfectly. She sighed when she understood. “Not again.”
“Not again Lady Slytherin?” asked an unfamiliar male voice. She could detect the loathing poured into her title. Lily turned her head in the direction where the voice came. She recognized the man’s features; he was an older, more mature version of her ex-friend Adam Potter..
“Lord Potter, I assume.” Lily replied in the same tone. “I hope you know what you are doing.” she sneered coldly. “My husband will be most displeased by your actions, and that’s not to mention his cousins.”
“What are you talking about Lady?”
“Your son made a similar mistake by kidnapping me; my husband killed him for it.”
“Don't you dare to badmouth my son! He was honourable young man whom your husband murdered.”
''Why don't you get all facts before you jump to conclusions? Your baseless accusations are getting on my nerves; you are in the same league as Salazar's father. I had to put him in his place; you will not like it if I have to do the same to you as well. For your information, your son abducted me only a few days before my wedding. He wanted to force me to marry him. However, he did not count on the previous bond I shared with my husband.. Already bound to Salazar by Ancient rites, he could no more force me to marry them than he could stop the sun in its orbit.”
“You lie.” Lord Potter jumped angrily at Lily's accusations.
The redhead smirked coldly. “Really?”
That infuriated the old man and he had to vacate the room quickly. He was furious with the girl. She was annoying and she kept questioning him and his authority.
“Guard her!” He barked to his sons. Then he stormed downstairs still fuming silently. ‘How dare she slur the Potter name! That power-hungry harlot!’
“Dear, a letter has come from the Head of the House of Gaunt” Lady Potter interrupted his rages. Opening the letter, he found a declaration of war.
Lord Potter’s smirk was feral. He would avenge his son soon.
The three days passed quickly and Andreas got a small message from Lord Potter. ‘Bring it on, Gaunt.’ Andreas informed his son about Potter's answer. Salazar smirked coldly. He took all of his and Lily's things, his son and his house-elf and returned to Hogwarts; he had a score to settle with the troublesome Potters. He was certain his cousins would help him.
“Where is Lily?” Rowena started to interrogate him as soon as he appeared in the castle.
“My dear father sold her to Potters. They wanted revenge for Adam Potter's death.” Salazar spat. “They refused to return her.”
“They are stubborn fools.” Godric sighed. “We should have expelled every member of the Potter family from Hogwarts after Lily was kidnapped for the first time. Don't worry Salazar; the Gryffindor family is going to back you.”
“The Ravenclaw will declare the war on Potters if Lily isn't returned.” Rowena added hotly. Her descendant had bad luck; she was always attracting trouble and danger.
“I would like to declare war on the Potters too, but I have to remain neutral and look after Hogwarts.” Helga said peacefully.
“You said that there are some Potters in the school.” Salazar asked calculatingly.
“No!” Rowena drew the line. “We are not going to lower ourselves to their level and use children as bargaining chips in the war.”
“Why not? They took my wife. I want finally to give them a lesson they won't forget. I do not want Lily to go through another isolation after her abduction!” Salazar shouted.
“I am still not going to allow you to use those children.” Rowena glared at Salazar.
“Fine.” Salazar retorted and stalked out of the room with his son.
Lord Potter got another three declarations of war that evening.
“What does this mean?” Lord Potter asked as he shoved three letters towards Lily. “I got them last evening.”
Lily smirked in amusement. She taunted condescendingly. “You don't know?”
“I want to know why Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are declaring war at me, girl.”
“I told you. You do not have all the facts. You are self-centred pureblood who cannot see the truth even if it is dangling right in front of him.”
“I am waiting, Lady, or would you like to try the hospitality of our prison?” He asked. He had hard time containing his desire to hit the cocky girl.
Lily arched an eyebrow. She was smiling inwardly; she had finally managed to get under Potter's skin. “Well, I am the wife of Lord Slytherin…”
“I know that girl.” Lord Potter interrupted through clenched teeth.
“But, I am also the niece of Lady Ravenclaw. Lady Ravenclaw, Lord Gryffindor, and Lord Slytherin are cousins; their mothers were sisters.” Lily said she took pleasure in watching the growing horror on Lord Potter's face. It seemed he had not thought of that. “You should really pay more attention to history.” Lily added viciously. She lived to annoy Potters.
“Be quiet, harlot!” the angry lord bellowed.
“Do you realize whom you are insulting?” Lily asked frostily. “I am looking forward to seeing my husband flatten you.”
“Father, Father!” Michael, the Potter's eldest son shouted as he ran into the room.
“What?” Lord Potter shouted. Lady Slytherin really got on his nerves.
“We are surrounded.” Michael said nervously. “The Gaunts, the Gryffindors, the Ravenclaws and the Slytherins are all outside. They are demanding you let the Lady Slytherin go.”
“How in the hell did they manage to get here so quickly?” Lord Potter was frustrated. He needed to think. His prisoner was grinning at him insolently, a strange light played in her bewitching eyes, ‘eyes the colour of the Killing curse,’ Lord Potter realized. It unnerved him for some reason. “Come Michael. We have to think something up.”
The forces of the four allies were growing restless. They had besieged Potter Castle for the last few days. The leaders could not agree on a common move against their enemy. Rowena, Andreas and Salazar wanted Lord Potter's head on pike, and all for different reasons. However, it was Godric, the foolhardy Gryffindor, who came up with an excellent suggestion; trade the prisoners and get the damages for the Gaunt family.
The armies had managed to catch the only daughter of Lord Potter this morning. She did not know about the siege. Salazar sent the letter with Godric's suggestion gleefully. They were currently waiting for an answer.
Lord Potter was cursing his lack of insight and information. They were causing him to submit to the pressure of the four families. He was cursing himself for forgetting the approaching visit of Annabel, his only daughter. Lord Potter wrote only one word in reply to the message his daughter was a prisoner of his enemies. Good.
At noon, Lord Potter apparated to Stonehenge . His two eldest sons followed him. Slytherin and his two companions were already waiting. Lord Slytherin entered the circle, Lord Potter following him. The old druidic magics washed over them binding them with magic of that saintly place. The silencing and obscuring dome covered them from the eyes of their companions. The two blocks of power represented by Lord Potter and Lord Slytherin clashed violently in the middle. They nodded stiffly to each other.
“I want my wife back; as well as restitution to Lord Gaunt for killing his heir and to Lady Ravenclaw for the abduction of her niece, the favoured child of Ravenclaw..” Salazar demanded.
“I want my daughter unharmed and your head on platter, Slytherin, for the murder of my son.”
Salazar arched his eyebrow. “Murder? He died in the duel. Only in that manner, was I able to avenge my wife's honour.”
“Really? I heard he only abducted her.” Lord Potter said evenly.
“No. He also tried to force her to marry him, which did not happen thanks to her bond with me. HIS ACTIONS CAUSED LILY TO LOSE MY SON AND HEIR!” Salazar shouted the last part.
“You lie you filthy son of bitch. Your wife would have informed me of it.”
“Am I a liar?” Salazar asked the stubborn male. “Spirits of old, Druid's blood, let that fool see the truth.”
A large screen materialised in front of Lord Potter. He was immobilised and forced to watch as the pictures started playing. Salazar controlled the spell so he did not show the worst of it- Lily's rape and Adam's painful words. Only the duel and Lily's fight for her life and child were on display.
“Are you still calling me liar, Lord Potter?” Salazar asked with loathing.
The old man was broken. He had witnessed the death of his son and the outcome of his horrific actions. He had seen Lady Slytherin's despair and her wish to die; his dead son was cause of that. He could not deny it anymore. It was son's fault. Lord Slytherin had had the right to duel him; death was almost kind to Adam.
