"How can I defeat Naraku? My only advantage is letting Inuyasha and his friends know when Naraku seperates himself...But I don't even know when he's planning on doing it next...he keeps it so random...I wonder if someone else is privvy to this information?" she wondered. "I bet Kanna would know. But I'm also betting she'd cave if Naraku questioned her."
Almost as if she were reading Kagura's mind (and who's to say she couldn't?) Kanna appeared around the corner in front of Kagura. She stood there for a few moments not saying anything. Just staring in the disquieting way that she had.
"What do you want?" snapped Kagura.
"Kagura...? Do you remember when I said I'd grant your greatest wish?" whispered Kanna.
Kagura snorted. "I remember. As I recall, Kaguya didn't really live up to her end of the bargain and neither did you."
Kanna looked up in her younger sister's eyes and Kagura felt almost ashamed at the harshness of her words. Despite being her "older sister" Kanna still came off as a child and had childish mannerisms.
"I didn't forget my promise to you, Sister. I'll help you fulfill it."
"And why would you do that?" asked Kagura "As I recall, you seem to be one of Naraku's favorite lapdogs."
Kanna looked down at her mirror and whispered "He uses me as he uses you. To him, we're just tools." She looked up at Kagura.
"We can't help who we are Sister, but we can change it."
Kagura's lips twitched into a slight smile. "You really think of me as your sister?"
"I do...and sisters look out for one another...the parent isn't always right."
Kagura knelt down and gripped Kanna's shoulders with both her hands.
"Kanna...do you know when Naraku plans on his night of vulnerability?"
"I do."
Kagura looked at her suspiciouly."Why you willing to risk your own life just to help me?"
Kanna looked into Kagura's eyes. "I do it to help myself as well. I want to go with you."
Kagura couldn't believe what she was hearing. Kanna felt the same way as she did? Part of her really wanted to believe that but the more rational part of her whispered for her to be cautious. She looked at her sister.
"I'll take you with me. But Kanna, if this is one of Naraku's tricks and you betray me...I'll kill you."
"I understand."
Kagura knelt for a few moments thinking. "Now how to get the information of Naraku's vulnerability to Inuyasha's friends...?"
Kanna looked down at her.
"I could tell them."
"You? How would you even get out of the castle?"
Kagura could have sworn she saw a slight smile on her elder sister's face. "I am Void. Even Naraku cannot sense that I am gone. I shall act as messenger to Inuyasha and challenge him to come here and destroy Naraku."
Kagura's eyes widened. It was a perfect plan. With one flaw.
"What if Naraku sends for you and you are not here Kanna? What would I tell him?"
Kanna shrugged. "Tell him you cannot find or sense me. You really wouldn't be able to if I didn't want you to. You would not be lying."
She was right.
Damned if she wasn't right! Kagura felt the first of hope begin to rise in her.
"Inuyasha and his friends stay at some village sometimes...we need to find that village before Naraku's night is upon us. How long do we have Kanna?" Kagura asked.
"Fourteen moons."
Kagura quickly did the calculating in her head. Naraku's vulnerable night was not on a night of a new moon. Excellent.
Kagura smiled slowly. "Then we'd better hurry shouldn't we?"
