Author's Note: Well, here it is, my dear friends. Sorry I wasn't able to post it sooner. Once again, thank you so very much for the encouraging and positive feedback you have all given me for this story. It's brilliant having such a response to your very first fanfiction. I hope you enjoy my other stories as much as this. I love you all.
The epilogue takes place 4 years after the last chapter. So Ginny and Luna are now 20 and Draco, Blaise and the Trio are 21.
Epilogue
Draco raised his hand to his face, cupping it above his eyes to shield the sun from his sight. Squinting, he looked up at the sky, the cerulean expanse was cloudless, birds flittering about.
It was perfect.
The sun constantly beating down on him, however, was beginning to make him warm. This new revelation drew Draco's attention to his current attire, and as he looked down upon himself, his eyebrows raised in surprise.
He was wearing a black suit, which within itself, was nothing particularly amazing, although he did look damn fine in it no less. He was Draco Malfoy, after all.
What Draco did find a bit out of the ordinary were the extrinsic dress robes he was clothed in. They were black crushed velvet, with silver decorating the collar, cuffs, and edges of his robes. Draco was not frivolous when it came to spending money on himself, but even he was a bit dumbfounded at the robes. They were brilliant, indeed, had to have cost a good amount of coins.
Draco came to the conclusion that whatever he was standing in wait for, had to be a special event indeed.
For after all, he looked perfect.
Hearing a noise behind him, Draco spun around, to see a mass of people arranged into two separate sections. To the left were...dear Merlin, what appeared to be the entire Weasley family, and fan-bloody-tastic, Scarhead and Granger to boot. To the right, were Draco's mother, Narcissa, his former Potions Master, Severus Snape, and what looked like a good amount of his Slytherin buddies, including Blaise and Luna (though she, of course, was not a Slytherin.)
Draco looked on as many of the gathered spectators broke out into huge smiles, and began to clap merrily. Although it was strange, their applause were muted to Draco. He turned his attention to the center walk-way that divided the two groups of people, and felt what had to be his jaw drop to what he was pretty sure was the ground.
Ginny, his Ginevra, was making her way slowly towards him.
She was dressed in a impressive white gown that was strapless and clenched her like a second skin until it reached her waist, where it then ballooned out impressively into expanses of silk. The top part of the gown had real pearls woven intricately into it. Her hair in an up do, Ginny also had pearls woven into her hair. She looked positively beautiful.
Draco watched as Ginny gave her surrounding family members a bright smile. What she did next, nearly stole all of the breath from his body; she turned to Draco, now only being a few feet away, and gave him the most loving and genuine smile anyone had ever bestowed upon him.
She was perfect.
Draco's eyes snapped open. He slowly sat up and looked around him. Nope, no blinding sun. No pretty blue sky. No population being overrun by every single Weasel ever made.
"It was just a dream." he whispered to himself.
The image of the Ginny from his dream flitted through his brain, and Draco couldn't hold back a small smile. She really is perfect.
The question that had been plaguing Draco's every waking moment for the past 2 months had finally been answered.
Unable to wipe the small smile from his face, Draco laid himself back down, trying to get comfortable once more.
Noticing the insistent green glow coming from around his neck, Draco clasped the Fairy Stone tightly in his hand, blocking the light from view.
"Bloody nuisance is what you are." Draco whispered to the offending stone, before all conscious thought left him, and he fell asleep once more.
I would like to cordially invite you join the staff of the 'Daily Prophet.' I am aware that you are currently studying at the Wizarding University for Higher Learning located in London and you still have approximately a year left until you graduate, but I feel the sooner I grab your attention, the better.
I have seen dozens of articles you have written, Ms. Lovegood, and I would like to commend you on your outstanding investigative, reporting and literary talent. I think you have a certain flare about you, and I think it's just what the 'Daily Prophet' needs in this day and age.
If you accept my offer, it can be considered as an interning position for now, as to not interfere with your current studies. After your graduation, your position will be promoted to that of one of my chief journalists. From there, the possibilities are endless.
I am eagerly awaiting your reply. Thank you for your time, Ms. Lovegood, and good luck in all you do.
Sincerely yours,
Edmund J. Jenkins
CEO and Chief Editor of the Daily Prophet
Ginny looked up from the letter she had just finished reading, and stared into the face of her best friend, Luna Lovegood. Both girls had a look of delighted bewilderment about them.
Giving a high-pitched squeal, Ginny sprung forward and wrapped Luna in a hug, jumping up and down the whole time.
"Luna! This is amazing, I can't believe it!" Ginny sang.
Luna returned the hug, a huge grin breaking out upon her face. "Wow."
"So, are you going to accept it?" Ginny questioned, holding Luna at arms length so she could see the other girl's reaction.
"Well, do you think I should?"
"Are you kidding me? You've only dreamt about this moment since you could write! And to be recruited before we're even out of university...this is bloody fantastic!"
"You're right, Gin! Oh, this is so exciting! I have to floo Daddy and then send an owl to Blaise straight away!" Luna said. She ducked out of the kitchen, heading towards the front room of the flat that the two girls shared.
Ginny leaned on the high bar-like counter that looked in upon the kitchen, placing her face in her hand. She smiled and gave a small giggle. She was so happy for Luna. This was something her friend had wanted forever and for it to finally happen, and in such a surprising way, well it was...
"What are you so happy about?" a voice whispered in her ear.
Ginny shrieked in surprise, and was barely able to turn around. Draco's hands were resting on the counter located at Ginny's sides. He was invading her personal bubble but she didn't mind. Well, she usually didn't, but now, well, she was just trying to get her heart out of her throat.
"What the bloody hell is wrong with you, you sod?" hissed Ginny, holding a hand over her rapidly beating heart. "You scared the hell out of me!"
"Didn't mean to." Draco pouted. He was actually pouting at her! His bottom lip was sticking out and all! That was totally unfair, no-one could withstand the pout of Draco Malfoy.
Ginny snickered at the look on his face. "You look utterly stupid right now."
"Do you know how many females would swoon after witnessing my pout, woman!" cried Draco.
"Yes, but I'm special."
"I concur. But didn't you find my pout just the least bit sexy?" Draco murmured, moving his face closer to hers.
Ginny scrunched her nose at him, cutely. "Are you kidding me?" Her laugh was cut off and Draco's lips descended upon her own. He playfully nipped at her lips before his tongue started to caress her lips, begging for entrance into her mouth. He got what he wanted and soon they were backed into the counter, full out snogging.
Ginny pulled away, taking a few breaths, her cheeks now thoroughly flushed. "Now that was sexy." she remarked, giving Draco a playful grin.
Draco gave her a wink, before pulling out his wand, and conjuring them up a few butterbeers.
"Oh! Brilliant idea, make one more for Luna, we can give a toast in celebration!" Ginny chirped before running out of the kitchen to fetch her flatmate.
Draco gave the empty room a puzzled look before conjuring up a third butterbeer. A few seconds later, the two girls entered the kitchen. Luna looked flush with happiness, and Ginny was whispering to the girl, giving her a one-armed hug.
"So, what's going on, then?" Draco questioned from his place at the counter.
"Luna got a letter from the CEO of the Daily Prophet asking her to come and work for them!" Ginny squealed, giving a clap for good measure.
"Really?" Draco asked, looking at the blonde girl. Luna nodded, blushing to the roots of her hair. "That's bril, love! Nice work!" He wrapped Luna in a hug, congratulating her once more. "Blaise will be thrilled."
"I just sent him an owl." Luna replied.
Ginny skipped over to the counter and grabbed the three butterbeers. "I think a toast is in order." She handed out the drinks, and the three friends stood in the center of the kitchen.
"To Luna!" said Ginny, "May her name forever grace the pages of the Daily Prophet, and may her lucky beet earrings work until the end of her days!"
"To Luna." Draco chuckled.
The three each took a swig from their respective bottles before grinning at each other. Draco cleared his throat, "I'd be honored if the newest journalist from the Daily Prophet would let me take her out to dinner."
"Okay! Sounds like fun." smiled Luna.
"Hey! What about me?" pouted Ginny, folding her arms across her chest.
"Well, I guess you can come, too." Draco replied with a smirk.
Ginny whacked him across the head before dragging Luna from the kitchen so the girls could go get ready for dinner.
This had been the same table Blaise had sat at every night for the past three weeks. He was currently in Greece.
The summer after he graduated Hogwarts, he had traveled to Greece for the first time with Luna and her father. He had never had as much fun as he did that summer break. He fell in love with the country and even incorporated it into his studies at university.
In a few short months, when he was finally done his tenure at the Wizarding University for Higher Learning, he would become a foreign affairs ambassador for the Ministry of Magic. That way, visiting places like Greece, and many other places (he hoped), would be his job.
Although Blaise attended the same university as Luna, Ginny, and Draco, he had been on a type of study-abroad program for the past six months. It was hard being away from Luna so much, but he knew in the end it would be worth it. Even though they sent post back and forth a dozen times a day, and flooed quite a lot, he still couldn't help but be engulfed in a sad sort of funk now that he couldn't be with his girl whenever he desired.
Blaise gave a wistful sigh before taking another sip of his wine. He almost choked on his drink when a dark-haired woman slid into the seat across from him. Giving him a saucy smile, she leaned across the table, "Hi there." she said in a husky sort of voice.
Blaise new a beautiful woman when he saw one, hell he was in love with the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. This woman was striking, but her hair wasn't blonde, and her eyes weren't blue. She wasn't Luna.
Instead of gracing the woman with a reply, Blaise raised an eyebrow at her.
The woman was not to be deterred, however, and tried for conversation once more. "I'm Olivia. You know, I've seen you eating dinner by yourself every night for weeks now, I would think it would quite the easy task for such a good-looking guy to get a dinner date."
Batting her eyelashes at Blaise, Olivia gave a giggle, before leaning even farther across the table and trying to grab his hand.
Blaise snatched his hand away, giving the woman an irritated look. Merlin, she's almost as grabby as the house elves from Hogwarts he thought to himself.
Clearing his throat, Blaise removed the white linen napkin that had been resting across his lap, before standing up to leave. The woman jumped up at once, latching onto his arm, "I know, why don't we go for a walk!" she chirped.
Suddenly finding himself grouchy, Blaise snatched his arm away, "Take a hint, woman! I'm taken, I have a girl at home, thanks, and she'd beat you three ways from Sunday if she saw just how badly you were invading my personal bubble! Go take a cold shower!"
Blaise stalked away, letting an amused smirk grace his features as he heard the woman muttering angrily behind him. Making his way across the lobby, Blaise took the nearest elevator to the eighth floor. Coming to stop in front of a polished wooden door with a number 845 on it, Blaise brandished his wand, and waved it before the door. It swung open and he entered, only to find two owls perched on the window sill.
Blaise slowly made his way across the room, removing his dinner jacket and tie on the way. Recognizing the small brown owl on the right as Luna's, Blaise took the letter that was tied around it's tiny foot and motioned towards a small bowl on a nearby end table that held some owl treats. The owl twittered thankfully, before fluttering over to the bowl and enjoying a snack.
Blaise removed the silver string that was holding the letter shut and quickly unrolled the parchment to read his latest letter from Luna:
Dearest Blaise,
I have some wonderful news! Today I got a letter from Edmund J. Jenkins, the CEO and Chief Editor from the 'Daily Prophet'! He invited me to join the staff of the 'Daily Prophet' and I accepted the offer!
I'm so happy, Blaise! I wish you could be here with me, right now. This is my dream come true and I would love nothing better than to share it with you. I can't wait until you come home, love. I hope you're having a wonderful time in Greece, though I'm certain nothing can top the summer we spent there together. Floo me when you have a spare minute. I miss you.
Love always,
Luna
Although Blaise was thrilled for Luna, he couldn't help the pout that overcame his features. He should be there with her! Greece and his study-abroad program be damned! He was going home. He was going to see his Luna.
Blaise started towards his room, intent on packing, but an irritated 'hoot' stopped him in his tracks. He had forgotten about the second owl. Moving across the room to Julian, Draco's owl, Blaise removed the letter from the bird and began reading it quickly.
Blaise,
You are NOT leaving Greece, you dolt. Do you know what Luna would do to you if you came home and screwed yourself over with your studies?
Blaise winced, picturing Luna pink in the face with fury and her eyes shining in rage. Hmm, maybe suddenly leaving Greece wasn't such a good idea.
Good, mate, think logically. Now, write your love a bit of a sappy, romantic letter, or whatever it is that you scribble to her a dozen time a day, then be done with it. She knows you're happy for her. Besides, the program will be done before you know it.
Blaise nodded, even though he was by himself. Draco was right.
Yes, I know I'm right, thank you.
Blaise raised an eyebrow, was this parchment charmed to read his thoughts or something?
And no, you sod, the parchment is NOT charmed to read your thoughts, I just know you too well. You're highly predictable. Anyway, how are things going in Greece? Hope everything is well.
I just wanted to let you know that I've come to a decision regarding that question I had been mulling over for some time now. It's a positive decision, as I'm sure you concluded that it would be. You better be come for Christmas, mate, it will be a time to remember. We're going to the Burrow.
-Draco
By the time he was finished reading Draco's letter, Blaise was smiling ear to ear. It sounded as if things back home were well. And Christmas at the Burrow? Well, now that was always a time to be had. He couldn't wait.
Sitting down at the oak desk the hotel provided him with, Blaise began writing a reply to Luna's letter. He wanted to reassure her that he would, indeed, be home for Christmas. He would finally see Luna. Only a few more weeks to go.
"...so remember, dear, dinner tomorrow night..." Molly Weasley was saying.
"Yes, mother! I know, dinner is at six, but we are more than welcome to come early."
"Are you being shirty with me, Ginevra?" Molly's green-tinged head was glaring at her only daughter.
Ginny gave her mum an innocent look, "Of course not, mum."
"Good. I just want to make sure you actually make it to Christmas dinner this year, dear." Molly said, looking down her nose at Ginny.
"Mum!" Ginny groaned. "Are you going to hold that over my head forever? I told you, me and Draco fell asleep, last year, we didn't miss dinner on purpose!"
"And exactly what you and Draco were doing, in your room, sleeping together..."
"Merlin save me! Mother! It was perfectly innocent and besides..."
"Is that your mother, Gin?" Ginny turned around to see Draco closing the door behind him. He quickly walked over and knelt beside Ginny on the floor, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before turning to grin at Molly.
"Happy Christmas, Mrs. Weasley!" Draco greeted, giving the older woman a charming smile.
Ginny was almost positive she could see her mother blushing, even through the floo. "Oh, Draco, dear! A very Happy Christmas to you, too, dear! Did you get the cookies I sent?"
"Indeed. Sorry to say they were gone in one night." Draco replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Now there's a good boy! At least someone in the family knows how to eat!" Molly cried, giving Ginny a once-over.
Ginny huffed, crossing her arms, "I eat!" She turned to Draco, "Tell her I eat!"
Draco smirked at her before turning back to Molly, "We'll have to give her second helpings of everything at dinner tomorrow night, that will fatten her up a bit." he said in a stage whisper.
"Enough out of you!" Ginny growled, poking Draco in the side. She turned back to her mum once more. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mum. Tell everyone I said Happy Christmas. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, dear. Night, Draco." with that, Molly Weasley was gone from Ginny's fireplace.
Draco turned, still smiling, from the now-empty fireplace to face Ginny. He was meant by a cool stare.
"What?"
Ginny raised an eyebrow.
"Oh come on, love, it's not my fault your mother loves me!"
Ginny crossed her arms.
"I was only humoring her!"
Ginny huffed, turning away.
"I have a Christmas present for you."
Ginny quickly looked back at Draco, clapping her hands, "Oh! A present, give it here!"
Draco chuckled. "You are such a twelve year old around Christmas."
"I know!" Ginny sang, "Now, let's go. Present." she held out her hand, "Right here."
"Alright, alright." Draco gracefully stood up, and went over to his jacket which was hanging on the coat rack beside the front door. He dug around in his pocket for a minute, before pulling a circular box from it's depths. He walked back over to Ginny, before handing her the small red box. "Here you go, love. Happy Christmas."
Ginny gave a bright smile before lifting the small lid from the box. She gave a gasp before launching herself at Draco. "Oh, Draco! They're beautiful! Thank you so much." After giving Draco a smoldering kiss, Ginny sat, wrapped contently in his arms, while she put on her new diamond earrings.
After she was done fastening them, she turned around in Draco's arms. "Well, how do they look?"
Draco tucked a errant strand of fiery hair behind her ear before answering. "Beautiful. Perfect."
Ginny gave him a sweet smile before wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him. Draco, of course, returned her kiss, and the two spent Christmas Eve snogging in front of the fire.
Mr. Lovegood smiled at her fondly. "Well, a good reporter needs a good set of quills."
Luna smiled brightly, wrapping her father in a tight hug. Mr. Lovegood patted her on the head. "I still have one more gift for you, but let's finish making dinner first."
"Okay." Luna agreed. She followed her father into the kitchen, and proceeded to check the turkey that was in the oven.
Suddenly, a loud knock reverberated throughout the house. Luna looked up, surprised then turned to her father. His eyes sparkling, Mr. Lovegood shooed Luna towards the front room, "Why don't you go answer that, Luna? I can finish in here."
Throwing another puzzled look over her shoulder, Luna made her way to the front door. Shivering at how cool the living room had become, Luna yelled into her father as she pulled the door open, "It's cold in here, daddy. We should light the fireplace." The last word, however, came out as a whisper as she stared at their visitor in shock.
"I can keep you warm." Blaise said with a smile.
"Blaise?" Luna whispered, hardly able to comprehend the sight before her. It had been so long since they had been together. "What are you doing here, I thought you couldn't get back til tomorrow?"
"I couldn't wait that long."
Completely overwhelmed, Luna didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Blaise surprised her though, when he threw himself at her, wrapping her up in a tight hug and swinging her around on the front porch. Finally setting her back on her feet, Blaise leaned his forehead against hers, "Gods I missed you so much. I love you." he whispered, before kissing her softly.
Pulling away, her lips humming Luna smiled up at him. "I love you, too. Happy Christmas."
"Happy Christmas, love."
"Calm down, we still have time." Draco drawled. He was leaning against the far wall, arms crossed, looking as if he didn't have a care in the world. Blaise saw this for what it really was...
"You're anxious about something." he smirked.
Draco looked at him, raising and eyebrow. "Oh?"
Blaise continued to smirk. "You're my best mate, man, I can read you like a book."
"Wow, it's times like these that make me realize how much I missed you in your absence." Draco said dryly, giving the other man a scowl.
Blaise watched him for a moment longer, contemplating what he should say, before he finally settled on his next three words, "Go for it." He gave Draco a wink that ended the conversation just in time, for Ginny and Luna were emerging.
"Okay let's get this over with." Ginny scowled, throwing her long wavy hair over her shoulders.
"Oh please, Gin, you practically live for this day." Luna laughed.
"Christmas, yes. Dinner at the Burrow, no."
"It will be fun!" Blaise threw in, helping Luna to wrap her cloak around her shoulders.
"Mm hmm. I hope you get turned into a canary first." Ginny said sweetly.
Draco walked over, holding Ginny's cloak out for her. "Now now, love, we all know that's Weasel-King's favorite past time."
"Play nice Draco. Mrs. Weasley won't tolerate fisticuffs at her Christmas dinner." Luna said, looking amused.
"Don't I know it." replied Draco.
"Okay, let's go." said Ginny. Everyone murmured their agreement and four loud POPs were heard, as they apparated to the Burrow.
Appearing on the front porch, Ginny and the others didn't even bother knocking as they entered the Weasley household.
Hermione stood in the middle of the room, glaring daggers at Ron. "You give that back Ronald Weasley!" she hissed, looking like she was going to attack any moment.
"Aw, what's wrong, Mione? Don't you want to show everyone what you got for Christmas?" Ron chuckled, holding a scrap of something that appeared to be red and lacy in his hand.
Hermione dove for him, but Ron gave a loud laugh before throwing the item to Harry. Harry caught it and ran behind a nearby armchair - giving himself some sort of protection from the former Head Girl.
Hermione punched Ron hard in the stomach.
"Oof!" Ron cried, doubling over in pain.
Like a wildcat, Hermione spun around, stalking Harry and glaring at him the entire time. "Give that here, Harry."
"Why, Hermione? It's not like you need it right now. I think it's a little inappropriate to be wearing to dinner." he chuckled.
Before Hermione could even get a reply out, Draco chanted "Accio!" and the thing in Harry's hand came flying over to him. Ron, Harry and a very red-faced Hermione, turned to the newcomers.
"Oh, er..Happy Christmas!" Harry greeted. He moved forward, wrapping Luna and then Ginny in a hug, before shaking hands with Blaise and Draco. Ron followed suit, remembering that he promised Hermione he would be extra nice to the Slytherins.
Temporarily forgetting her anger, Hermione hurried over to the group. She gave Luna a quick hug, then turned to Ginny. "Ginny it's so good to see you! Happy Christmas!" she cried, wrapping the younger girl in a tight hug.
"Happy Christmas, Mione. I missed you!"
"What is all the noise in here?" cried Molly Weasley. She was standing in the doorway of the kitchen, brandishing a wooden spoon and a potholder. "Oh! They've arrived! Hello everyone! Happy Christmas!"
Everyone got the customary hug and cheek-pinch from Molly, before she ushered them into the magically enlarged kitchen. As everyone filed into the next room, Draco pulled Hermione aside, shoving the red lacy knickers into her hand, "They're a good color for you." he teased, giving her a wink before he, too, headed into the kitchen.
Already sitting around the table were Bill and his girlfriend Abigail, Charlie and his wife Melissa, Percy, Fred and George.
"Hey, look who it is!" laughed Bill, getting up to give Ginny a hug. "How are ya, Gin-bug? Malfoy treating ya okay?"
"I'm great, and yes, Draco is a prince." she smiled. She walked around the table, bending over to give Charlie and Percy both a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She stopped to chat for a moment with Abigail and Melissa.
Finally, she came upon Fred and George. They rose from their seats comically, giving her a low bow.
"Dear sister! How are you?"
"Quite well, I hope, we haven't seen you for ages!"
"What are you waiting for, woman..."
"Give your favorite brothers a hug!"
Ginny giggled at them, and started to move forward for a hug, but stopped in her tracks. Putting her hands on her hips and giving a stern glare, "Hands!" she ordered.
Fred and George looked at each other grinning, before turning back to Ginny and sticking out their hands. After finding them empty of any joke shop items, Ginny moved in for a hug or two.
The next few minutes were spent merrily as everyone chatted and caught up with each other. Mr. Weasley, who had finally pulled himself away from his brand new plug-organizer, entered the kitchen and joined in on the fun.
"Okay, time to eat." Molly yelled over everyone. Using her wand, she levitated all of the cooked food onto the already set table. After settling in at the end of the table and receiving a kiss on the cheek from her husband, she bade everyone to eat. "Dig in, enjoy it!"
A little while later...
Draco pushed his empty plate away from him, sighing in content. Dinner at the Burrow was always a magnificent and leisurely affair. The food was amazing, the people were loving and Ginny was by his side. It was perfect.
He watched Ginny as she talked animatedly with Ron who was sitting across from her. He wasn't interested in what they were talking about, he was just watching Ginny. The way her face lit up in joy. The way she kept unconsciously brushing her hair out of her face, not realizing how sexy it made her look. Draco felt his lips relax into a smile. She was perfect.
Finishing her conversation with her brother, Ginny turned towards Draco, to find him watching her. "What? Is there something on my face?" she asked.
"No."
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ginny laughed.
Draco shrugged his shoulders. He pulled Ginny into his side and planted a kiss on the top of her head. Before he could say anything else, though, the twins jumped up, gaining everyone's attention.
"If you'll please follow us.." announced George.
"We have a bit of a Christmas surprise." finished Fred.
"Oh, and bring your cloaks, we need to go into the backyard." They said simultaneously.
Everyone got up from the table and went to fetch their cloaks.
"What's going on?" asked Luna, with a curious look on her face.
"I'm not sure, but they're up to something." Ginny said suspiciously.
Everyone filtered out into the backyard. Ginny was standing in front of Draco, leaning her back into his chest. He had his hands resting on her hips as his chin atop her head. Luna and Blaise were standing beside them, hand in hand.
"Alright folks, here we go! George, if you please." Fred made a sweeping motion to his twin.
George gave a jolly nod before swinging his wand about dramatically. Everyone jumped, and some of the girls gave a frightened shriek as the dark winter sky above them exploded into a dozen different colors.
"Oh fireworks!" breathed Luna, staring up into the sky.
Fred and George took turns waving their wands about and setting off different fireworks they had invented. That night, the sky above the Burrow was decorated with everything ranging from a silver ferret (that was dedicated to Draco) to a copy of Hogwarts: A History (that for Ron..just kidding, it was for Hermione.)
"And for the finale..." crowed Fred.
"This one is dedicated to Ginny, personalized by Malfoy - everyone's favorite ferret!" George pointed at the pair. The twins waved their wands in an arc above their heads and everyone stared, enraptured, as ruby-colored words began to appear in the sky...
Ginevra Weasley, will you marry me?
Ginny read the words over and over again. She could feel her heart beating in her throat, she had never been so surprised in her entire life.
Everyone was looking at her. Luna and Blaise were smiling, her mother was crying happily and the twins were grinning like idiots.
"Well?" Draco whispered into her ear.
Ginny slowly turned to face him. He was looking at her anxiously, hope and worry glimmering in his silver eyes. Ginny opened her mouth but it seemed to be refusing to work. Taking a deep breath, Ginny stared into Draco's eyes, warm cognac meeting molten silver. One word escaped her lips.
"Yes."
It took Draco a second to process her answer. Once he did, he gave a whoop of delight and pulled Ginny close, kissing her like never before. All around them, their friends and family were cheering and clapping. Even Ron let loose a smile as he watched the two.
Ginny laughed as Draco broke the kiss, breathing heavily, "Oh, here, I'm a prat." He dug around in his pocket, before pulling out a small, black velvet box with gold lining. He opened it up, took the diamond ring from within and slid the cool gold band onto Ginny's slender finger.
Ginny's cheeks hurt from smiling so much. She had never been this happy her entire life. She stared at the ring for a moment, letting her brain process that yes, this really was happening. Finally able to tear her eyes from her engagement ring, Ginny looked up into the face of Draco. "It's perfect," she whispered.
"And so are you." Draco replied, before pulling her in for another kiss.
The End
