Author's note: I know that I said that I didn't feel any special need to dedicate this to anyone. well, guess what I changed my mind, you're allowed to do that you know. Guess who's birthday it is today, Rupert Grint's, yay! So there you go, as a birthday present I'll give him this story. Not a brilliant gift for a handsome bloke like him, I know, but it's what I've got

Now I'll just get to the point right away. I do realize that this fan fiction is quite weird and that some of the parts aren't exactly correct. But hey, no one is perfect. I was just having some fun, writing. This turned out to be the result of it all. Nothing special, just a crappy fic which I hope you'll enjoy either way. If you have complaints, comments or just simply felt that it was awesome (which I highly doubt by the way) please feel free to write a review. Thank you for your time.

This is hers, she is yours

'Do you really have to do this?' Ron asked for about the hundredth time, that day. Hermione looked up at him, moving away from Harry, whom she had just stopped hugging. She smiled weakly as she shook her head.

'I don't have to Ron, I need to,' she said as she stepped closer to him, 'I need to do this for me,' she said as she gestured towards her heart. Ron swallowed hard and nodded slowly. This wasn't how it was suppose to be, this wasn't how it was suppose to end. I wasn't supposed to end with her moving away to a whole other country. It just wasn't. Ron could feel his eyes water and his throat starting to hurt. He could feel Harry's eyes upon him.

'But I don't want you to go,' mumbled Ron and looked up at Hermione, shaking his head, 'I don't.'

Hermione stepped closer and pulled him into a tight hug. He hugged her back, feeling that when she let go his world would fall apart. The world he knew would fall apart the second she let go to walk up to the gate, to get on that stupid muggle 'hairplane' and disappear, disappear out of his life. 'Cause that was what she was about to do, disappear out of his life.

'Take care of yourself, all right,' said Hermione as she let go of him. 'Both of you,' she added and smiled at Harry.

'I'm gonna miss you,' she mumbled as she pulled Ron into a second hug. But let go a bit too quickly for Ron to hug her back. She smiled at both her best friends as she took her things and headed towards the gate.

Ron watched his bushy haired best friend walk away. He watched her as she showed her ticket to the security man and he watched her as the man handed her back her ticket telling her to continue. He couldn't let her leave. He had to do something. He had to…

Flashback

'Ron! Ron! I got the job! I got the job!' shrieked Hermione and flung her arms around Ron's neck,

'I got the job!' Ron's face fell. She got it. He had been hoping and praying that she wouldn't get it. A job at the ministry of magic in London was just as great as one at the ministry of magic in New York, wasn't it? Why did she have to work in America when she could get any job she wanted in England? Why leave him when she had the option to stay?

But none of his opinions mattered for now. Ron had never seen Hermione this happy or excited about something before. He wouldn't want to ruin this for her. Ruin her happiness by saying the three words that might get her to stay.

'Well, that's great huh,' he said in a succeeded attempt to sound happy for her. Hermione let go of him and looked down at the floor then back up at Ron.

'Ron, you don't really mean that, do you?' said Hermione, smiling weakly at Ron who let out a sigh before he shook his head.

'No,' he said, shaking his head once more, not believing how easily she could see through him, 'no I don't. I want you to stay.' Hermione pulled him into a hug, which surprised Ron, who thought that she wouldn't want to speak to him if he begged her not to go.

'This is such a great opportunity for me Ron, I would be a fool not to take it,' she mumbled into his chest. Ron nodded slowly.

'I know,' he said, and swallowed, 'but I still don't want you to go.'

'Ron, I'm gonna miss you so incredibly much, you know that, don't you?' said Hermione as she slowly let go of him.

'Then why are you going?' he asked desperately.

'Because I've always wanted to,' answered Hermione truthfully, looking up at him. Ron nodded, looking down at his feet.

'So when are you leaving,' he asked as he let his gaze slowly walk up for her face.

'In two days,' said Hermione, smiling weakly.

End of flashback

'I LOVE YOU!' shouted Ron at the top of his lungs, everyone in the hall turned to look at him. But Ron's attention was all focused upon Hermione. He watched as she stopped, he watched as she slowly turned around. He watched her as she looked at him, he watched her as her eyes filled with tears. He watched her as she mouthed; 'I love you too,' and he watched her as she turned around and walked through the doors, that separated her new and her old life.

As Ron watched the doors slowly shut behind her he felt a hand on his right shoulder. Turning to his right he saw Harry standing there, trying his best to smile at Ron.

'This is her dream you know,' he said quietly. Ron looked doubtingly at his friend.

'All the late nights, all the studying, what you think it was for?' asked Harry, but instead of letting Ron answer he continued. 'This,' he said, pointing after her, 'this is her dream, just like she's yours.' Ron didn't say anything; his gaze was yet again upon the shut doors.

'She has the chance to experience hers, if you're willing to let her do that, even if it means giving up yours,' Harry stopped for a second and looked at his red haired best friend, 'then it shows that you truly love her.'

Ron let out a shaky breath but didn't say anything. His gaze still upon the closed doors, tears were slowly making their way down his cheeks.

'You want her to be happy don't you?' he heard Harry ask him and Ron nodded, 'then you have to let her go.

Flashback

'She's really leaving, huh?' said Ginny as her youngest older brother sank down in the couch next to her.

'Yeah,' said Ron and let out a sigh, 'now she'll always be out of my reach.' Ginny shook her head.

'She hasn't always been you know,' she said, placing her head on her brother's shoulder. 'She was crazy about you; you just never really got it.'

'She was, she isn't anymore,' said Ron sighing, 'is that what you're saying?'

'I don't know,' said Ginny truthfully. Ron placed an arm around her shoulders.

'I guess it's just you, me and Potty left, huh?' he said smiling teasingly at his sister. Ginny let out a small laugh.

'I guess so,' she answered, looking up at her brother, smiling weakly back at him. 'Unless you do something about it,' she added and placed her head back on his shoulder once more.

End of flashback

Ron looked back at Harry, wiping his tears away. He knew just what to do. There was no way that he was going to let Hermione disappear like sand through his fingers. He wasn't going to let her do it that easily.

'I'm ready to let her experience her dream,' he said slowly and took a second look back at the doors. 'But I'm not ready to give up mine,' he added and looked around.

'What are you talking about?' asked Harry as Ron started to walk fast towards an old lady behind a desk.

'We can both have our dreams, we can both live our dreams' said Ron quickly as he reached the desk, 'I know that she loves me, I know she does.' Then he turned to the chubby little woman that was sitting behind the counter.

'A one-way ticked to New York please,' he said quickly and turned to a gaping Harry. 'If working in New York is what she wants, I don't have an option, I'll follow her. I'll go wherever she goes. Cause it doesn't matter where I am, as long as I'm with her,' finished Ron.

'When do you want to leave, sir?' asked the old lady.

'As soon as possible,' said Ron quickly and turned to Harry, he let out a sigh and mumbled, 'I have to do this, you know.'

'I know you do,' said Harry and smiled as Ron handed the lady some muggle money, mumbling; 'keep the change' and turning back to Harry.

'Ron, you're going to need a passport if you're going to go to New York,' he said and smiled teasingly towards his best friend.

'I know,' answered Ron sounding a bit insulted, looking around to see that no one was listening, then he smiled just as teasingly back at Harry and whispered; 'I'm not a wizard for nothing am I?' With that he pulled out his wand and a piece of paper, and with a flick with his wand he was holding a nice, half used, muggle passport.

Ron and smiled towards the lady as she handed him his ticket and with a second flick with his wand while mumbling 'obliviate,' the chubby, old woman had no recollection about what he had just done. Ron smiled and mumbled; 'I ain't an auror for nothing,' to himself. With the ticket clutched in his hand he turned back to Harry, who was looking terrified.

'Mate, what's wrong?' asked Ron as he made his way to the doors that Hermione had disappeared through.

'Ginny's gonna kill me,' said Harry sounding surprisingly serious. 'When she finds out that I let both you and Hermione go to New York, on the same day. She's gonna kill me.'

'Hey, will you shut up,' said Ron and looked at the board with all the flights, trying to find his. 'My sister is not gonna kill you, she's a tiny little woman. Okay, I must agree that sometimes, or most of the time, she's freakishly strong. But come on, right now she's like twice the size as usual so she doesn't have her usual strength, plus if she killed you her kid wouldn't have a dad and she loves you too much to bury you just yet. Now will you help me find my good-damn flight?'

Harry smiled at his freaked out, best friend in his attempt to find out when his flight was going to leave and from where. He had to bite his lip to stop himself from laughing, because Ron's attempt wasn't succeeding that well.

'Oh, give me that,' said Harry and took Ron's ticket away from him. Harry cast a glance at the ticket and his eyes almost shot out of his head. Then he glanced at the board and then back at the ticket again. It couldn't be true, could it?

'Ron, it says here that your flight leaves in somewhat like fifteen minutes,' said Harry weakly. Ron nodded in agreement.

'Yeah, it leaves in fifteen minutes. So what?' he said casually.

'Well, in that case,' Harry stopped for a second and checked the board one more time. 'In that case you have to hurry up, because that's the same plane as Hermione's taking.'

Ron stared at his best friend, frankly not believing a single one of the words that was coming out of his best mate's mouth. Then suddenly he let a smile escape from his lip, and then he started laughing.

'For a minute there I really believed you,' Ron managed to say between his laughing fits. 'Good one Harry, same flight as Hermione, nice try.'

'Ron I'm not kidding. I'm serious, it's the same flight as Hermione's, I swear,' said Harry, waving the ticket in front of Ron's eyes. Ron grabbed the ticket and locked at it to the board and back again.

'This can't be right,' he said in a frenetically voice that seconds later turned into somewhat like a despair one, 'fifteen minutes, I'll never make it.'

'That's right Ron, if you don't hurry up you'll miss it. That plane isn't gonna wait forever!' shouted Harry at Ron who was just standing a few feet away from him. Then his voice turned into barely more than a whisper, 'you'll make it, I know you will. Everything will awesome, cause you're doing it for her, right?' Ron nodded and let out a steady breath.

'Yeah, I will,' he mumbled, more to himself than to Harry. Then he looked up at his best friend. 'Take care of my sister, will you?' Harry grinned and nodded.

'You bet,' he said and smiled, 'look after Hermione, I wouldn't want her to get hurt.' Ron smiled with all his face.

'Neither would I,' he answered and sighed. He looked up at Harry who stood with his hands as deep down in his back pockets as possible. 'So, a "cool guy" hand-shake or an awkward hug?' he asked casually. Harry shrugged and put out his hand, Ron looked at it for about half a second, then he pulled his best mate in to a friendly hug. Harry hit Ron friendly in the back before Ron let go. Harry smiled as Ron started to walk towards the security man by the door.

'Don't let her go Ron, don't,' he said after him. Ron turned around and smiled at Harry.

'If I did, I would be a bigger idiot than Malfoy,' he replied and handed his ticket to the man by the door. When he was allowed to walk through there was no looking back, he ran through as fast as he could, he was determent to find Hermione and get on the plane in time. What other option did he have?

He checked the huge clock on the wall. He had ten minutes to go, ten minutes to find his way to the gate, ten minutes to find his way to Hermione. 'These stupid muggles, they just have to make everything so good damn difficult,' thought Ron as he almost knocked an old man over as he ran towards the next sign that hopefully would lead him to the 'hairplane' and to Hermione.

A few other people just happened to be in Ron's way when he did his best do read, run and find Hermione at the same time. He knew that she would already be on the plane or at least by the gate. She was never late and obviously there was no way that she would be late when it came to flying to New York where her dream job waited for her, no way.

'Gate 36, gate 36, where is it?' mumbled Ron to himself as he slowed down to look around himself. 'Gate 25-27,' he mumbled as he read the nearest sign, 'gate 28-32.' He continued to walk, or rather jog as he read the signs. 'Gate 33-35,' he read, 'there's got to be here somewhere. Then he saw it, the "golden sign", 'gate 36,' and then he saw her. Through the nicely polished glass-doors he could see her, standing in the line, waiting to get on the plane. He ran towards the gate, he ran inside, checked his watch, three minutes left. When he got to the line Hermione had already got onboard. He got in the line and as soon as he had got past the security man, or rather security lady, he ran on the plane. Unluckily there was no time for him to try and find Hermione. When he with just share dumb luck had managed to find his seat, next to an old skinny dark man, the pilot told them to put on there seat belts and simply just watch the air-hostesses as they demonstrated the security measures.

When they were finally in the air and the seatbelt sign had gone out Ron got up from his seat and began his searching for Hermione. He hadn't seen her on the way to his seat so he decided to check the plane from his seat and back. He searched every seat till the back of the plane with no luck. He let out a sigh in defeat and made his way back to his seat. When he was about to sit down he figured that just in case he should ask one of the air-hostesses if she had seen her.

As Ron made his way to the nearest cabin attendant he tripped, but luckily he caught hold of a seat to his right. The passenger that was sitting in the seat he had grabbed hold of looked up at him. Both passengers stared at each other. Then Ron let out a sigh in relief, he had found her. Hermione on the other hand just stared at him.

Flashback

'I can't believe that you're leaving,' muttered Harry as Hermione parked herself in the empty seated living room couch. Harry looked a bit grumpy as he sat down in the armchair that was planted to the right of the sofa. 'I seriously can't see why you're doing this, seriously I can't.' Hermione sighed.

'You know that this is what I've always dreamed of Harry,' she said as she leaned back, sighing. 'I think this is for the best, for all of us.' Harry seemed to completely forget about him being grumpy over Hermione's sudden departure. His head spun around faster than you could say Quidditch and he stared at his friend.

'Are you insane?' he shouted, his eyes seemed to be in that state where you think that if you gave it a nanosecond they would shoot of his head. 'For the best? Clearly you've lost you marbles!'

'There's no need for you to act as though the ministry's decided to banish Quidditch,' said Hermione in defence.

'No need for me to what?' said Harry, clearly still a bit pissed and upset, 'you're not the one that'll have to take care of our darling friend after you'll have left, are you?' Hermione stared at him.

'What in the name of Merlin are you talking about?' she asked in such shocked tone that Harry without doubt knew that he had let something slip.

'Nothing,' he said quickly, 'but do you seriously not see any reason for you to stay?' Hermione shook her head.

'Except for you and Ginny I haven't got anything,' she mumbled sadly. Harry looked at her, a bit calmly now.

'You have Ron,' he said quietly, 'you do have Ron.' Hermione sighed deeply. Did she really have Ron? Merlin knew that he was the one thing that made her consider staying in London, in England.

End of flashback

'What… what are you doing here?' she managed to stutter. Ron bent down on his knees and smiled weakly.

'I couldn't let you go, not alone. I love you,' he said as he grabbed hold of her hand, 'and I know that you love me.' Hermione didn't say anything, nor did she or Ron notice that probably every passenger on the plane was looking at them.

'I know that this is your dream and that this is what you've always wanted. I would never ask you to give it up, never,' said Ron and sighed slowly. 'But I can't stand the thought of not seeing you everyday, as much as you need to do this I need to follow my heart and do my best to make my dream come true.' Hermione opened her mouth but no words came out, then she cleared her throat.

'And what is your dream?' she asked in barely more than a whisper. Ron grinned at her when he answered.

'I thought that you, as the cleverest... witch... eh... girl…of her age, would have figured that out by now,' he whispered, 'it's you, spending my life with you, marrying you, having kids with you and just simply spending every living moment of my life by your side.' Tears were forming in Hermione's eyes by now, but clearly Ron wasn't finished.

'As long as I'm with you I'm happy. It doesn't matter where you are, it doesn't matter if you're in England or in America, and it doesn't matter if you work at the ministry in London or in New York. I'll be wherever you decide to be and I'll move to New York with you if that's where you want to work.' At this Ron stopped, only to study Hermione for a second. Tears had slowly started to make their way down her cheeks but still she was smiling, a good sign. Ron took a deep breath, getting ready to start talking again. But this time Hermione beat him to it.

'Ronald Weasley, out of all the things you've done this is by far the most stupid thing you've ever done,' Hermione stopped for a millisecond and looked at Ron who looked almost terrified, 'but also the most romantic one,' she finished. At this Ron let out a sigh in relief and felt himself relax, quite a lot. He smiled a lopsided grin and opened his mouth in a failed attempt to speak. It went from open mouth to stupid grin to open mouth to stupid smile. Then he did the only thing that seemed to make sense to him. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers. Kissing her was the only thing that he could think of doing, the only thing in which he didn't have to say anything. Hermione kissed him back, and when they broke apart Ron rested his forehead against hers and mumbled; 'So, you'll have me?' Hermione smiled and nodded.

'My dream doesn't just withhold a dream job, you know,' she said teasingly and kissed him once more. 'The dream I've had would never have been fulfilled if you hadn't showed up here; a dream without you in it is a nightmare.' Ron smiled stupidly and gave Hermione yet another kiss.

Surely there was a dream ending to this after all.
