Also, the challenge was written by Severitus and she was kind enough to let people write stories off of this challenge and I do not make any money off of the use of this challenge.

Notes
: Well, I'm sorry to say to everyone, this is actually the last chapter. I've been planning this ending since the beginning of the fic, I didn't expect it now, but the story kind of moved at it's own pace. I have had the sequel to come through my mind, but I will say this now, it will take time before it is posted, for I want to have some chapters for everyone first. Sorry about the ending, probably not what was expected, but I rather find these ideas interesting.

Chapter 18

Daemon was throwing things into his trunk, glaring. He didn't like what Dumbledore had done. The man was attempting to manipulate him. Daemon was muttering as her threw things into his trunk. He did not pay attention to anybody coming into the room. He was focused on haphazardly cramming his trunk to the point that he didn't see Draco come up behind him. He bent over his trunk and shoved all the stuff that hung out into the interior of the trunk.

Draco stood there, his wand in his hand and his teeth barred and clenched. He pointed the wand at Daemon's bent back. Daemon didn't even react; he kept packing stuffing his trunk full. A shimmer caught Draco's eyes and he turned to see Daemon stuffing an invisibility cloak into the trunk. His jaw dropped. He wondered where he got that one. Daemon turned around. "It's not polite to point a wand at someone's back. I thought you would have learned against that when you were turned into a Ferret." Draco was still stunned at the thought of a rare item that even he didn't have. Daemon scowled and punched Draco in the face. The young Malfoy was stunned. This was the second time that he had been hit by Daemon, and he didn't like it.

"What do you think you're doing?" Daemon turned around and closed his trunk. He didn't answer Draco right away. He kept his back turned towards the young Malfoy. Draco went to point his wand at Daemon again, but it flew out of his hands.

He looked in the direction his wand went and saw Lucius standing there with it clenched into his hand. "Now Draco, you know you're not supposed to point a wand at someone's back." One of Draco's hands was covering his nose. Daemon had his trunk closed and looked at Lucius. He narrowed his eyes at the older Malfoy, not really in the mood to deal with him. He pulled out his wand to shrink his trunk. It was something he had only recently learned, and after having been tied to a chair by Dumbledore, he wanted out.

He shrunk his trunk. Daemon ignored as Lucius came up behind him. He didn't know that the man was there, nor did he even know that Lucius and Severus had plans on how to deal with the situation. He turned around and saw Lucius. "Don't you know that people need space?" He turned to walk off, but Lucius grabbed his arm. Daemon glared at him. He was not happy about it.

"You're coming with me. Draco, pack. We're leaving, and you're coming with." He then dragged Daemon out of the room. The young man was scowling with Draco watching rather stunned. Daemon had to walk as quickly as he possibly could to keep up with Lucius. His arm hurt a bit from the angle that Lucius was holding it as. "You will listen to me Daemon. We're facing a situation and you will be coming with Severus and I for your safety. Now do not argue with me, for it will not do you any good to do so." He continued to drag Daemon until they reached Severus' room. Of course, his son didn't want much to do with either of them and continued to struggle against him. His miniature trunk was hitting him in the leg from the movement of his robes and all he could think about right now was somehow escaping the clutches of a man who seemed to think that Daemon should be grateful for his very existence.

They got into the rooms and Daemon managed to shove Lucius off of him. Lucius had to take several steps back at the shove, but he did let go of Daemon's arm, which was the result that he wanted. Daemon went to walk to the door, but it slammed shut on him, a clicking noise told him that it was locked. He turned towards Lucius to find him still standing there, no wand in hand. He turned to find out who closed the door, for he seriously doubted that Lucius Malfoy was capable of using wandless magic.

Standing in a doorway was Severus. He had been keeping to himself for the most part, letting Daemon be alone. Of course there was the fact that Daemon didn't want to have anything to really do with them. He had only learned the truth a while ago and that was the worst day of his life. He tugged on the doorknob to just make sure that there was no way of opening it. He wasn't going to give in. He knew at times that he could get a little bit more power behind something. "You will be coming with us, both you and Draco. None of you are safe here, and Lucius knows that Draco needs away from his mother before things get worse and more happens to you. She does not like you Daemon, and with Dumbledore pulling stunts, it's not safe. We're taking you to the one place that nobody would find you, despite the fact that there are times we don't want to take you there." Daemon rose an eyebrow at Severus' words.

'Well, that's certainly interesting. I was thinking about leaving and intended to and they want me to leave with them. Wonder where they are going to take me that would be somewhere nobody would expect. It's probably Voldemort.' He snickered to himself and looked Severus in the eyes. The two stared at each other in silence when a knock resounded on the door.

Lucius unlocked the door and let Draco in. The young Malfoy was being as hoity as ever, but that was of little consequence to Daemon. He was more interested in the fact that he assumed they were taking him to the one person that had wanted him dead for years. Of course, that was when he was Harry Potter. 'Wonder if the prophecy still applies when I'm not the person that everyone thought. Hell, I wasn't really even born on the end of July. Hm…This should be interesting.' Despite that Daemon did not like them; it was a way to get out of the castle and away from them. There was always the fact that he could run from the Dark Lord later, Daemon was good at running if he had to.

"Fine, let's get this over with then." Daemon straightened himself and looked over at Draco. The blonde was scowling; his nose looked a little funny. Daemon chuckled under his breath. He knew that it had been a very hasty healing job at the slight crook to the nose. He was glad that he broke it.

Severus looked startled at Daemon's acceptance of going with them. They thought they would have to stun him to take him. They could tell that he had changed from who he had been as Harry Potter, but this change was interesting. Severus nodded to Lucius and pulled out a port key. "We arranged for this to take us where we need to go. It's untraceable, though I doubt that will stop the old man. Just get your hands on it and we'll be off." Daemon watched the pendant warily. He still didn't trust port keys after the incident in his fourth year, but this time he knew exactly where it was taking him.

He touched the item. The others had been waiting for him as he was slow about touching the object. He took in the ancient appearance of the pendant. It wasn't anything fancy, just a blue stone on a gold chain, but there was a strange swirl in the stone that was what drew Daemon's attention. He wondered what it was for, but before he could ask, the tugging at his navel started and pulled him into the swirls of colour that was a key signature of a port key. Daemon didn't know what it was, but he passed out in the process of travelling and didn't see them arrive.

Voldemort's Lair

Daemon had indeed been right; he was taken straight to Voldemort. However, that wasn't exactly where he was. Instead of being insight of the most feared man in years, he was lying in a large four poster bed, waiting to wake up. He had passed out for some reason while taking the port key, and that worried his parents. They had never met anybody that had passed out before, and their child was the first. Daemon lay in the bed, completely oblivious to the world around him. He was awake in a sense, but his eyes didn't want to open, instead he felt groggy with a strange taste in his mouth that was slightly metallic. He had felt that one before, but only when he sucked on any blood to stop the flow. He could hear some noise coming from around him, but not see a single thing.

He lay in the bed, listening to the voices around him. He recognized one immediately and felt his body tense in a way he wasn't sure that it ever had. It was a deep, hissing tone that only belonged to the Dark Lord himself. "I'm glad you brought him here. I am shocked; he's supposed to be Harry Potter? Well, that is the last thing I would have expected Lucius. I could destroy him right here if you wanted. Yet I think I won't, there seems to have been some interesting changes in the boy. He is supposed to be the prophesied child, and yet he's not even born in the time that was stated. Hm…I wonder if this makes that…Thing invalid. I clearly chose the wrong boy."

Daemon was a little stunned when he heard that statement. He never thought that Voldemort would say he chose the wrong thing. He kind of wondered if the man knew he was awake. It wouldn't be that surprising if he did. He lay there, waiting for someone to speak again. He didn't know if Voldemort would or if Lucius would. "It was the safest choice we could make my lord. The headmaster wanted to keep Daemon tied to a chair. You know I would have brought him to you earlier if I could have. I just feared what you might do if we brought him early and before he knew that Severus and I are his parents." Lucius' voice was steady, but it was the closest to Harry's ear. That told him that the dip at the edge of his bed was Lucius.

He didn't let it be known that he was at least partially awake. His eyes still didn't want to open, but Daemon was fine with that. He seemed to know that more would be said if they thought he was still out than if he was awake. "Well, I'm certain that you will have some more time Lucius. I think I found the loophole in that prophecy to have made it null and void. I could use him. Do you really think he will be of some use to me? He has been used by Dumbledore." That made Daemon want to respond. He didn't like the statement that he was used. Sure he knew that he was, but it annoyed him that someone had to point it out.

Lucius sighed. "Well, I think that we should check on him. It is his decision after all. He can't make one if he's not awake." The bed shifted a bit. Daemon did not like that and was fighting with what his mind said was happening. He knew that there was someone to notice that he was not longer out.

"He's been awake for a little bit." That caused Daemon to stall. He had been right; Voldemort did know that he was awake. That was not the bed thing, but he kept his mouth shut and tried to force his eyes open. It was difficult. His eyes did not want to open; they acted as if they were sewn shut. He had to put a lot of will into opening his eyes. He groaned a bit. "Welcome to the real world Mr. Snape." Daemon scowled at the name. He did not like being called by that name. He wondered why it was Snape anyways, why not Malfoy? He kept the idea to himself, as there was the fact that Draco was already a Malfoy.

He had to clear his throat a couple times in order to use his voice, as the scratchiness of this throat hurt. "My name is Daemon." The sound came out as mostly a croak, but he managed to say what he wanted to. He looked at Voldemort, expecting him to say something against him. Instead the man laughed a hiss to his voice. Daemon just watched him.

"Daemon it is then…Though you will have to accept the name of Snape some time soon. You see, if you do not, you shall never sever the ties that make you Harry Potter, despite your name. You must renounce the name that you were given by those of the light." For some reason the thought of still being Harry Potter filled Daemon with anger. He didn't want to be the boy-who-lived, he wasn't even supposed to be the saviour of the wizarding world, and it was basically a manipulated situation that made him so.

He felt compelled to do so. However, he did wonder if renouncing his name meant he had to become a Snape. He didn't want to be either a Malfoy or a Snape. He looked at Voldemort. "What…I…"

For some reason the Dark Lord seemed to understand. "You don't have to take the name, you can remain without a last name, but without the renouncing of Potter, I fear that we shall be ruled by a prophecy." That did it, that caused Harry to want to say it just right. He hated the prophecy the moment he had heard the words from Dumbledore's pensive. His entire life had been dictated by something so stupid and by a person that only had random moments of sight.

He let out a slow breath, his throat still a bit scratchy. He had to take several breaths before he could even get what he wanted to say out. "Fine…I am not a Potter, I renounce the name. I am not Harry Potter…I'm Daemon." The breath of the others let out at the words. He knew who he was, he may not have been a Malfoy or a Snape just yet, but he was Daemon, he had been since he chose the name to go by at the beginning of the school year. A weight lifted off of Daemon, one he didn't know, and one he was never going to miss.

A/N: Well, after nearly five years, the story is complete. It will take a bit of time since I have to gather around five year old notes for the sequel, but it will eventually be posted and the title for that will be called Dark Blood. Hope everyone enjoyed reading this and keep a look out for the sequel.
