Big Boys Don’t Cry
When he was one
And cracked his rib on a ‘table’
He didn’t utter a sound.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was two
And burnt his arm when he ‘bumped’ into the fireplace
He was silent.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was three
And ‘accidentally’ fell down the stairs
He didn’t even sob.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was four
And ‘ran into a door’
He just sat there quietly.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was five
And was found half-alive by his house elf
He remained silent.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was six
And got bruised after being pelted with kicks
He just ran to his room.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was seven
And he walked in on his father ‘disciplining’ his mother
He just hushed her tears.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was eight
And had ‘tripped’ into a gate
He never once let a tear trickle down his pale face.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was nine
And found out his mother had been pregnant but lost the baby after his father had beaten her
He didn’t mourn for his dead brother or sister.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was ten
And had his leg broken just because he had played with a muggle-born
He merely scowled at the floor.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
When he was eleven
And got accepted into Hogwarts (even though his mother wanted him to go to Durmstang as he would be further away from his father)
He nearly cried, not out of sorrow but because he was so happy, but he didn’t.
Why?
Because big boys don’t cry.
Now all those years have passed, and he’s twenty-two
He’s being tortured to death by Lord Voldermort for being a spy for the light side,
And the last thing he hears before he takes his last breath is his father whispering in his ear,
“Now now Draco, Remember, Big boys don’t cry.”
