Just Like That

Luzzu didn't really understand why people called it 'falling' in love. Luzzu never fell into anything. His steps were always steady, he never stumbled, never faltered. He didn't get it, not really, and he had never considered himself simple, no, a little quiet, because that was what people told him, but he wasn't silly. He should be able to understand it, but he didn't.

Luzzu believed a more appropiate term would be 'walked.' And not almost-jogging walking, or just-about-to-break-into-a-run walking, or 'brisk' walking, no, it was like strolling. He didn't wake up and realize one morning he was 'in love,' it didn't just happen, it was natural, like breathing, or seeing, or blinking or...well, walking. Falling wasn't natural to him. You don't fall every day, but if you're in love, it usually lasts a while. He hoped so, anyway.

Since he didn't 'fall' in love, he supposed he 'walked into it,' a little while after he met Gatta. It most certainly wasn't 'at first sight,' because Yevon, that had to be the most unrealistic thing in the world, and it wasn't two weeks after, because he was too busy keeping the fool boy out of trouble to feel anything but annoyance for him, and it wasn't even a month later, when they spent most of their time together, and Gatta told him stories about his parents, about his home, and he exchanged stories about Chappu(Yevon rest his soul), and Lulu, and even Wakka. ("I saw Lady Yuna when she was -this- tall," he told the boy, holding his hand up to about his knee, and Gatta had gawked in baffled amazement. "Really?!")

It wasn't until one day, when he realized he was laughing at one of Gatta's extremely unamusing jokes(oh, he hated his jokes), that he was in love, and it wasn't like a blow in the chest, or falling and slamming his head against the floor('falling?' It still sounded painful), it was like wandering around Luca Square, looking for a bench to sit at, and finally finding one. It was nice, and comfortable, and just...there. It wasn't exciting, there weren't fireworks or doves flying through the sky, or anything beautiful and symbolic, it was just Gatta leaning against his side to fall asleep, and feeling warmer than he ever had, or laughing at something that wasn't really funny, just to make Gatta happy, or just...breathing, or seeing, or blinking or well...walking. Just like that.

A/N: This was supposed to be sad. I'm in a good mood though, so I suppose this story reflected it. I'd like to say I really don't usually write shounen-ai(or read it, for that matter). I hope this isn't bad, but...well, I also hope I can one day become a multi-millionaire, so I suppose it's pointless to say that. Since this is my first time writing something like this though, I'd appreciate some feedback, even flames. )
