Rated PG-13 for yaoi
Disclaimer- I own the first season on DVD, some cards, a Galeon blade, a few doujinshi... But no, Beyblade isn't mine.
Author's note- First off, this has nothing to do with any other Beyblade fic I've written. It's a whole new couple (for me at least). In fact, only one of the two minor couples in this fic I've written so far. Some minor OOC, but please note that this takes place after G Rev and yes, I've tweaked the ending of the anime yet again. Oh well. The beginning is a bit odd, but keep reading as it will all become clear soon. Stay tuned for more odd yaoi couples from me! (and possibly a sequel...)
Flames make me laugh but I'll listen to any CC you have. Please read, review, and enjoy! Finished 09-26-04

It all started with a little question.
It was something he'd have expected from Mistel, who had become even more hyperactive, if that were humanly possible, since he'd begun dating Rei. But no, the question had come from Garland. The silly, childish question that Brooklyn had been asked had come from the normally serious captain of BEGA. The thought that Garland could not only ask him something like that, but have an ulterior motive behind it was simply mind boggling...
... Brooklyn blamed Boris for it. After all, Garland would never have done it if he hadn't started dating the sneaky member of Neo Borg. Needless to say, the redhead had been perfectly content to not date anyone and merely adopt the "look but don't touch" policy. It had been working extremely well... Until Garland ruined everything of course.
&&& Earlier that day &&&
Brooklyn had been outside with his teammates, sitting on a bench in the park and enjoying the warm sun, while watching MingMing and Mistel practice blading against each other. To his right sat Moses, and to his left, Garland.
It was a rather quiet period of time, no huge tournaments coming up. There was, however, a small exhibition going on for whichever teams wanted to participate. No prize, no added fame, just a bunch of "friendly" matches. To his knowledge, Brooklyn knew that his team would compete, as well as Neo Borg (to Garland's delight), the BBA Revolution (Mistel was beside himself in excitement), F-Sangre, Baifuzu, and... Balthez Soldiers. But Brooklyn would think no more of that.
The match between the two youngest members of the team raged on, and Brooklyn vaguely wondered if any of the other teams would be around. After all, the hotel they were staying at was as close to where the exhibition was taking place as possible. Maybe there was all ready another team there that they just hadn't noticed yet... It might have helped if he'd looked at their rooms before coming to the park instead of letting the others make sure everything was okay.
"Hey, Brooklyn, can I ask you a question?" That came from Garland. Brooklyn shrugged; whatever it was, he knew it wouldn't be personal or anything like that. Garland wasn't the type to ask embarrassing questions.
"Sure. What is it?" Well, at least, Brooklyn had thought Garland wasn't the type to ask embarrassing questions. Perhaps if he'd turned away from the beyblade match for even a second he'd have noticed the small smirk on the other boy's face, and maybe he'd have actually listened to Garland's question without answering with the first thing that popped into his mind...
"You know Mihaeru from Balthez Soldiers? Do you think he's hot?"
"Hot? The guy's the sexiest thing I've ever seen-"
It was approximately half a second later that three things happened in perfect unison. First, Brooklyn realized what he was saying. No one was supposed to know about his crush on the blond captain of Balthez Soldiers. No one. He sincerely hoped that only his teammates had heard him…
Second, Garland began to laugh hysterically, leaving Brooklyn to wonder what was so funny. Sure, his crush wasn't conventional by any means, but it wasn't funny, was it? And why had Mistel and MingMing stopped their match to stare at them, which Moses was doing as well? Looking at them a little closer, they seemed to be staring past him, not at him…
The third thing to happen was in direct conflict with his wishes that no one, but his teammates, was to hear his earlier comment. Brooklyn heard a loud gasp from behind his bench, right where everyone else was staring. Okay, so someone else knowing was bad, but not terrible. It would only be terrible if Mihaeru himself was standing there. And Garland certainly wouldn't have pulled that stunt with Mihaeru there... Right? Taking a deep breath, Brooklyn turned his head and his gaze fell on none other than...
Oh yes, Mihaeru of course.
&&& Present time &&&
Brooklyn was torn over what to do. He could either strangle Garland, or he could go talk to the shell-shocked Mihaeru. He guessed that strangling his captain wasn't the greatest of ideas, so he decided the latter option was definitely better. He knew he had to explain things to Mihaeru. He wouldn't tell the blond exactly how deep his feelings ran, but he wouldn't lie either. No, he'd tell Mihaeru what he wanted to know and hope for the best.
But first they needed to be alone.
The redhead quickly rose from the bench, crossed the short distance to where Mihaeru was frozen, and pulled him off, away from the other's prying eyes and Garland's very out of character cat-calls. Oh yes, Boris was definitely a bad influence...
Brooklyn didn't stop dragging the other boy until he was sure they'd be alone- At the other end of the park. He stopped and faced Mihaeru, who still was in a daze. Brooklyn sighed and shook his head. He couldn't clear things up unless Mihaeru snapped out of his stupor.
"Mihaeru," he began, hoping his voice could wake him up, "about what just happened... Look, I'm sorry. You weren't supposed to hear that. I didn't want to make you uncomfortable or anything... Mihaeru, are you listening to me?"
While Brooklyn rambled out his apology, Mihaeru mind finally began processing again. By the time he heard "I'm sorry," Mihaeru was giving the redhead all of his attention. As he saw it, there was no way this was really happening...
"Mihaeru, say something, please?"
"How did you mean it?" Brooklyn looked surprised, but was glad that the blond was talking.
"How did I mean what?" Mihaeru suddenly looked nervous and he began to shift his weight from one foot to the other. When he answered, he couldn't bring his gaze to meet the other boy's.
"How did you mean what you said about me? Do you just think I'm hot or...? Or do you like me? Or love me or something..." In all honesty, Mihaeru thought that having Brooklyn say he was just another pretty face would be the most heart-breaking thing he'd ever hear in all his life...
Mihaeru had liked Brooklyn ever since BEGA was, for lack of a better word, evil. True, he'd been on the psychotic side back then, but Mihaeru couldn't help but be attracted to him. He was actually very sweet when he wasn't acting insane. Ever since BEGA had ditched Balkov, Mihaeru found himself liking the redhead more and more each and every time he saw him.
He'd told Claude, only because his friend had insisted on knowing why Mihaeru was so intent on participating in every single tournament BEGA entered in, and Matilda had guessed after catching him drooling whenever Brooklyn was around one time too many. Aaron didn't know yet, though he shouldn't care either. So all in all, there were no problems with him liking Brooklyn... So long as Brooklyn liked him as well.
Had Brooklyn known that Mihaeru shared his sentiments, he wouldn't have been so nervous about telling the truth. He had said he wouldn't lie, and he didn't plan to, but why was telling someone that you loved them so hard?
'I should just tell him straight out... But what if he doesn't like me? He doesn't seem upset though, just nervous. Maybe he- What am I doing? Either he likes me or he doesn't. Worrying won't change anything! Clichéd or not, I have to tell him what's in my heart.'
"I really like you," Brooklyn blurted out, before he could change his mind. Mihaeru's eyes widened, which poor Brooklyn took as a bad thing. "I'm really sorry, I just can't help it! You're really cute and nice and a good blader and I promise not to bother you and-" The redhead's run-on sentence was cut short when the blond placed a finger on his lips to silence him. Brooklyn felt himself blush as Mihaeru smiled up at him.
"It's okay Brooklyn," he coaxed, slowly removing his finger. "I think all those things about you too. And I want you to bother me, because..." He trailed off as he closed the distance between their bodies and pulled the taller boy into a hug. "Because I love you."
Now it was Brooklyn's turn to be amazed, but he couldn't have been happier if he'd tried. Mihaeru loved him! Thankfully, all of his worrying had been for nothing. A smile donned his face as he gathered the smaller boy in his arms.
"I love you too Mihaeru. And I don't care who knows. I want to spend as much time with you as possible." Mihaeru sighed happily and snuggled deeper into the embrace.
"That sounds good..."
&&&&&&&&&&
"Aww, that's so sweet!"
"I wish I had a camera..."
"It's about time."
"I was wondering if they'd ever get together..."
"Wait until Boris hears about this!"
"I can't wait to tell Rei!"
"Wow, I never would have guessed..."
Hiding behind a very large set of conveniently placed bushes, the other members of BEGA and Balthez Soldiers (Matilda, MingMing, Claude, Moses, Garland, Mistel, and Aaron respectively) watched as the two boys brought their lips together in a sweet first kiss.
It had been an ingenious plan on their part- Matilda asked Mihaeru to go check out the park to see if it was suitable for blading, and when Garland saw him coming, he asked Brooklyn "The Question". Mistel, Moses, and MingMing played their parts by pretending to be surprised when they saw Mihaeru, and Claude dragged Aaron to the park to show him that their captain was indeed in love with Brooklyn. Everything had worked like a charm.
Oblivious to the seven pairs of eyes watching, the new couple continued to share soft kisses. Deciding that even though it was adorable, they still needed their privacy; Matilda motioned to the others that they should leave. Nodding, they followed her back to the hotel they were all staying at.
Giggling to herself, Matilda wondered what the boys would think about the second part of their plan... When the rest of BEGA had been inside earlier, they'd canceled Brooklyn's room without him knowing it.
She hoped Mihaeru and Brooklyn didn't mind sharing a bed!
