Waking Up

What...? What happened?

All he saw was a white screen in front of his eyes. Nothing else, just blank white screen.

Light...

He realized there's a light in bottom of the right corner of the screen.

Where am I?

"Oh, Doctor! Doctor, quick!" an unfamiliar woman's voice shouted from nowhere.

He raised his head and saw a white room with machines all around him. He realized that the white screen was the ceiling and the light in the corner of it was actually the light of the lamp that was hanging from the ceiling. His neck and head began to hurt so he put it back on the pillow, just when he saw that he was lying in a bed.

"He woke up!" The same woman's voice said again.

"Call his parents!" Said another voice quickly, a man's this time; it seemed that he just entered the room, and then there was a sound of running feet that faded away. A bright light suddenly blinded his right eye and then his left one. "Adam? Can you hear me?" said the man's voice as the light went away from his face.

"What...?" He managed to say, not sure who he was talking to. "Where...am I?"

"You're in the hospital, Adam. Don't worry; your parents are coming now. I'm Dr. Davis," a man wearing a white robe looked down at his face. He was about the age of 40, his hair was turning gray from light brown and his eyes were black and full.

"My parents...?" He asked.

"Oh, I see you're still feeling a bit blurry. Well, that's pretty normal for a guy who was in a coma for four years..."

"What are you talking about? Who's Adam?" he said faintly. He was so confused, and felt like a planet just crashed into him... maybe that's explains that horrible headache I'm feeling, he thought.

The doctor grinned at him. He had this small irritating laugh that made his head feels like it's about to explode, "you, of course."

"No, I'm Harry. You must have a mistake, sir."

"Um... Could be a type of a temporary amnesia..." the doctor muttered under his breath, and Harry didn't exactly hear what he said. The weird doctor left the room without another word or glance at him. Harry thought what a stupid doctor he is if he doesn't recognize his own patients. Tons of questions flooded his mind.

But, that's doesn't even explain why I'm in a hospital... Could it be St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries? Why I'm not in Hogwarts? How did I even gotten here? What was the dill with that doctor, anyway? 'My parents...' Yeah, right...

He needed to get up, like he hasn't walk in a dozen years, which was weird because he remembered he was perfectly fine until he woke up in this place. He put his feet on the floor and moved his weight onto his legs. He felt like he's going to fall, so he gave up and sat back on the edge of the bed, before he'll hit the floor.

I'm too weak to walk. I don't even know how long I've been here. Couldn't be that long...

He covered himself with the blanket and tried to remember the last thing that was on his mind. Quidditch! He was playing Quidditch – Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw. But he couldn't remember that he caught the Snitch. He couldn't even remember who'd won the game. Maybe he got hit too hard by a Bludger or something so that's why he's in a hospital. Maybe Madam Pomfrey couldn't take care of him at Hogwarts, so she sent him to a hospital. But then he looked around the room, it's a Muggle's hospital, he realized because no one seemed to use any magic around.

The doctor came back to the room after fifteen minutes or so. A man and a woman entered to the room after him, they seemed to be a couple, by the way the man put his hand over the woman's shoulder, and they seemed to be on their late 30's. Harry just lay on the bad and looked at them, not sure what's happening. They talked to the doctor by the door, but Harry couldn't hear what they were saying, it didn't matter anyway because he didn't even know who they were. The doctor stood by the door and watched the couple walking over to Harry. Harry saw them looking at him. The woman smiled at him excitedly. They both set next to him on the bed.

"Adam..." The woman said with a smile on her face. "How are you, sweetie?"

He didn't answer her.

"Do you recognize us?" The man asked him.

Harry shook his head slowly. The couple looked at each other with concern looks on their faces. They both gasped at the same time.

"Honey, I know you're very confused right now, but can you try? For me?" she bagged him.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, I don't know who you are..." He felt like he disappointed her, but what could he do? He doesn't even know where he is or what happened, and now – this.

"Adam, we're your parents. Don't you remember us?"

"My name is not Adam," Harry said. This is the third time that people called him by that name ever since he woke up. "I'm...I'm Harry."

"The chief of the hospital and I talked about it earlier, we agreed that he lost his memory," said the doctor that was still standing by the door. "We're not sure how long it will take until his full memory will get back, if ever."

Harry looked at the doctor. What the hell he is talking about?! The woman started to cry on her husband's shoulder and he hugged her for comfort.

"Listen," said the man to him. "I'm going to tell you something that you might not like to hear, but you need to know exactly what happened, so you might be a little confused or shocked, but just hear me out and don't say anything until I'll say my words, OK?" Harry nodded and the man continued talking. "Four years ago you got hit by a car, some crazy drunk driver... hit-and-run accident..." he gasped, "you got a really bad injury in the head and the doctors said you were in a coma. By the time, you started to show symptoms of improving; you started blinking, mumbling words, moving your hands. We knew it was only a matter of time until you'll wake up again. And here you are..." he smiled at him.

"No..." Harry shook his head; he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "How could it be that the last four years of my life are gone? It was the greatest time I had in all my life. What happened to Ron, Hermione and Hogwarts?! I'm... I'm not a wizard?" he yelled without even noticing what he was saying.

"Doctor?" The woman stopped sobbing and looked at the doctor in concern as he approached them.

"I'm not sure what it is, but I'll check it out. I can assume that while he was in a coma, he developed some sort of a new world in his imagination where he was another figure..." said the doctor to the worried couple.

"No! You're lying!" Harry yelled at him, it made his head hurt once again.

"Am I? Harry, is it?" he turned around and walked to a small closet that was in the corner of the room, he opened it and took out something from it, then again, he walked to Harry. "Here, look at this," the doctor hand him a small mirror. Harry looked at the mirror and a horrific look sat on his face. He looked at the figure in the mirror, it wasn't him at all. It was another boy; a boy with a dark blond hair, with blue-green, long and pale face. And his forehead was scar-less. He started panicking, my scar! Where is my scar?! The scar that made him famous all around the wizarding world was gone. There was no bolt of lighting above his eyebrows anymore.

"Noooo!!"

"You see, like I said, it was only in you imagination. You're not Harry, but Adam Stuart."

Harry felt dizzy and the voices around him started to fade away, the whole room was turning black, just when he felt that someone was shaking him. He got up from bed in a fright, sweat was all over his face, seeing blurry a dark room. He realized it was night again.

What happened? Where am I?

"Harry, are you OK?" He heard a familiar voice.

"Madam Pomfrey? Is that you?" he kept panting, but tried to get back to his normal breath. The lights in the room turned on all of the sudden and showed the ward of the hospital wing. Harry could see the outlines of Madam Pomfrey, who was standing next to his bed with a wet towel in her hand. He searched his glasses to see better and found them on a small table next to his bed so he put them on.

"Shhh... I'm here, I'm here," she said calmly while she sat next to him and started to wipe his face with the towel. "Did you have a bad dream?"

"More like my worst nightmare... – Ouch!" he felt a sharp pain in his head again. He touched his forehead and realized it was wrapped with bandages. He inserted his fingers under them and felt his scar right when it always was. A smile sat on his face as he calmed down. "What time is it? What happened?"

"Well, it's 3 in the morning and you're here because you got hit in the head by a Bludger in the Quidditch game that was yesterday."

"Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw?" he realized.

"Ha-hua, so you do remember. All of your friends were worried about you. You know, it was really scary the way you fell off from your broom and fainted. Ms. Granger and Mr. Weasley were so worried that you won't wake up again until Mr. Weasley insisted on sleeping here tonight."

Harry looked around the room, but there was no sign of Ron. "Where is he than?"

"Ms. Granger forced him not to stay here," she laughed. "It's good that you woke up, though. I believe that you will be able to go back to the classes in two days."

Harry nodded "Well, it's good to be awake again." Then, something caught his thoughts, "by the way, who won the game?"

"Well, no one. The Ravenclaw's seeker fell off his broom, too, but not as bad as you had. Everyone was in a hurry to see if you two were all right, so the game was canceled," she gave him a smile. "Now, go back to sleep."

Madam Pomfrey turned off the dim lights with her wand and Harry immediately fell asleep again, he was so glad that it was only a dream...

The end.
