Our Hearts
By Rebecca Wheeler
You're crazy, King Clopin, she's Princess of France!
It must be a trap; you're a gypsy, you know!
You're mad! You said yes? When she asked you to dance?
You're foolish; the king will kill you with one blow!
Princess or not, I care much for this girl,
Her voice is so gentle, her touch so pure,
If I do not love her, why does my mind twirl?
I'm in love, and I tell you, this feeling's for sure;
You can't be in love! This is so absurd!
You're only a gypsy, what you feel must be lust!
Do you not know, nor haven't you heard?
Once the guards catch you, is it her you will trust?
But I love her so much, doesn't anyone understand?
And in the name of love, I'll hold her forever,
Difference won't matter, we'll tell them, holding hands,
Though houses divided, our hearts remain together;
Our love will live on, even after death we part,
Our love beats as one, the love in our hearts.
