A/N: This takes place in the 5 years unwritten period in my fic "Billy’s first love." (btw-song from Voltair)

The Reaper and the Goddess

By: Invader Tom

The Grim Reaper walked out of Billy’s late one night. The sky was pitch black, and full of dark clouds. A cool breeze swept the night in absolute silence. Grim loved nights like these. They were perfect for wandering no where in particular with nobody around. Just silence and solitude, which suited his surprisingly happy mood. These days, he has more freedom from Billy and Mandy, letting him do the occasional reaping while they are at high school.

He walked downtown to get himself a smoothy at the bar in Endsville’s large shopping mall, when he heard a soft whimper coming from a public bench outside the huge building.

You, there on the bridge
Where have you been, what’s your name?
And you, there you on the wall
Where will you go to once you fall?
You, lost at sea
Do you need me, do you need directions?
Hey, put down the gun
what are you thinking?
You were someone's son

Grim may have been evil and the Reaper of souls, but even he had a heart... metaphorically speaking that is.

"Excuse me miss, are you ok?" Grim asked the pale woman. She had elegant long blonde hair with a beautiful sparkling tiara atop her head, a couple of gold bracelets, a short white miniskirt and a white off-shoulder tank top, exposing her mid drift.

The taste of tears
The sting of pain
The smell of fear
The sounds of crying

The young woman looked up, her face displaying tear stained eyeliner and smeared lipstick.

"Eris?" Grim asked softly.

"What do you want, bonehead?" Eris barked through tears.

A long, long time ago I fell to this place
From another dimension
And thrust amongst the beasts
And the way they behave borders on dementia
Now through all these years
I can barely take it
I don't think I can make it
Take me away from here
I want to go home

Grim sat next to her. "What happened?" He asked with concern in his voice.

"It’s nothing Grim." Eris said quietly, hugging her knees close to her.

Grim cocked an unreal eyebrow. "Don’t try to lie to the Reaper, Eris."

"What do you want from me?" She hissed.

"I want you to tell me what’s wrong." Grim replied.

I'm so sick and tired of
The taste of tears
The sting of pain
The smell of fear
The sounds of crying
As you standing at the edge of your life
What do you remember?
Was it all you wanted?

"What’s wrong?" Eris asked him. "Fine. I’ll tell you what’s wrong. I’m ugly that’s what!"

Grim leapt up from his seat beside her. "Eris, that is a load of bile and you know it! I don’t know how you do it every day; you put other girls to shame with your looks. You’re a freaking goddess for crying out loud!"

"Well, then why did Adonis yell at me and say that he wouldn’t use me to scrape the crud from the back of his foot?" Eris asked, bursting into tears.

"Because he’s a meat head that doesn’t deserve your attention. So why don’t you create chaos on his ass?" Grim asked simply.

"B—because I love him." Eris said between tears.

"Well he’s not worth your tears." Grim sat back down next to her. "Look. I was gunna go and get a smoothy. Would you like to join me?"

Eris nodded, and followed him inside.

I'm trying to earn a set of feathery wings
I wish I could protect you here
Oh, please don't cry
Now smile as you're standing
At the edge of your life
Your troubles are over
Mine are just beginning
I'm trying to earn a set of feathery wings
To take me away from here
Its me you leave behind

"So why did you want me to join you?" Eris asked. They were at their table. Eris had an orange smoothy set down in front of her. She wiped her eyes.

"I don’t like to see one of my friends upset like dat." Grim explained, sucking on the straw of his blackcurrant smoothy.

"Friend?" Eris asked. "Since when have you considered me a friend?"

"Oh come on now, Eris. I used to do your homework in high school and for that I was the only one you allowed to use that golden apple of yours." Grim answered.

If only I could have been there
I'd be a hand for the sinking
If only I could have been there
I'd be a prayer for the dying
See the pain etched in my face

"Oh yeah. Remember when you used it shrink Jester and the other little demon guys you hung out with?"

Grim laughed. "Yeah. We never did change them back did we?"

This conversation lasted a good 30 minutes until they decided to leave.

I'm so sick and tired of
The taste of tears
The sting of pain
The smell of fear
The sounds of crying
As you're standing at the edge of your life
What do you remember was it all you wanted

"Thanks." Eris said As they walked out of the door into the dark of night.

"You’re welcome." Grim replied. "Are you going to be ok?"

"Yeah." Eris answered. She turned to leave. "Hey Grim?"

I'm trying to earn a set of feathery wings
I wish I could protect you here
Oh, please don't cry
Now smile as you're standing
At the edge of your life
Your troubles are over
Mine are just beginning

Grim looked back at the goddess. "Yeah?"

"W—would you like to do this again?" Eris asked.

"Sure." Grim replied.

"I’m free tomorrow." Eris said, walking back up to him.

"I’ll make time." Grim replied, smiling.

Eris smiled. She then put her arms around the skeleton and kissed his lips... or at least were his lips should be.

Grim hesitated at first but finally closed his eye sockets and kissed her back.

Eris pulled out in after what seemed like an eternity. "Same time same place?" She asked.

A dreamy smile on his lips, Grim just nodded and waved goodbye to her as they both walked their separate ways.

I'm trying to earn a set of feathery wings
To take me away from here
Its me you leave
You're gone from here
Don't leave from here
Don't leave me here
I hate it here
You're gone from here
Don't leave me here
I need you here
I need to see you smile
