Thanks for the review. I know that my story means something to someone.

-Flashback-

After the carriage ride, we were tossed aboard a waiting ship in the harbor. When I finally awoke, I found myself in the brig. I moaned. My head was pounding.

In a rush, I remembered. Where were my brothers and sisters? I got up quickly and grasped my cell bars. Peter was lying on the floor in the cell in front of me.

"Peter!" He didn't stir. "Peter! Wake up!" I banged on the bars in frustration.

"Sarah?" I turned towards the raspy voice.

Kimmi, Jackson and Emily were in a cell together beside me. Emily was huddled in a ball crying and Jackson was sniffling. Kimmi turned to me and started crying as well. My eyes misted over before I caught hold of myself.

"Now, you three stop that. Crying won't do you a lick of good." I handed Kimmi my handkerchief. "Here, you wipe their faces off and stop crying this minute. Daddy always said not to let your enemies see your fear."

"And your father was very wise indeed, child." I turned to see our captor standing outside my cell.

"He was wise enough to raise us to hate men like you." I flashed my eyes at him.

He looked shocked. "You would hate your own family?"

"You're not my family."

"And what makes you say that?"

I gripped my cell bars. "What kind of family locks children in cells and leaves them to die?"

"I can assure you that my intentions are-"

I cut him off. "Your intentions nothing. I demand that you let us out of here."

He ignored me. "Such beauty and fire." He moved his hand towards my face. I snapped at his finger so he withdrew it. "The puppy can bite, eh?"

I stared at him confidently. "The puppy can kill. And kill it shall." He growled and left the room.

A young man came into view from the door. He walked over to my cell.

"Hello, Sarah. Remember me?"

I stared blankly at his face. "No."

"You left a painful mark on my hand." He lifted his arm and revealed his hand which had two big chunks taken out of it.

I grinned. "Oh, yes. I remember." I snarled. "I hope that it gets infected."

His smile left his face. "You would do well to obey the Captain."

"I will do no such thing."

"Are you certain?"

"Yes."

"Are you sure that you don't need to be persuaded?"

In a second, he had caught my arms and leaned in to kiss me. Before he could, something stabbed him from behind. He yelped and let me go. Peter stood behind him in his cell triumphantly holding an old bone, which he swung a few times before the man left.

"Are you okay, Sarah?" Peter asked.

I caught the cell bars before I fell over with fright and nodded. He looked at the other cell and saw the babies sleeping.

"Peter." He grunted. "How are we going to get out of here?"

He smiled and it comforted me. "I'll think of something, Sarah. Don't worry."

Yeah, it's short. I've been sitting here for a whole day trying to think of more, but I can't.
