I'll Be There

I was so cruel. Even now, hours later, I can't believe I could be so heartless... so unfeeling. Maybe my commander was right. Maybe I really am just an ice bitch with no heart to feel pain. I... I just can't believe what a fool I was.

-But you saved him.-

I should have been there before. Shouldn't have let us fall into the wrong hands. I should have protected him.

-You did what you could to protect Jamie.-

But I should have saved Coop. Should have been by his side...

-Without you, Jamie would still be in that stinking cell.-

It was my fault we were there. I never should have tried to fly MEGAS to the rescue.

-If you hadn't, Coop would never have defeated the Glorft.-

Then I'd have a reason to stay by his side. I wouldn't have to worry about being cast out.

-Do you really think Coop's that heartless?-

No...

-Jamie wouldn't kick you out either. He confided in you. You're a part of them now.-

I shouldn't be.

-Why? Because you tried so hard to keep them away from your heart? To block them out?-

I need no one.

-Then why do you feel so right around them? Why do you tease them? Why do you even tolerate them?-

-To be accepted? You really are being stupid now.-

-Coop and Jamie accepted you because of who you are, and what you are. Not because of what you were.-
