Chapter One
At a castle hidden by the fog, a woman walks into a room and bows her head behind the thin rice paper screen.
“I have failed, Inuyasha, still lives.”
“So you say Inuyasha still lives, Kikyo?”
“Yes Master Naraku,” Kikyo bowed, her forehead barely touched the tatami floor mats, “I will accept my punishment for not completing your orders.”
“Punishment Kikyo? No, I will not punish you…this time, come.” Naraku beckoned Kikyo forth with an open hand; she took it and kneeled in front of him. Naraku held out a piece of the tainted sacred jewel.
“Take this, a fragment of the sacred jewel and make your body warm for me.” Kikyo reached out and stopped with her hand right in front of his hand, “Naraku are you so sure you can trust me, she who protected the Jewel with her very life. I will not be controlled by the very jewel I protected.” Naraku smirked and gently pressed the fragment in the middle of her chest. It glowed an eerie purple, then its aura faded to a dark red and Kikyo’s flesh knew warmth.
“Kikyo, you are mine not by the power of the jewel, but by the sorrow and hatred you have for losing your only love. He killed you fifty years ago, with his own claws.” Naraku watched dispassionately Kikyo’s eyes teared up.
Kikyo lowered her head to the ground, and several tears fell, one by one on the ground. Naraku looked to the ground fascinated by the wet tears on the floor. Human’s even undead ones that could feel such sorrowful love touched him, not in the heart but in the passion of the flesh.
Kikyo whispered, “Sweet merciful gods…Naraku…I love him so much!” Kikyo cried bitterly, “I love him! But I can-can’t have him…I’m DEAD…” she sobbed tears now streaming down her face, “I died fif-fifty years ago…Oh! Inuyasha!” Kikyo fell in Naraku’s open arms her face hidden in his kimono, crying softly now, snobs racking her whole body every now and then, she clung to his torso wrapping her fingers in his robes.
“There…there shush, Kikyo, you will love again, even if it is in hell, I promise…” Naraku stroked Kikyo’s hair as she stopped crying. ‘But you can never have Inuyasha, you are no longer his love, you are his sorrow.’ Naraku slowly raised up Kikyo’s tear stained face pressing gentle kisses, and murmuring soft words of comfort. They kissed slowly trying to forget their own sorrows. A servant slowly shut the screen closed, wiping away the tears from her eyes, she left the lovers alone to themselves.
