A/N: This is a short poem about how Inuyasha views his past, through what his claws have done. It's an introspective piece.

Claws

Blood.

So much blood on my hands, my fingers—

My claws.

Slayer of countless demons—

Murderer of innocent humans.

Deadly.

Nimble.

Long, sharp tapers—

Bearers of death.

Holder of still-beating hearts.

Blood.

Trickled over my hands, my fingers—

My claws.

Dipped in hot blood—

Vicious blades of it.

Torn soft flesh.

Hands of a killer.

Fingers of an eradicator.

Claws of an assassin.

Kagome slips her hand into mine.

Our fingers intertwine.

She brushes my claws.

She smiles.

She is unafraid.

She trusts me...

She loves me.

Assassin, eradicator, killer—

I am no longer.

Friend, savior, lover.

Protecting.

Helping.

Understanding—

My claws.

Needless blood—

No more do I shed.
