My December

She's down in the hall, eyes shining, lips curled in a beautiful smile. How I wish she was that happy to see me.

She used to be. She used to look at me like that.

But I threw it away, because I was scared of losing everything. Scared that we wouldn't work, scared of hurting everyone. Because there was Arwen, who had already given so much to be with me. I couldn't have hurt Arwen. I couldn't have made her sacrifice be wasted.

I wish I had done.
