Kurtis’ strange weapon lay in a pool of fresh blood on the arena floor. Lara approached the spot with a growing sense of foreboding, her boots dully thudding upon the metal grating. His body was nowhere to be seen however, which might have been a good thing, except for the voice in her mind which told her he may have gotten up and collapsed elsewhere. Either way, the situation looked quite bleak. There was just so much blood.

She bent down and picked up his weapon, jumping slightly when the blades sprang out and the thing began to glow orange, just like it did when he had wielded it with his mind. She kept a firm grip on it, and it pulled her body in the direction of the open door from which Boaz had emerged. The thing gave one last tug, and then the blades retracted. She smiled a knowing smile, and headed towards the door it had pointed to, an angel slowly fading into the darkness...
