Kissing in the Rain

.

.

As the rain tapped hardly against the cold and puddeled ground, footsteps of the US citizens roamed all over the city. These citizens were safely holding hands of another and they stayed close to someone, all dried up and warm with their rain jackets and their umbrellas, joyfully chatting among themselves and others on their way home or work. Ah yes... the rain was enjoyable and romantic to some... but for others, it was nothing but a mere drop of annoyance.

A beautiful and yet wet figure ran swiftly down the wet pathway; it was a girl. A mere girl. Her hands had red spots due to the heavy load of grocery bags she was carrying home. Panting heavily, she fixed her eyes in front of her and continued running down the wet and cold sidewalk, ignoring all the puddles of water splashing around her. She closed her eyes for only a mere second before opening them again, getting more strength to run further.

I've got to make it home before Mom does... she thought, her cheeks turning cold. I've only got two hours to prepare something...

Her boots splattered in puddles of water as she continued down the path, holding the grocery bags firmly in the palm of her hands. Her shortened tied-up hair blew with the wind as she ran and her violet-colored eyes shimmered with weakness and tiredness. She was barley able to hold on much longer...

She couldn't take the running... it was too much for her...

Stupid boots... she thought.

Slowing down, the girl realized she could not keep her eyes open for a long period of time; she had a hard time keeping them open. I can't slow down now... she thought. I'm gonna be late...

She forced herself to continue running.

She ran... she ran like nothing could stop her. Her grip on the huge load of grocery bags tightened, making sure they didn't fall out of their proper placement. Ignoring the wet ends on her slim jacket and the cold and hard rain hit her face with extreme force, she ran... she ran...

Her eyes couldn't take much more of this... growing weak and tired, she closed her eyes and tripped on her heels as she did so, with the grocery bags falling down; products scattered everywhere... on the road, the pavement. But nobody stopped to help... nobody...

Hesitating and struggling to keep her eyes open, she tried to get up, but found it impossible. As usual, nobody stopped to help her up...

Suddenly, she felt a warm presence in front of her; though she couldn't make it out who it was. Then, she couldn't feel the rain tapping on her head anymore... something was holding the rain back. She tried so hard to open her eyes, but it wouldn't let her. Then someone took her hand gentley, rubbing their thumb against it.

The figure in front of her gave only but a mere grin. "You should be more careful, Sammy... "

With pure hesitation, the girl managed to open her eyes; there in front of her stood a young man of her age with dark hair and ocean-colored eyes, shimmering with sorrow as he held an umbrella on top of both of them; he was gazing down at her with concern. He only gave a weak grin before reaching out a hand and stroking her cheek gentley. She closed her eyes and enjoyed his touch. "D-Danny...?"

He grinned again, only with concern this time. "You want help with those bags, Sammy?"

She gave out a slight laugh the the nickname he had came up for her, but gave a slight nod in return. "Th-That'd be great..."

Before she could say anything, he picked up all of the products scattered across the pavement and shoved them into the grocery bag, giving out a hand to her. She accepted his hand but hesitated on getting up. Standing up, she tripped on her long heels again but this time she did not fall; the boy caught her around the waist with one of his arms before she could. Putting a hand on top of his chest, she looked up at him as he gave her a sweet and sympathetic smile. She smiled back at him. They both looked down and noticed the grocery bags fell down again.

"Danny you're such a klutz..." she told him, giggling.

"Meh..." he only responded, looking down at her.

"'Meh?' Is that the only thing you can say?" she said with a laugh, jokingly. She looked back down at the dirty groceries. "Great... what a waste of money. Now I have to buy them again..."

"You don't need to, Sammy, I'll buy them for you," he said stroking her cheek again with his hands, eyes shining with great tender. "I'll make it up to you..."

"D-Danny..." she whispered, eyes half closed; she enjoyed the touch he gave her. She enjoyed the boy's warm presence near her as much as she enjoyed being with him.

He touched her cheek as she opened her eyes to find their heads were only an inch apart from one another; he stared at her beauty under the umbrella and began admiring her. He ran his fingers through her short hair and smiled at her. She smiled back at him. Suddenly... the two felt something they had never felt before. The feeling struck them like an arrow. That caused the two to hold each other closer than before; the boy pulled her waist closer, so his chest ended up against hers. She reached her hand up to touch his cheek, as the two felt their heads tilting in closer...

She could feel his warm and nice breath on her cheek and she loved it... he could smell her wonderful scent and he loved it... and as their hearts took control of them, they closed their eyes and they leaned in closer than before... as their lips touched one another's and the two shared a passionate and tender kiss... under the umbrella...

Under the rain...
