Chapter Nine

“Mr. Klic,” Matt begins rather nervously, “you never gave us the device that enlarges things back to their normal size once they have been shrunk.”

Mr. Klic looks up from his newest experiment: liquid nitrogen mixed with whipped cream, “What do you mean?”

“We mean,” Matt says looking at Melina, “that we really need it, and you better give it to us.”

“I already gave you the Shrinker.”

“Yeah, and you kept the better copy of it; now your gonna’ give us the Enlarger or, I’ll have to take this into my own hands.” Melina says smiling evilly at him.

“I still don’t get what you mean.” Mr. Klic says.

“Hand over the Enlarger now, buster!” Melina orders.

“But-!”

“NOW!” Melina and Matt say at the same time.

“I haven’t made it yet.” Mr. Klic says.

“You what?” Matt says.

“I haven’t made it yet, and I can’t make it until I’ve finished testing this experiment.”

“You’re going to make the Enlarger right now, Klickey-Boy, or I’m going to do something drastic.” Melina says with barely concealed anger.

“Fine, but I don’t see what you need it for anyways. I thought you like shrinking your sister and her friends.”

“Actually, she’s not my sister,” Melina says. Matt finishes her sentence, “And Kate is not her friend.”

“And you’re going to make that Enlarger because we told you to.” Melina says, then the Two Terrors walk out of the room.

“OK, Kate, you know that you have to leave the door open?” Lizzie says anxiously.

“Duh, but who says I’m gonna leave it open?” Kate says.

“I have the keys, so if you don’t leave the door open, it won’t matter.”

“Than why do you want it open?” Kate asks.

“Who knows, we might be getting chased by a spider and need to get in quickly.” Lizzie says.

“Fine, I’ll leave the door open.”

“Good, and, um……” Lizzie’s voice trails of as she hears Miranda calling for her to hurry up and get over to Matt’s door. “bye!”

“Yeah, bye!” Kate says. Lizzie hurries across Matt’s floor, and trips on one of his socks.
