Author's Note: Just something random I wrote at 4am for no reason other than I was having some Martian Manhunter love. I don't know why. I just was. ::shrug:: At any rate… here 'tis.
Disclaimer: I, the amazingly wondrous Caliente own… nothing. ::sigh:: Sad, ain't it?
Time Frame: Sometime between "Initiation" and "Wake the Dead" but it doesn't really matter when… Possible spoilers for the first episode but, again, not really.

Feelin' Alien
by, Caliente

These days I hardly ever leave the Watchtower. I am not certain how I feel about my new role among the League. Some days I feel as if I am nothing more than a glorified secretary-slash-herder with all the new members. When I was a more active member of the League, I felt like I was actually doing something. But now… now I just do not know.

I considered speaking to one of the other members about my concerns; however, most have other things weighing on the mind. Flash is busier than ever in Central and Keystone cities, respectively. Apparently his Rogues gallery has grown quite significantly since he joined the Justice League. More than once Green Lantern has had to back him up.

And, speaking of Green Lantern, he has not been the same since the incident with the Thanagarians. I knew of his love for Hawkgirl but… I did not anticipate it affecting him quite this strongly. Luckily, his new relationship with Vixen seems to be keeping his mind off of heavier matters.

I do wish I could say the same for Shayera; however, she is still searching, both in and out. I am aware of her whereabouts, it is very difficult to hide from a telepath, but I chose to respect her decision to leave. I know she needs time and so time we shall give her. I only hope she knows that she still has a family here.

I briefly considered either Superman or Batman but I have never been able to truly identify with either of them. They are so different, like light and dark. Like Kal-El, I am an alien on this planet; however, when the humans look at him, they see a hero. When they look at me, I fear they see a monster. I look different… it seems humanity fears what is different. And Batman, well, I do not believe anybody has been able to truly crack his shell.

Except, perhaps, the last founding member of the Justice League, Princess Diana of Themyscira. The Wonder Woman. She truly must be wondrous if she has broken through to the Batman. I believe that if I were to speak with anyone, it would be her. But, alas, even she has been too busy, protecting Gateway City, her adopted home, from several attacks.

Perhaps I just need a hobby…

End.

So… now you want to leave a review… right? C'mon, y'know you do! No? Pretend then? For me? …please? (And they say begging's demeaning… ha!)
