Well, that was interesting. I enjoyed writing the first chapter of this story. I hope it continues as good. And I'm so sorry for taking forever to update! Really, I am!

Kurama: where's Hiei?

DG: (looks at ceiling and whistles innocently (can't whistle very well))

Kurama: (sighs) what did you do to him?

DG: chained him up and threw him in my closet and locked the closet.

Kurama: why?

DG: so he wouldn't kill me just yet. I used the same kind of chains that were used on Amy in "Angel in the Darkness". Those chains will last a while.

Hiei: (muffled) let me out of here, onna!

DG: (sweatdrops) um … could you do the disclaimer, Kurama?

Kurama: (sighs) alright. DG doesn't own YYH.

DG: thanks. Well, here's the story! Ja ne!

EyeoftheTigerKissoftheDragon – I'm sorry I had to kill Amy off, but she wasn't meant to stay for book 2. I tried to make it so that Amy came back with the wish, but it didn't quite work out the way I wanted it. But you might be seeing more of her persona soon. (wink, wink)

Kuramas Girl Angel – so sorry it took so long to update! Honest! I was very busy with school and then I couldn't get any ideas to work with on this chapter. I hope it turned out alright.

Chapter 2

Training and Plans

After ten of kissing, among other things, Kayla and Hiei decide that it's time to start training. Kayla watches the forest carefully, as Hiei has hidden himself somewhere and could attack her at any moment. She senses a breeze come from behind her, and whirls to block his katana with hers.

She smirks as he tries a different approach. Instead of using pure speed to take her down, he circles her, watching for weakness in her defense. He suddenly attacks her leg. She jumps slightly to avoid the blade. She smirks at him as she lands on his sword lightly. She notices a glint in his eyes. He shoots a blast of fire at her. She dodges, stepping off of the sword. He swings the sword at her side, she blocks. She decides it is time to take the offense instead of staying on defense. She runs straight at him, sword in hand. He blocks.

They continue training for about eight hours, until the sun starts to set. She suddenly sits down on the grass to watch the sunset. He looks at her then at the sunset. He moves to stand behind the teen. "It's beautiful," Kayla whispers, her long hair swaying lightly in a gentle breeze.

"Hn," he says softly. She smiles at him, knowing what he meant.

"You agree?" she asks, trying to pull a direct answer from her friend.

He smirks at her. "It's nice, but not as beautiful as you," he says softly. Her eyes widen slightly in shock. Then she smiles up at him. Then she leans against his legs.

They watch the sunset together, until there is no more light to see by except for the stars and a sliver of the moon. He holds a hand out to help her up. She takes it, but instead of getting up, she pulls him down on top of her. His lips brush against hers as he falls. She smirks. "Watch it, onna," he says softly to her.

"Watch what?" she asks, playing innocent. He glares at her, seeing through her innocent act; then he kisses her. She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him closer to her.

Somewhere in the forest---

A tall man with long blood red hair and silver eyes silently watches the two. 'You will be mine, Kayla daughter of Amy Hinso,' he thinks. He had been watching the teen girl for a few months, ever since they had bumped into each other at the mall. He also knew that she was part demon. He is a wolf demon. He turns to his brown wolf form. He watches her and the Jaganshi for a few moments longer, feeling disgusted that such a beauty is being tainted by the Forbidden Child. Then he turns away and runs deeper into the woods.

He runs until he reaches a large, ancient temple. He looks around and sniffs the air. No one followed him. Good. He walks into the temple. He transforms back to his human form and follows the ancient corridors, kicking up little of the dust that had found the floor. He makes it to a room that is hidden by a large door. He opens it. This room has been in use for a several months. He goes and kneels before a throne. On the throne is a figure shrouded in darkness. "Have you any news?" the figure asks the man.

"Yes, my lord. I have found the Fallen Angel's child. Her name is Kayla. She is staying at the old temple owned by the psychic, Genkai. And she seems to be attracted to the Forbidden Child, Hiei Jaganshi," the man says, still kneeling. He practically spits out Hiei's name in disgust.

The figure notices. "You seem attracted to Kayla," it observes. The man freezes. "Infiltrate the psychic's temple and take the girl. Bring her here. She can be very … useful." The man nods, knowing that the figure on the throne would accept no excuses and no failures. "Go, and take your sister."

"Yes, my lord," the man says. He stands and leaves the room.

"So, how did it go?" he hears a female say as soon as he steps out from the room.

"We are to capture Kayla and bring her here," he says, ignoring the woman's question.

A female black wolf steps out of the shadows. She looks at him with knowing violet eyes. "You like her, don't you?" she asks softly.

"That is none of your concern, Rose," he says, calling her by a name she rarely lets anyone call her by. (HINT! HINT! HINT!)

"Raven, you know as well as I do that you can't hide anything from me. We swore blood-brotherhood when we found out about Amy," the black wolf says, jumping in front of him. "And even though she was taken from our wish, we can still get her daughter." (If you don't know who they are by now, you're worse than Kuwabara)

The man now known as Raven looks at the wolf. "Rose, we are going to take her tonight and bring her here," he says to the wolf, choosing to ignore the last comment. He turns into his wolf form. He looks at her and then runs out of the temple and into the night, Rose close behind him.

With Kayla and Hiei---

Kayla looks up at the night sky. She looks for the constellations. She notices that Gemini, her sign, and Sagittarius, Hiei's sign, are as close as they will ever get. Hiei seems to notice it too. "The signs are close," he says. She knows he meant their signs, even though he didn't specify which ones.

"So I noticed," she says. She glances over at him. He's right beside her and has one arm under his head and the other arm around her waist. She smiles and slides a little closer to him. She gives him a peck on the cheek.

He turns his head slightly, so that he can see her as well. He smiles a very rare smile at her. Then they both turn their eyes back to the sky. Kayla starts to feel tired from all that had happened that day. She closes her eyes, and snuggles really close to Hiei. He notices that she is slowly going to sleep. He sighs. He gets up and picks her up bridal style. Then he flits away to the temple. He senses that Yusuke and Arina are in Yusuke's room. He can tell by their energy signatures that they are asleep. He pauses to wonder at that. The two still argued often, even after knowing each other for ten years. But they are very close friends.

He shakes his head and continues to Kayla's room. He notices that Novastar is looking out the window. "You're back," the cat says, turning to him. "Took you two long enough." Hiei feels a slight blush creep across his nose. Then he smirks at the cat. "You two really should get a room if you want to have 'fun'."

This time he blushes deeply. "You're one to talk," he says to the cat. "You should mind your business, cat."

"I don't need a room," the cat says. "And haven't you ever heard how curious cats are?"

"Haven't you heard that 'curiosity killed the cat'?" Kayla mutters, waking up somewhat. "You two really need to be quiet when someone is trying to sleep." She stretches slightly. Then she smiles at the two, who are both glaring slightly at her. "Just a suggestion," she mutters. She yawns slightly. Hiei shakes his head and sits her on her bed. "You stay," she says, as he turns to go. He raises an eyebrow and tries to leave, only to find his cloak in her hands. "I said stay," she says, smirking.

"As you wish," he says, turning toward her. He sits down beside her and watches as she lies down in the bed. She motions for him to lay down beside her. He does, stretching out and wrapping his arms around her small waist.
