Chaos Angels was a unique little story that was my take on explaining the back story of Tikal. I wanted to explore the story that is barely touched upon in Sonic Adventure, and also connect how the characters experience flashbacks to particular sequences. For example, Sonic witnesses the scenes he does because he is receiving the memories of Cyclos, his ancestral self of sorts, etc.

I wanted to further explore the origins of Chaos and Angel Island, and how Tikal's father let his desire for power take control of him, and the pride of Angel tribe led to their downfall. The relationship between Cyclos and Zepha was to be a source of romantic tension similar to that of Marius and Eponine in Les Miserables, with Zepha harboring strong but secret feelings and inevitably acting upon them by sacrificing herself for Cyclos when war finally starts up.

The way this all ties into the Winds of Fate is that at the end, we discover Tikal has been telling this story to characters in the present during a journey which ends when all of the Winds of Fate stories end.
