Disclaimer- Gee, I have to write this a lot... No, Beyblade isn't mind, though yet again I put it on my Christmas list.
Author's note- A new PWPish fic, a new couple. Three new couples in fact. Two of which I claim the first writing of! So anyway, like most of my other Beyblade fics, I ignore the ending of G-Rev. And also yet again, everyone is conveniently staying in the same hotel. Surprise surprise! Some minor OOCness too. Stay tuned for more odd couples with the new characters!
Flames make me laugh but I'll listen to CC. Please read, review, and enjoy! Finished 12-11-04
Rei peeked over his shoulder to look at the person in question. The blond had been looking their way, but quickly turned around once he saw that he was being watched. Rei barely suppressed a smirk.
"Of course he likes you Mistel. Why else would he always seem to be looking your way?" Despite his best friend's confidence in the situation, Mistel couldn't help but feel nervous.
"But you're always with me! What if he's really looking at you? Or what if he thinks that we're together?" Rei chuckled softly, finding Mistel's insecurities quite amusing.
"Well, in either case, I'm sure Boris would have a thing or two to say about it. And I'm sure he's noticed how insanely possessive Boris can get when people come on to me." Mistel took this into consideration before nodding his consent.
"You're right... After that little episode last week with the president of your fan club glomping you, I guess it would be pretty hard to miss that you two are together..."
"Exactly," Rei confirmed. "That girl won't be able to look at sporks for many years... But enough about my boyfriend's violent tendencies and back to your love life. I'm sure that your future boyfriend is only interested in you." Mistel sighed and stole a quick glance across the room where the object of his affections was sitting and talking with his own best friend.
"I hope you're right. He's so... Well, I don't know exactly how to say it, but that's what he is! I mean, I'm not crazy, right? His fan club is almost as big as yours after all..." Rei rolled his eyes; that was Mistel for you, worrying one second and gushing like a lovesick schoolgirl the next...
"Well, I don't know about you not being crazy," this earned him a glare, "but you're right. He's not bad looking at all. Just don't tell Boris I said that... Unless you want your lover boy to lose all of his hair mysteriously one night." Mistel mentally giggled at the image, but then quickly composed himself and gave his agreement.
"So... How do I find out if he likes me?"
"Oh, I don't know, how about telling him how you feel?" The sarcasm was completely lost upon the Egyptian.
"No, I can't do that! I'd look like a fool! Maybe Garland would ask if he likes me..."
"Why would Garland- Oh, I get it, because he's your teammate, and your love's best friend's lover. Kind of a stretch isn't it?" Mistel shrugged and began to formulate what he'd ask Garland in his mind.
"He'll do it. Or he'll talk to Claude and get him to do it. Either way, it works." Rei could think of a thousand ways the Egyptian's plan could backfire, but decided against voicing any of them. At least this way Mistel would finally know if he was loved back. He'd only been infatuated for, oh, three months. And yes, Rei was quite capable of being sarcastic in his mind as well.
"Rei! Here he comes!" Rei's previous thoughts were interrupted by the frantic voice of the other boy. He looked up to see two boys walking past them to the door leading outside the hotel lobby. One was Claude, and the other was-
"Mihaeru," Mistel whispered longingly watching the blonde with preverbal hearts in his eyes. Oh yes, it was certainly about time Mistel found out the truth...
And thus the questioning began.
"Mihaeru, what do you think of Mistel?" Said blonde blinked with confusion.
"Mistel? Why do you ask?" Claude attempted to look innocent.
"Oh, no reason..." Unfortunately, he failed.
"Claude, do you honestly think I believe you? Now, why do you want to know what I think about Mistel?" Claude racked his brain trying to come up with an excuse. He hadn't planned on Mihaeru being so difficult...
"Um... I'm doing a poll?" Mihaeru didn't even bother to suppress his snort.
"If you hadn't made that into a question, I might have believed you. But you did, and I don't. Give. Me. The. Truth. Now." Claude admitted defeat to himself and silently apologized to Mistel. The only way to get answers was going to be the direct approach.
"Alright, I'll tell you, but you have to promise to stay calm, okay?" Mihaeru raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "Well, you see, Mistel has this crush-"
Currently, Mistel was leaning against a large tree outside of the hotel he was staying at. The weather was beautiful, and it was the perfect day to be out and enjoying the sunshine. It was also the perfect place to get some peace and quiet. To Mistel, this meant he had found the ideal spot to worry about his love life.
'Maybe Claude didn't want to do it. No, Garland can be pretty persuasive when he wants something... Of course, he'd sic his beyblade on me, but with Claude he'd probably- Eh, never mind, I don't need a mental picture... Maybe Claude talked to Mihaeru and he freaked out! Oh no, what if he hates me? What if he never wants to see me again? What if he-'
"MISTEL!" The Egyptian was yanked back to reality after hearing his name yelled by a very familiar voice...
"Mihaeru!" Mistel exclaimed, spinning around to face his crush, a prominent blush settled on his cheeks. "I'm sorry; I was just thinking about... things. Um, did you want something?" Mihaeru smirked at Mistel's obvious nervousness, but didn't point it out.
"Yes, actually I do, and now that I have your attention after calling your name for five minutes," at this point, Mistel's blush deepened; "I have three questions I'd like to ask you. Do you promise to answer me truthfully?" Mistel wondered what the other boy could possibly want to know, but nodded his assent nonetheless. It wasn't like he could deny the blonde anything...
"Good. First off, Claude tells me that you're attracted to me. Is it true?" If Mistel's face could have possibly gotten any redder, it would have. Claude was only supposed to ask questions, not tell Mihaeru how he felt! But still, he had to tell the truth. Maybe luck was on his side…
"Y-yes, I do." He mentally berated himself for stuttering. The last thing he wanted was for Mihaeru to think he was a wimp.
"Alright then, second question, do you want to go out with me?"
Mistel blinked. And blinked. And blinked again for good measure.
"Come again?" Mihaeru chuckled and took a step closer to Mistel.
"I said, do you want to go out with me? You know, be my boyfriend?" Mistel stayed silent for a few moments, simply staring at Mihaeru. Suddenly, his face split into a grin and he launched himself into Mihaeru's arms.
"Yes, yes, yes! I'd love to! Oh Mihaeru, I've liked you for the longest time-"
"Hey," Mihaeru interrupted, smiling at the smaller boy's enthusiasm, "I still have another question left."
"Oh yeah," Mistel replied, calming down a bit outwardly, though he was turning cartwheels inside, "what is it?"
Mihaeru put his arms around Mistel and brought him close. Mistel gazed up at him in childlike wonder as Mihaeru brought their faces mere inches from each other. Was Mihaeru going to do what Mistel thought he was going to do...?
"I think you know what I'm going to ask." Mistel grinned and looped his arms around Mihaeru's neck.
"Yes, I do. And the answer is yes."
No more words were said as Mihaeru closed the short distance between their lips. The kiss was short and simple, being the first kiss for the both of them, but it still seemed perfect to both boys. When they parted, Mistel sighed happily and rested his head on Mihaeru's shoulder.
"Mihaeru?"
"Yes, love?" Mistel giggled at the pet name, rather liking the way it sounded.
"Have you liked me for a long time, or did you just decide you liked me after you talked to Claude?" Mihaeru began to play with Mistel's braid in a small sign of affection as he answered.
"Didn't you ever notice me staring at you? I've been doing it for the past month. You wouldn't believe how happy I was when Claude told me how you felt."
"If it was anything like how I felt when you asked me to go out with you, I have a good guess..."
The pair fell into a comfortable silence, content to be in the other's presence after a month (or three months in Mistel's case) of supposed unrequited love, which wasn't actually unrequited at all. Though it would probably take them a while before they would say "I love you," deep in their hearts, they already knew that it was true.
After a while, Mihaeru gently pushed Mistel away and grabbed his hand, giving the Egyptian a devilish grin.
"Want to go to my room? We can spend some quality time together to get to know each other better." Mistel's eyes sparkled with excitement at the idea, but he couldn't help getting a small jab in at his new boyfriend.
"I thought you only had three questions for me? That makes four..." Mihaeru mock glared at the smaller boy, before smirking instead. Mistel looked at him in a delectably confused manner as Mihaeru let go of his hand-
Only to lift Mistel up bridal style.
Mistel yelped at the sudden sensation of no longer having his feet on the ground, but quickly adjusted. Mihaeru's arms were quite warm… He snuggled into them and laid his head on Mihaeru's chest. The sight was much too cute, of course, and the taller boy kissed the tip of Mistel's nose, earning him an adorable smile.
The new couple laughed with each other as they made their way into the hotel and up to Mihaeru's room, ignoring the stares they got from the other non-Beyblader patrons of the hotel. The people who saw them who were Beybladers (including Claude and Garland) merely smiled knowingly. The only people who hadn't seemed to have noticed the stares between the two boys were they themselves.
And as he lay contently in his new lover's arms, Mistel couldn't wait to tell Rei all about his day.
