It was snowing. He loved snow. It was really soft and yet very cold. Beautiful when untouched but so easily marred.

I've don't really like the snow all that much. The only thing good about it is that it rejuvinates Mother Earth. My mom used to tell me that when I would complain about the snow.

She was kind of like snow, even though she didn't like it. She was always so cold to the touch, and some people would even say that she was heatless. Sort of like a brutal snowstorm that burned your skin it was so cold. But if you wait for the storm to finish, and then go outside, you see how beautiful it is. If you waited for her to get used to you, she became so warm and inviting. She had such a soft and fragile heart.

When I was a kid at school, my friends and I would hole ourselves up in the library every recess during winter. We'd keep any and everything clean and tidy, but always find something to do. We'd do anything for an excuse to stay inside.

She had a lot of quirks. So many odd things that set her aside from the rest of the girls, the rest of society. He himself thought her to be really weird at first. She never talked to anyone outside her circle of friends. There wasn't many people in that circle. She had no social life, and during break, he'd always find her in front of her computer, typing away. Usually during winter, at least.

That looks amazing! It actually looks like a wolf, too. The most I could ever make with snow was an uneven snowman.

She was easily impressed. At least, she was always impressed with the works of her friends. He remembered practically dragging her out of her house one winter day to go for a walk, and they passed some kids making snow angels and stuff in the snow. There was an older boy there as well, sculpting some snow into the shape of a penguin. She had cocked her head to the side, and when they were out of his hearing range, she had said, "You could make one better than that."

I still remember playing around in the snow with my brother, back when I could actually stand it. I used to catch snowflakes on my tongue all of the time. I don't see what's so fun about it now, though.

He once asked her why she hated the snow so much now. She had looked at him and shrugged slightly.

It's just that it never goes away. Besides, it's white; I really don't like white, you know that, Albert. Why do you ask?

He had paused for a moment to think. Then he told her it was becuase he didn't understand how anybody could hate snow.

Why do you think snow is so beautiful?

He told her that snow reminded him of her. She had blinked, and her cheeks turned pink.

Yeah right...

She hadn't believed him. But the snow still reminded him of her, even more so now. Now that she and the snow were as one. She had died surrounded by snow. She was the snow.

Yeah right...

VDG: this had started out as a fic about Gerehime and a girl he once knew. But then I thought that it kinda reminded me of Hilda and Albert, so I changed it. As such, I wound up with this in the end. Yay...
