Shino/Hina fic Challenge
For Riomi
Title: Two of a Kind.
But sadly there was the one thing that turned the women away from him. Bugs were never an issue for him, he always had them around, but others just never understood. Hinata was different though. She never shied away from him and his bugs, even when she saw them in action or watching him talk to one of them. Strangely, sometimes he’d even catch her glimpsing at him with the byakugan and he knew she could see the happenings under his skin. Ah, she fascinated him.
Today was the day, he thought cautiously, it just had to be. Kiba was gone, he had come to find them for their mission with a wicked scowl on his face, his anger was apparent. He refused the assignment of delivering documents to the village in the Sand Country that was known for being cruel to their animals. Tsunade had shook her head as Kiba stood with arms crossed, fangs bared, shaking his head in refusal to go anywhere near that village. Akamaru sat on his hooded head growling while chewing on his new favorite toy, a small squeaky rubber duck.
Tsunade agreed to allow Shino and Hinata to do the mission alone, while giving the pouting Kiba a strange look followed by a large eye roll.
Now here they were, walking slowly along the deep green of the Konoha trees entranced in the melodious rustle of the leaves. She was beautiful, everything about her was amazing to him from the small steps she took to the soft purple highlights revealed in her hair sometimes when the light hit it just right. Perhaps they could talk, perhaps today they could find a new level..maybe it was a pipe dream but he had to try.
“Hinata, let’s sit for a minute, shall we?” he said softly, trying not to sound too eager as the day grew longer and his feet told him they could use a rest.
“Hm.” She said as her mind seemed to be somewhere else. Her large silver orbs scanned the trees for nothing in particular. “Ok, Naruto.”
“What?”
“S…Shino…oh, Shino. I’m sorry, I…I was just thinking about something.” The young sixteen year old sighed.
He smiled, she still had that shy voice, even after all these years, but her mind was sharp and her confidence had grown. He wasn’t upset with her mistake, he wasn’t jealous of Naruto, he understood for an Aburame getting women’s attention was difficult. The nice thing was, once an Aburame got it though, it was easy to keep. Seeing the beautiful women his relatives wooed, he knew that the Aburame men had an advantage over others, it was in the ability to be more sensitive than most men.
“Sit Hinata, I’ve got something here to eat and drink.” Shino pulled his sack from his shoulder and crouched next to her. He watched her take a plum from the items he pulled from his bag and take a small bite. She chewed slowly and he watched her tongue slip out onto her lips to take in the sweet juice that glinted there.
I love her, he mused. He’d loved her for years, but could never tell her. Aburame was strange to people. The bugs scared them. As a child he wasn’t touched by people outside his clan, he never felt neglected or unloved but just had an ingrained understanding that it was not always comfortable for people to be around someone like him.
Sitting beside her, he slipped off his dark glasses so he could look fully and clearly at her beauty. Her soft gentle tenderness always captured him in the quiet moments. Hinata noticed his slow movement and idly looked in his direction, then turning away only to have her vision snap back.
“Shino. I’ve never seen your eyes before.” She smiled softly as she took note of the unfamiliar look of the Aburame genius. She could see the blackness of them, like a deep cobalt blue tinted with ink. They were beautiful and all the times she’d looked at Shino, she’d never noticed how attractive his eyes were. She took another bite of her plum, licking her lips again and watching his eyes focus on her small ritual.
“Sh…shino.” Her eyebrows creased at his engrossed expression. She began to see the way he was looking at her. “Um…we should…”
Before she could finish her sentence, his lips were there, stopping her words. His fingers slipped in the back of her hair, gripping softly and gently pressing her mouth to his. He wanted her for so long, he wanted this for so long and the opportunity had presented itself.
Her fingers plied against his chest and he could sense the tenseness in her but as he continued to press his warm lips to hers, he felt the willingness creep into their kiss. Her lips parted ever so slightly and he took the opportunity to progress it.
With a sudden uncontrolled longing, he swept his tongue into her mouth, feeling hers respond and the warmth spread throughout his body. Her fingers now found his jacket, and tugged him a little towards her. It was as he wished for it to be, for her to want him back. He had waited so long to touch her, and to have her want to touch him in return.
Being Aburame meant letting people choose, and for him to take the first action with her was against everything he had learned growing up, but he couldn’t stop himself. All his fears banished and all his wishes were fulfilled as her fingers slid up his chest and touched his face, guiding their deep unrelenting kiss.
Too soon it ended, the shock and desire had given way to realization and gently they broke apart. Hinata looked at Shino with a strange gaze, almost with curiosity.
“Why did you do that Shino?” she whispered, her large translucent gaze penetrating him.
“I’ve always wanted to do that,” he replied, the depths of his eyes not wavering from the lock he had on hers.
“Why did you wait so long?” she smiled.
He took a deep breath, “Aburame is different. We don’t touch first but…” he looked away from her to the mossy ground. “…but, you’ve never been afraid of me.”
Hinata smiled as she got up to her knees in front of her dark haired teammate, she moved her face closer to his, showing her interest in another kiss. She’d never say it but in her wildest dreams she never thought a kiss could feel that good. Shino was always interesting to her and she knew she never felt unsafe around him. Now in this strange and extemporaneous moment, she felt new things for him, in just one kiss. She let the distance close and could feel his soft breath on her lips.
“Hinata, am I someone you could care about?” Shino’s deep soft voice said as their mouths almost touched.
“I’ve always cared about you Shino. You’ve always been special to me.” Her large eyes closed as she let her soft pink lips press against his, her tongue danced among his tasting the desire his first kiss had tempted her with. Pressing her body against his, she hummed with passion as the delight of his warmth washed over her.
Shino broke off from her and grasping her hand he placed it on his cheek and drank in the feel of a woman’s touch against his skin. He looked at her eyes and smiled. “Can I ask why you aren’t afraid of me…to touch me? I was so worried you’d be disgusted.”
“Shino,” her eyes creased in empathy, and then she smiled an understanding smile, “don’t you know. I’ve always felt safe with you…and all this time and unlike so many others…you were never afraid of me.”
