Endgame

Note: One of my first two "100 Word Drabble" attempts. This one I had to add 16 words. It was tough.

They said he would leave. They said he didn't care. They said people don't change,

According to them, the second we made it, he would run. They said it didn't matter what he left behind. Not what he made. Not what he supposedly had become. They said he didn't care about me. About our little girl.

They all said that his past spoke for itself. They probably said mine did too. None of that matters anymore, to him or me. People change.

They said he would leave. They said he didn't care. They said people don't change,

They were wrong.
