A/n: I was struck with a new story plot and I had to get it out. It is strong AU and will be Taito, so standard warnings apply.

Summary: Taichi Yagami is a prince of a powerful land. He is sent by his father for negotiations with a foreign land. He is captivated by an exotic being. Golden hair, sapphire eyes. Taito. AU.

Dance in Sunset

Taichi Yagami was bored. As well as angry, but his boredom far surpassed his anger at the moment. He didn’t want to go to the Eastern Lands. But his father forced him to go, promising that the ‘experience would be valuable for the future’. Taichi highly doubted that it would be valuable.

True, he was to be king of the Western Lands one day, but that day was far off in the distance, he was only 16, and his father was still fairly young and very fit for his age. Taichi was not worried about it at all.

However, his father saw it differently. He insisted that his successor had to go to the Eastern Lands to see the negotiations. As to why, Taichi was completely clueless, but his father had seemed happy about his reluctant agreement, so the brown haired teen decided that it couldn’t be that bad.

He had always wanted to see the foreign lands. After hearing all of the exciting and almost unbelievable stories that travelers told eagerly, anyone would have wanted to see the Eastern Lands for themselves. But being prince had always restricted Taichi from going very far from his castle.

But now that it benefited his father, he was allowed to go. Completely unfair, but Taichi was still grateful to actually be able to go to the unknown lands.

“Aw, come on Taichi.” An amused voice encouraged him “Cheer up. Not many people have ever seen the Eastern Lands for themselves.” Taichi’s deep brown gaze shifted towards the young blonde standing beside him.

“But Takeru, I would have liked to come on my own terms, not because of negotiations.” He told his bodyguard. Takeru Takaishi was his bodyguard, but he was also one of Taichi’s good friends. A little young for the job, but he did it well.

“Yes, but think of it this way, your majesty,” Another voice commented, “If this opportunity hadn’t come up, you might have never been allowed to go.” Taichi shifted in his comfortable seat to look upon the red haired boy that was standing next to him, although far enough away to give the Royal his space. Koushiro Izumi was a year younger that Taichi, but he was ten times as wise. Although no one would ever say that fact out loud, for it would be a terrible insult against the Royals, but every one knew it. And although young for the honor, Koushiro had become Taichi’s personal advisor.

Taichi shrugged in response towards Koushiro’s wise words. He hated admitting he was wrong.

It was a long ride to their destination, and Taichi found himself in awe with the new surroundings. Instead of his familiar sand and desert climates, he was faced with lush green plants, each with their own unique flower, small insects that brought about a scene of an almost paradise-like atmosphere.

“It is beautiful.” A soldier said out of the blue. Taichi didn’t know this particular fighter by name, but what he stated was very true. It was beautiful.

Even though the beauty of his surrounding far surpassed his own at home, Taichi still felt himself weary from travel, his active and energetic demeanor not liking the fact that he had had to stay in this boat for three days. The Eastern Lands were on the same landmass as the Western Lands, but the quickest way to travel was by the rushing blue waters.

“I think that we are almost there.” Koushiro stated, noting the impatient look on his prince’s face.

“About time.” Taichi grumbled, sinking lower into his throne-like chair. He hoped that this tiring trip would be worth it. He just wanted to get back home and be back in lands that he was familiar with. Yes, the beautiful atmosphere around him was a sight that he didn’t want to give up, but it was a land that he did not know. A land that almost seemed too good to be true.

The ship finally docked in the port, and Taichi had to force himself not to leap up in joy. He had to remember that he would be watched at all times, and that he was representing not only himself, but his father and their lands. He couldn’t disgrace everyone but such a childish act.

Masking his obvious happiness to be off that cursed ship, Taichi thanked the captain and descended from the boat.

He was told that he would be staying with the best comforts that the Eastern Lands had to offer, from a tasty abundance of foods, to luxurious sleeping arrangements, to even the comfort of anyone he should so desire. Taichi was caught off guard from the last promise, but he thanked the Eastern Lander that had told him of the arrangements, even though he knew that that would never happen.

Finally, they set off with the group of Eastern Landers towards the palace that was supposed to be the home of the Sovereign. Taichi was slightly disappointed by the newcomers that were leading him to their home. He had always expected that the legendary Easterners would be more diverse than what the few in front of him were. They looked like anyone else he could find back home.

This trip was looking to be more of a waste of time by every second that went by.

The palace came into view, its white, smooth, curvy walls contrasting to that of which Taichi’s own dark, rough and square stones that made up his castle. It was, at least, something more than Taichi had expected. At least the palace hadn’t let him down, for the villagers that were watching their procession in awe were still no different from anyone back home.

Sighing with agitation, Taichi kept up the brisk pace that his leaders were setting.

“What is it, your majesty?” Takeru asked, concern etched in his caring words. Taichi dismissed it with a slight wave of his hand. It wasn’t as if he could say anything in the middle of a crowd of the people he would make the comment against.

“The Sovereign has asked that you join him in a welcoming ceremony tonight, were he will greet you in the customs of our people.” Taichi nodded in assent with what had been proposed. It sounded all right with him. It wasn’t as if he could actually refuse the offer. Taichi doubted that would have helped with the negotiations.

“Follow me then please to your rooms.” A servant said softly, as fitted her place. Taichi nodded and asked her to show him the way.

The sun was setting beautifully, casting lustrous blues and ghostly purples into the skies. It was a sunset as Taichi had never seen. It was almost unreal. The colors mixed too well to be real.

Taichi had been summoned to come to the ceremonic hall, for it was time for the welcoming ceremony, and was now making his way to where he had been instructed to go. He heard the soft beat of drums coming from the hall, and he became a little excited about the ceremony. Maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as he thought.

The hall was actually a soft, cream-colored tent that was set up so that the sides were up, exposing the sunset to their eyes, and only the canopy was put up. There were was a huge table that was facing the setting sun, and other smaller tables were set almost randomly around it.

An indigo haired teen sat at the head table, his chair was made from intricate gold patterns. This was obviously the Sovereign. He seemed almost bored with everything that was going on around him, his shoulder length hair moving gently in the slight breeze. He had piercing blue eyes, the color of a darkened sky.

Taichi could only stare at the Sovereign. He was one of the most interesting people he had ever laid eyes on. This was what he had been expecting to see when he set foot on the foreign lands. But he had thought that everyone in the Eastern Lands would be as exotic as the Sovereign.

The Sovereign looked up suddenly and his eyes sparkled as he found Taichi. He motioned for him to come over, which Taichi obliged.

He bowed when he was in reasonable distance from the foreign ruler.

“I am Taichi Yagami, prince of the Western Lands, my Sovereign. I am extremely grateful for the terrific hospitalities that have been in my service.” The indigo haired teen nodded, and motioned for the prince to sit.

“I am Ken Ichijouiji, the Sovereign of the Eastern Lands. Be welcomed humbly into our lands.” The Sovereign had to be around Takeru’s age, and yet he was actual ruler of such a strong nation? It seemed impossible for someone as young as Ken to be ruler.

“Now that our guest has arrived, let the festivities begin!” Ken announced grandly. A loud cheer swept through the tent, then quieted down so that the only sound was the now changing music. It was a slightly slower paced beat and rhythm, and instruments were added in the harmony.

Taichi watched as dancers began to saunter their way in front of the head table. They were positioned so that the setting sun was their background, as they swayed with the still fast beat of the harmony. It was very entertaining to watch, although Taichi could have sworn that he had seen one of the dancers stumble just a tiny bit. But that tiny blunder made him relax, it proved that these skilled dancers were still human, just like everyone else.

“Do you like the entertainment, Prince Taichi?” Ken asked, obviously talking about the dancers that held everyone’s attention. Taichi nodded.

“Yes, they are very skilled and talented.” He answered. Ken smiled knowingly.

“Just wait.” He stated simply before turning his blue gaze back to the beings swaying in rhythm in front of him. Slightly confused at the Sovereign’s choice of words, Taichi went back to watching the dancers as well.

Then suddenly, the beat became slower, more mystical, it was softer and more majestic. The previous dancers flitted away, as a soloist took up the new harmony. Taichi’s deep brown eyes widened as he took in the sight of the new dancer.

He was wearing pants that were made of loose cloth, folding upon itself; the low golden waistband gleamed in the setting sun. His feet were bare, as was his toned chest. It seemed as though an odd sort of oil had been put on the male’s pale skin to give it an enticing look. Light blue symbols had been painted on his right arm, and an intricate golden armband adorned his left one.

But his face was what completed the masterpiece. His face was soft and pale, as was the rest of his body, and his stunning sapphire eyes were haloed by the golden hair that fell softly by the sides of his face.

He moved with the music as though he were a god. His hips swayed, and his arms gracefully moved in a counter movement. His lithe form performing the act in adept swiftness. His feet lifted and landed softly on the ground in rhythm, as he wrapped his arms around himself almost protectively, only to move his hips even more, showing that he was not at all innocent. Then he leapt in to the night sky, spinning with an unmatched skillfulness.

Taichi couldn’t take his eyes off of the godly form in front of him. He thought that maybe his mouth was hanging open in awe, but he couldn’t be bothered by it. All that matter was that this ethereal and captivating dancer never stopped.

His movements were too swift to predict, each more entrancing than the next. His lithe body doing moves that others could only dream of. The dancer basking in the sunset’s naturally beautiful background.

The dancer began to spin again, getting faster and faster, and then suddenly a light blue light surrounded him, and in the next moment, the gorgeous male dancer was gone.

Taichi let out a breath he hadn’t known he had been holding in an agitated sigh. He didn’t want the dance to stop. And he couldn’t get the dancer out of his head.

Ken looked over towards his guest, smiling softly. Even though he had seen the captivating blonde dance numerous times, his dances were never the same, and always left you with a feeling of awe. A feeling of desire to see the dance again. Or maybe a feeling to see the dancer again.

“And that, my good friend, would be Yamato Ishida, the desired wonder of the Eastern Lands.”

A/n: Feedback would be appreciated immensely. I really like this story, and I already have the roles of every digidestined planned out. I am only including the 01 and 02 series though. And it will be centric around Taichi and Yama.

I am curious to know who everyone thinks will be part of the Eastern Lands? You have Yama and Ken as two of them, and there are going to be three more digidestined who are from the Eastern Lands. Perhaps you could guess in a review? of course I would say that, I just want more reviews! I hope you enjoyed it though.
