As the man walked through the fog, he called out again. Still, he heard nothing. This just didn’t seem real. There was no one in this town. The things look so old, yet there is today’s paper in the paper stands. But, they all have noting on them, except the date. He then thought he saw a women in the brush.

“Hello?” he called out to her. “Who are you? Where the hell is this?”

“Just as you said, Mr. Anderson. HELL!!!” she yelled, jumping him and shoving him to the ground. She looked more like a sun dried corpse then a human. “Mr. Anderson…Mr. Anderson…Mr. Anderson!!!”

“What…” he said, waking up with a start.

“Mr. Anderson, I asked what year the war was. Now, can you answer that?” his teacher asked.

“Umm…1817?”

“Well, now I will like a ten page essay on the war, chronological order, due Monday. Ask someone during lunch what the war was.” his teacher, Ms. Smith, said. “Class dismissed.” she said, the students already out of their seats, going to lunch.

“Man, Paul, I can’t believe you fell asleep during History. That’s like, your best class!” his friend, Jack, said. “I mean, come on! I’m the one that falls asleep during a class. You love this class, or is it just because the teacher’s a babe?”

“No, I like the class, but I will admit, she is hot. But that’s not why I stay awake! And besides, she’s to damn old. And, I got my eye on someone else…” he said as he paid for his food.

“Shit!” Jack said. “Paul, can you buy my lunch? I’ll pay you back. Paul? Hello? Is there anybody in their?” he said, looking the direction he was looking. “Oh, I see.” he said.

“Now there is someone I wouldn’t mind seeing myself with…” he said. She walked up to the casher and got out some money. “No, allow me.” Sean said, pulling out the money to pay for her food. She put away her money, and picked up her tray.

“Thanks Paul. Oh, and the war that we were going over was the Korean War.” Victoria Evens said.

“Thanks Victoria.”

“Vicki. You can call me Vicki.” she said with a slight smile.

“Then, thanks Vicki.”

“You know, my grandfather was in that war, and he may be able to help you. That, and he’s told me all sorts of stories. Want to hear some?”

“Sure.” he said, following her. “Why did he tell you?”

“He had no grandson at the time, and he turned me into a tomboy at a young age. I’ve grown out of it now, though.” she answered.

“PAUL!!! What about my lunch!?!” Jack yelled. Paul tossed him a five and kept walking, sitting next to Vicki. “So, eh, how much will this buy me?” he asked, looking at the casher.

“The piece of pizza and the soda.” she said, taking the slice of cake and garlic bread off of his plate.

“Fucking asshole…” Jack muttered as he sat within earshot of the two.

“So, Paul, what did you dream of? I mean, there was that one time when you dozed off in Math and missed the date of the test, but you seemed scared from what ever you dreamed of. What the hell was it?”

“I don’t know. For the past couple of nights, I’ve had this really strange dream where I’m walking through this small town full of..”

“Fog?” she asked, her voice shaky.

“Yeah, why?”

“I’ve had the same dream the last week.” she said, a hint of fear in her voice.

“Lets talk about something else.” he said, and she agreed.

Jack ate his food worried, also. He, too, had had the same dream Paul had described. But, he had been their before. That damn city that seemed to call certain people to it. And for some reason, it always seemed to grow. He had found himself trapped there once. And now, it seemed to call him there again.

The first time was when he was on a family trip. Something had made him want to go see that once little town on a hillside. But, for some reason, everyone disappeared and the town was plagued by creatures. More like demons, really. Every road out of the town was gone, being replaced with an infinite void for as far as the eye could see. Fog covered the area completely, making it difficult to see much of anything.

At the time, he was ten. He knew how to use a gun. He found a pistol in an empty police car and used it to fend off the demons. He later found a shotgun, and even an M16 with detachable grenade launcher. After four days of fighting these things, he went toe-to-toe with a mutated cop named Cybil Bennet. After he killed her, the town went back to normal and he was in the middle of the street full of people. He later found out that his parents had turned that town upside-down trying to find him in that little town…

…Silent Hill.
