Skuld has spent DAYS at the Hikawa Shrine, smashing bugs wherever they could be found, and she finally has found the grand daddy of them, one that she is having difficulty dealing with. It seems to be hiding, and even though she has seen it twice, she cannot seem to lay a mallet on the offending creature.

“Blasted Bug is not going to escape ME”, she grumbles to herself. Part of her problem is that she has to avoid the shrine inhabitants, some on whom are FAR too perceptive for her taste. Especially that boy, who whenever she entered his room, invariably seemed to wake up and look right at her, while she hunted the bugs. Frankly, for a mortal, he was creeping her out. Its not often that a mortal can see her, when she is trying to hide, but to be able to do so when he sleeps, really bothers her. ‘they are not supposed to be able to do that.’ She thinks, as she continues to stalk her buggy prey. Out of the corner of her eye, she Thinks she see’s it when her pager buzzes into her side. In it ‘Urgent reminder: check in, Been days. Bel’ She sighs, looks around and ports out somewhere, so she can call. She does NOT want to go home yet, Till she finds that Uber bug.

“hi yah bell.. no I am not done yet, there is one more here, and I cant seem to get rid of it…. Yeah I know, I will call in to the op center too… No, I am not being stubborn…. Yeah I know…. HE is not doing anything to you is he… ok, if does I am going to Mallet him like a bug… ok, ok….One strange thing here, there is this guy at the shrine I am at, and I THINK he can see me…. No I mean he appears to be asleep, but… yeah when I come in he looks right at me…. Yeah… I should have Peorth look him up… He feels Very odd… yeah I will mention it when I talk to her….Ok.. ok… Sure what is she doing… HAH, glad to see she should share the misery…. Just that Neirma is a good place for her this time of year… giggles Saotome? laughs even better this should be fun… As long as I am not in the area, that will be grand… By NiiChan…” Skuld starts to think to herself, ‘Urd has been assigned to the chaos magnet eh? I have read that file, I would LOVE to know how she handles that pervert’. In another part of Tokyo, Urd Wottensdaughter sneezes angrily as she tries to untangle the mess of what is Ranma’s life…

She turns to go back to her Uber-bug, smirking to herself about how lucky she was NOT to be Urd right now. She ports back into the shrine, but instead of ending up where she intended, she ends up face to face with the boy. Who looks at her, nods, and ask her in English “hi, I am Renae, I do not believe we have met.” Skuld looks down at herself and sees she is still more or less invisible, and thinks ‘Oh crap!’.

“uhmm hi? You are talking to me right?”

“Yes, you’re the only other being here. I am not sure what you are, but I can tell you are there, and you have a Large weapon of some kind, so I should be polite to you.” He sits up some, and coughs a few moments. “sorry, I seemed to have problems with my lungs. I hope this one has not offended you”.

‘well he is certainly polite enough’ she thinks to herself “Renae, I am Skuld, and you really should not be able to see me. If you DO see me doing things, do not tell anyone else, it could frighten them. Now I am going back to work, and you need to just imagine you did not see me.”

“As you wish” He looks almost sad for a moment, reaches up and realizes something is missing. “wait, did you take my amulet? I need to know.”

Skuld looks at him again, “no, I think the shrine maiden has it, Why?

“its very important to me, no one should EVER be able to take that from me. Its who I am.” He looks agitatedly around the room, for clothes, and finding none, wraps the blanket around himself. He MUST find his amulet, or…. He was not even sure what would happen, if he was separated from his soul.

Skuld blushed, as he stood up, half clothed “Tell someone before you do that!” she growled at him, and left quickly. ‘All of them, Perverts, If he was not so ill, I would have malletted him, just to be sure’. She moves through a wall, spotting her prey, which was moving through another wall into the main shrine.

At the fire:

Rei sits chanting in front of the flames, pulling her ki up, and following the ritual for seeing. She wants to know more of the strange boy, and this amulet that she holds that feels almost alive to her. She cannot see the bug, who now sits atop the flames, looking amused at her, nor can she see the goddess who is trying to sneak up on the bug, to kill it. All she see’s are images, a knight in armor, dieing in flames. A Gajin knight, fighting someone who used magic against him. Watching his body flame up, as he destroyed the mage, and form into the amulet in her hand. Then flames grow again, and a baby boy lays there, wearing the amulet. A very different looking boy. Images of this boy, fighting with a sword and shield against youma, trying to protect her, and her friends. Then images of something that makes her blush deeper red than the flames she is watching.

In the shrine:

He is staggering around the shine, looking to see if he could find whoever took off with his amulet. As he wanders outside, he gets somewhat faint, and just kind of slides down a pillar, and sits, in his blanket, on the steps of the shrine. Off in the distance he hears loud cursing, from a source that only he can hear, as someone misses her attempt at beaning a troublesome bug.. ‘My thoughts exaectly’ he thinks… then passes out again.
