Yet another fluffy one-shot, no plot-line whatsoever but hope you enjoy anyway.
It was very dark in the passageway – the only light came from beyond Yugi's door to his Soul-room. The light from there spilled out into the cold stone corridor, but beyond that small patch of light there was only darkness.
Still, Yugi took a deep breath and stepped forward, then another step, and another, until finally he stood outside another door, quite unlike his own.
Yami's door.
And he was afraid to go in.
Not of Yami, of course – he could never be afraid of Yami now that he knew of his feelings. His dark had sworn always to protect and love his aibou, and Yugi believed him.
But, Yugi was afraid of taking that one other single step to go inside, because of what it might look like.
Yugi's own Soul-room was full of light and memories of his childhood. The bed was soft and inviting, and the walls a bright and cheery colour. It reflected his nature.
But Yami was mysterious.
Despite being inside Yami's Soul-room several times before, it always un-nerved him to go inside, as he never knew what he might find. The Soul-room was ever-changing, and ever a mystery, even to Yami himself because of his lost memories.
His need to see Yami overpowering his own fear, Yugi reached out a hand and turned the handle. The door opened slowly and without sound, and Yugi stepped quickly inside before he could change his mind.
And as he had known it would be, Yami's room was different to the last time.
The last time he had entered, Yugi had found many stairways and halls, each leading in different directions. It was confusing, and disorientated him.
This time, there was but one single room, no small but not large either, and at the centre of the room lay a bed in which Yami lay, asleep.
Sheets of silk lined the bed, and more strips of crimson silk hung down from the top to partially hide the young man sleeping there.
Yugi caught his breath as he watched his dark.
He looked so... at peace, in his sleep, thought Yugi. Yami's face was smooth, and the mouth, far from being set in the stern, majestic pose Yugi was used to, curved upwards in a gentle smile. Untroubled, thought Yugi. Yami was completely untroubled in his sleep, and it made Yugi himself feel happy at seeing Yami so restful.
The smaller boy sat at the end of the bed. He didn't even know why he wanted to see Yami – there was nothing much he wanted to talk about, but he just wanted to see him; to be in Yami's presence. Seeing him like this was so good – well worth the effort it took to come out of his own Soul Room and into Yami's.
As if Yugi had spoken the name aloud, Yami's eyes shot open.
Crimson met amethyst for one long moment before two bare arms wrapped around Yugi;s chest to pull him over.
Yugi blushed but let himself be pulled into the embrace.
"Something wrong, aibou?"
Yugi loved the sound of that deep voice.
He shook his head.
"No. Nothing. I just..."
Yami raised an eyebrow as Yugi trailed off, and his soft smile grew at seeing the tell-tale deepening blush on his aibou's cheeks.
"I just wanted... to see you, Yami."
Yami kissed him.
