I blink back the tears, and fight the lump that has formed in my throat. I turn quickly trying to make my escape before I'm reduced to a quivering mess, and I can't… not in front of him.

Hey

I'm stopped by one whisky covered word. One silent tear escapes my grasp.

Damn him.

He reaches for me.

Come here

I don't even hesitate. Those smooth satin words hold promise of shelter during the storm. I mould my body against his, taking in his warmth, burying my head into his shoulder.

His touch calms my restless soul.

Forever my lifeline.
