I saw a Troll!
by Marta Layton Last Edited: 09 September 2004

On the way to Rivendell Aragorn and the hobbits happen upon Bilbo's troll. Sung to the tune of Loggins & Messina's "(Your Mama Don't Dance and) Your Daddy Don't Rock 'n Roll", MIDI available at .

Sam:
Well, I was walking on down, and I came across - I saw a troll!

Pippin:
Oh, yes, we saw him o'er there, Sam and I, where we took a stroll!

Sam:
So if you follow us down the way,
You'll see the truth we say:

Pippin:
It was a troll,
oh bless my soul!

Strider:
Well let me grab up this stick, and we'll go see what we can see.

Pippin:
Forget the stick; grab your sword; 'twasn't one troll, I counted three.

Sam:
We didn't make this path,
Now we face it's maker's wrath;
Oh mercy me,
Troll-food be we!

Strider:
Well don't you see,
The sun has climbed high, and the hour will soon be noon!
And trolls don't like the light, they'll only come out 'neath the moon

Frodo:
You forget your history,
I'd bet these were the trolls three That Bilbo saw At the Troll-shaws,

Merry:
You know that trolls hate the light, they won't come out in light of day.
And if they're Bilbo's trolls, then where they are, you know they'll stay For they're now solid rock,
They'll sit there round the clock So don't delay: you lead the way.
