Chapter One: The Boy in the Painting

Twenty seven year old Zizi Gold was at a yard sale in Jackson, Michigan in the year 2005. Zizi was about five feet tall, with chin length red hair with blond highlights, and dazzling blue eyes. She was a waitress at Coney Island in the mall. She also was involved in the community theater troop, and took classes for an acting degree at the community college. She’d lived in Jackson all her life and never passed out on a yard sale. Suddenly, she spotted a large painting next to a bunch of old lamps. It was a family portrait of some sort. There was a man and a woman, who were obviously the parents, and three children. After a closer look, Zizi decided that there were four children. The fourth was hiding behind his mother’s skirt.

1705 the plate at the bottom of the frame read.

“How much is this?” Zizi asked the young woman at the table, holding up the painting.

“I’ll give you fifty dollars for it. It’s been in my family for years. It’s been collecting dust in the attic for ages,” the woman replied.

“Deal,” said Zizi, handing the woman fifty dollars.

Zizi hung the painting in her library.

“Why’d you buy that?” asked Zizi’s friend, Cam Dennerll.

Cam was about twenty six years old; with shoulder length brown hair dyed electric purple, and dark brown eyes.

“Buy what?” asked Zizi, looking up from Theatre: the Art of Acting.

“This painting,” said Cam.

Zizi came over to where Cam was standing.

“I don’t know. The boy interested me,” she replied.

“What boy?” asked Cam.

Zizi pointed him out.

“That one,” she said.

“Oh,” said Cam, “you’re crazy, girl.”

After Cam left, Zizi sat in a chair, and stared at the painting.

“Who are you?” she asked the five year old boy in the painting.

A/N: Well, that’s all of ch.1! Sorry it’s so short, it looked longer on paper! Anyway, any guesses on who the boy is? Free cookies will be awarded to whoever guesses correctly! Ch.2 is coming soon, in which Zizi begins her investigation. Review now, please!
