A/N: This story is part of my Inner Demons series. This story features the three original sisters, plus Andy, Cole and Leo and is set in alternative season 3.

List of Characters and powers:

Prue Halliwell: In the original Inner Demons, Prue’s powers were altered when she was given a blood transfusion made of Cole’s blood. Powers now include: Telekinesis, Astral Projection, and Shimmering

Phoebe, Piper, Leo and Cole all have powers, as you know them in season 3. Cole is still Belthazor, but is not evil. Instead he works for the DA’s office.

Andy Trudeau: Andy is mortal and is still working as a police inspector, partnered with Darryl. Andy’s death at the end of season one still holds true with the exception that the Elder’s annulled his death, right after Prue destroyed Rodriguez. Prue and Andy are dating exclusively and slowly dealing with Prue’s “Inner Demons” of abandonment issues over Patty’s death.

Dislcaimer: This story is pruely for my own entertainment. No Copy Write infringment is intended and no profit is being made. Positive feedback is welcome gentle criticism accpeted.

Demons of a Different Kind: Date Night Fright

6:00 PM
Port of San Francisco.

"Can you hear me?" Inspector Darryl Morris sat in an unmarked van wearing a set of headphones and tinkering with some video equipment. "Can you hear me now?" Staring directly at one of the screens, Darryl kept a pensive gaze as he watched his partner of three years Andrew Trudeau come out of a warehouse, carrying a brief case.

"You sound like a Verizon commercial," Andy finally quipped pressing two fingers to his right ear.

"Very funny," Darryl snorted adjusting the volume to his headset. "Maybe if this bust goes sour, they'll give me a job as their new company spokesperson"

Andy looked down at the lapel on his jacket. "This bust isn't going to go sour"

"Just play it cool partner and you might be able to make your date with Prue." Spotting two men on the adjacent monitor, Darryl focused in on the zoom. "I've got Lopez and an unknown at six o'clock"

"I see them,” Andy answered walking towards the water with his shoulders back. "Mr. Lopez?" He greeted the man with a firm handshake.

Lopez spoke sternly, “do you have the money?"

Andy tapped the briefcase. "It's all here, do you have my merchandise?"

"But of course,” Lopez snapped his fingers and two men the size of sumo wrestles appeared behind Andy. From the corner of his eye Andy could see that one of them had a bat, and the other a gun with a silencer attached. "It's just a little protection on my part" Lopez added, "I'm sure you understand."

A shudder ran up Andy's spine but still he didn't flinch as he handed Lopez the briefcase, "you want to count the money?"

"That won't be necessary." The man beside Lopez nodded to the men in the back, "Kill him, he's a cop." It wasn’t until that moment that Andy realized the man standing beside Lopez was a two-bit hoodlum who Andy had busted a couple of years back for petty theft.

Lopez smiled as the man holding the gun fired, and the man holding the bat advanced.

"No...No...things aren't suppose to go down like this!" From inside the van, Darryl ripped off his headphones and started spouting orders. "All units move! I've got an officer that needs assistance, repeat all units move in now!" Removing his weapon from its holster, Darryl pushed the back door of the van open and sprinted off at top speed, the wind at his heels.

"Hang on Partner, just hang on!"

11:30 PM

Prue Halliwell sat in the alcove of P3 gazing at several black and white photo's that she'd taken earlier that day at the Ghirardelli square; pictures of couples and families having a good time. One photo in particular captivated her attention. It was a picture of young couple nearing their thirties, kissing. Their arms were wrapped around one another tightly, locked in a passionate embrace.

Kissing, that was Prue should be doing she thought wistfully letting her thoughts drift to Andy. Prue's long time beau, Andy Trudeau, an inspector with the San Francisco SFPD had been working undercover on a case for the past three months trying to bring down an influential mob boss who was wanted for string of robberies and murders in the Bay area.

Prue was so distracted with her own thoughts of Andy that she didn't see a handsome man step up to her table. He was about 5'11 with stunning dark features and amber colored eyes.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?"

Prue calmly closed her portfolio of photos and leaned forward, "as a matter of fact it is. I'm waiting for someone"

"And who that be?" the man smirked amused at the hint of disdain dancing in Prue's voice.

"My boyfriend, he's a police inspector with a very big gun"

The man simply nodded taking a moment roam Prue's form. She was wearing a short backless, black spandex dress that accented her long raven hair and green eyes. "If I had a women as beautiful as you, I would probably carry a big gun too" he replied turning on one heel.

"Bye” Prue waved in sarcasm as Phoebe stepped out from the corner licking her cherry red lips.

"Oh Prue he was yummy"

Prue looked back down at her portfolio, "Go for it Pheebs, he isn't my type"

Phoebe slid into to the booth scooting up next to Prue, "Oh no honey he was clearly interested in you besides Cole should be shimmer in any time now."

Once again Prue closed the portfolio, disgusted, "but I'm not interested in him"

"But you could flirt a little, it could be fun. Just because Andy's a little late doesn't necessarily mean your love life has to be"

"Phoebe..." Prue raised an eyebrow of warning.

"Okay, okay, it's just that ever since Andy's been working this case you've been a little tense."

"I think you'd be tense too if you knew the man you loved was trying to bring down a vicious killer, without the protection of magic"

Phoebe covered Prue's hand with her own, "Andy's a professional. I'm sure he knows what he is doing. He and Darryl probably just stopped off at Kryspy Kreme to woo the ladies who give out free donuts."

"Andy hates donuts" Prue reached into her purse and pulled her out her cell. She had just finished dialing Andy's number when Phoebe tapped her arm, motioning for her to look towards the stairs.

"Oh...Oh...My God" What Prue saw, nearly made her drop her phone. Andy was coming slowly down the stairs with Darryl. From what Prue could see his left arm was in sling, and a sizable bandage covered the right part of his scalp just below the hairline.

Prue and Phoebe pulled to their feet meeting the two men at the base of the stairs.

"Hi." Andy grinned wincing as he dipped his head to kiss Prue on the lips.

“Hi” Instantly Prue's eyes were flooded with concern, "what happened?"

"What happened?" Darryl butted in before Andy could speak. "Let me give you the short version. Super cop here took a bullet to the head and the chest, after being make by a former punk he arrested.

"A bullet?" Prue's eyes became as wide as saucers. "Andy"

"It’s just a flesh wound. The vest saved me” Andy smiled tightly.

"Right unfortunately it did nothing to deter the guy holding the bat." Darryl quipped. “He also has three cracked ribs, a concussion and two weeks of convolesant leave”. Darryl's cell phone rang and instantly he fished out of his pocket.

"Morris. Oh hey Baby. No I'll be home in a little bit. I just had to make sure, that Andy found his way to Prue safely." Darryl slapped the phone shut.

"Sheila want you home?" Phoebe perked with a big smile.

"She has a craving for pumpkin flavored ice cream. I've got to stop off at the market otherwise I'm not allowed in the house". Shelia was five months pregnant with their second child, a little girl so an ultrasound had told them.

"Wise move" Phoebe grinned watching Darryl pulled a medicine vile from the inside of his blazer. Delicately he handed it to Prue. "Pain killers every four hours, and make sure that he doesn't sleep for more than two hours at time. Dr. Jacobs, said he could fall into a coma"

"A Coma? Darryl wait!" Prue's face fell unwittingly, causing Phoebe to lean into her shoulder.

"Now aren't you wishing you hadn't sent the yummy guy away?"

From the bar, a cold hearted pair of eyes watched as Prue gave her sister a murderous glance and then started to help Andy up the stairs. "You don't deserve him, Prue"

“Go ahead, lean on me." Prue said when they reached the street Andy was too sore to protest. His ribs felt like they had been to be shattered into a million and one pieces. He could feel the pressure of Prue's arm wrapping around his waist and involuntarily sucked in deep breath. "Easy Superman, I've got you"

"I’m fine," he muttered as Pure helped him into the passenger side of her BMW X5.

"Like hell you are!" she rolled her eyes skyward and stepped off the curb.

Andy’s Apartment

"OW!!" Andy hissed blowing out of sharp breath as he eased into a chair with Prue's support. He winced when Prue slid to her knees and unbuttoned his shirt so that she could slide it from his shoulder.

"No...No leave it on," he gasped not trying to hide his pain.

"I guess the doctor was right something is definitely broken," Prue commented noting the way Andy was gritting his teeth. His eyes were tightly shut while he tried desperately not to jump out of the chair making her grin. In an endearing way, it was kind of fun to see Andy squirm even if he was hurt and it made her feel good that she was there to care for him.

”Andy I wish you would have called me, I could have helped”

Andy peeled open one eye, looking at her sternly. “We have an agreement remember, I fight the bad guys, you fight the demons”. That had been their policy ever since a demon named Rodriguez had killed Andy while he was trying to protect Prue. Thankfully, the Elders reversed time, sending Andy back to Prue as a gift.

Tenderly, Prue kissed his slack dry lips and rose to her feet. “I’ll be right back.” With her hips swaying, she headed into the kitchen to retrieve a glass of water so that Andy could take his medication.

"All Right Little Man . . .Time to open up wide” Prue sneered as she returned to the living room with a glass of water and Andy’s pain medication in hand, only to find that he had dozed off, his head resting on the back of the chair.

Prue smiled for several seconds just admiring his adorable facial features. They were the perfect combination of ruggedness with hint of boy like expressions. Reaching out, she touched the prickly evening stubble that covered his cheek. “Andy, c’mon let’s move to the bedroom”

Once she had him medicated and settled into bed, Prue stripped down to nothing but her black slip, and crawled into bed next to Andy.

“Let me know if you need anything,” she whispered catching the light. She rolled onto her side, and placed her arm on Andy’s chest accidentally bumping his ribs.

”ARGH!” Andy jumped involuntarily with pain radiating throughout his tender body.

”Oh…Oh…I’m so-sorry!” Prue apologized profusely, deciding in the end it would be best if she took the couch.

“Prue no…you don’t have too”

”It’s okay, I’ll just be right in the next room,” Heading for the closet, Prue pulled out a extra blanket and a spare pillow.

”Prue,” Andy called to her, as she started to for the door.

”Yeah?”

”I love you”

”I love you too,” she grinned showing the little gaps in between her teeth. After settling in on the couch, Prue set the alarm on her cell phone so that she could check on Andy in regular intervals. “It’s one-fifteen now, so three-fifteen”. Fluffing her pillow, she fell into an instant slumber.

Unbeknownst to Prue a dark figure watched her from the living room window as she slept. The figure smiled, and the proceeded to make it’s way inside the apartment.

Two-fifteen a.m, Prue awoke to the sound of muffled pain. “Andy?” Tossing back the covers she flew back into the bedroom, hitting the light. A dark cloaked figure was on top of Andy clutching what looked to be an athame.

“No!” Arms waving, Prue threw the figure into the window shattering the glass. The figure did a skilled tumble landing on the grass outside with Prue trailing. She’d taken several steps towards the street when she stopped and turned around re-entering the apartment through the bedroom window.

”Are you okay?” Prue made her way back to the edge of the bed, watching Andy grimace with effort as he tried to sit up.

”I don’t know,” Andy replied slowly. “What the hell was that thing?
