The Last Night I Ever Cried

By Duskrider Q

I was born without a pulse-

I was born without a heart.

Once upon a half century past,

I came searching for a heart,

A heart

Rumored to be inside a home

I never knew a home.

I knew four crumbling walls

A floor dampened by my tears

And a caving ceiling.

No hearts ever beat there.

Slave drivers disguised as fathers beat me, instead

Imagine my disappointment.

I crossed a threshold,

I traversed a sittingroom,

I passed a kitchen,

I climbed a staircase within

A house.

I found no hearts pumping life merrily into

A home.

I found three lively muggles

No hearts-

I found two lifeless corpses

No hearts.

I wondered what took their lives

When they had no hearts to begin with;

No heart to gift their heir a home

Or is it no home to gift their heir a heart?

I requested in exchange for the last's life,

A proclamation of what I used to dream was love:

He quibbled to me,

While the terror widened his eyes

and the yew pressed to his empty chest,

"I'm proud of you, son."

I summoned another green flash.

Gorgeous,

Genuine,

Gracious yet grievious green!

My cheeks ran with the embers of my glare,

But I was truly overjoyed

Once my cackle finally died

On the last night I ever cried.
