The Worst War

Anakin gazed through the window of his Tatooine home. ‘This is going to be the worst war yet,’ he thought. ‘When the Empire and rebels collide, many shall perish.’ He smiled slightly.

‘Hello, Dooku,’ said Anakin. Dooku had shuffled in quietly, but not quietly enough. Anakin’s heightened Force senses heard his approach. Dooku was holding a plate of food.

‘Mas’er Anakin!’ exclaimed Dooku, and he smiled slightly. ‘Oh, that Force o’ yours sho’ be pow’rful stuff, yes’ir.’

Anakin smiled slightly. He liked to impress people with his Force. ‘Perhaps some day you shall be as powerful as I, if you remember to study. Put the plate on the table.’

Dooku nodded slightly as a tear formed in his eye. Every day he’d bring Anakin his dinner and put it on the table, but the boy would never eat a bite. Anakin was too skinny, in his mind. Something was eating him up inside.

Brushing aside all formalities—he wanted too much to help young Anakin—Dooku spoke frankly. ‘It’s that Amadala girl, in’it, sir?’ He looked sympathetic as he rubbed Anakin’s shoulder.

‘No,’ said Anakin. ‘It’s not because of her that I hurt inside. It’s Yoda.’ Dooku tried to conceal his shock, but Anakin sensed it with the Force, and the boy gripped Dooku’s hand. ‘Yoda has given us our word to betray the Federation, but I sense he’ll do something foolish like betray us.’

‘Mas’ah, no!’ shouted Dooku. ‘If we don’ have mas’er Yoda’s cooperation, then…then….’ he nearly fainted, but Anakin supported him. ‘This’ll be the wors’ star war yet!’

And it was. It sucked so much lightsaber that Anakin’s head exploded and Dooku went into hiding.
