The day the bells fell silent,

The stars all ceased their singing…

The fires of Mordor smoldered, then faded,

Then died…

The clang of arms was stifled, and Pelennor's fields blew softly,

Then sailed the ships into the west,

Out with the tide…

Then no one creature drew in breath, to mist the morning air,

And no elf whistles to the tunes of gulls upon sea fair,

There is no clamor from the forges in halls made out of stone,

Where is the laughter? And the laughs? The people that we've known…

...The ring's dark call is silenced, vanquished Nine, and Eye…

So the last book of the trilogy closed…

And the characters die.
